Not all men, but always men

Driving home from work tonight to the main news stories on the radio being 1) man tortures adopted baby to death and 2) man arrested after child ends up in crocodile enclosure at zoo.

I am absolutely sick of the daily onslaught of problematic men, monsters, committing outrages. That’s all, no suggestions, just AIBU to be sickened by this constant stream of beasts who live amongst us (Gisele Pelicot’s husband, recent terrorist attacks, daily murders of women by men) combined with personal experiences of men who ‘you wouldn’t have thought it to look at him’ turning out to be sex pests and paedophiles is putting me right off them as a sex class. Not your man, not your son, not my (lovely) Dad, but all the other men… how do we know which ones?

Its hard not to conclude it’s a man problem.

It’s not always men though, there are a fair few women who harm their own children, who kill their own children.

Even the first post on this thread wants to say that women are as much of a problem. The scale is vastly different. If men offended at the rate that women do, we’d have virtually no violent crime.

Amodernhistory · 18/06/2026 20:04

It is very, very much, by a huge majority, largely men committing violent crime and largely men receiving whole life orders for acts of absolute depravity.

There's always one, isn't there...🙄

Yes women commit crimes, duh, but not at the same scale as men.

It’s more than ‘some men’ from our culture! I’d say it’s lots of men globally.

France doesn’t have a vastly different culture and yet Ms Pelicot was raped by way more than a couple of handfuls of men.

Don’t blame you for feeling the way that you do OP, I too feel the same. I’ve just come to the realisation that most men are shite. Even looking at the relationships board on mumsnet is illuminating. The majority of heinous and violent crime is carried out by males, with a significantly lower proportion by females.

Screamingabdabz · 18/06/2026 20:09

YANBU. The men in my immediate family and friendship circles are lovely. They are mostly gentlemen who’ve been good dads and supportive husbands but I agree with you. Too much of the male population is fucked up and doing great harm.

Just the idea that domestic violence is going to increase because the World Cup is on - win or lose - they still kick the shit out their wives and kids. What sort of men are these? Fucking animals that all need locking away from civilised society.

Are there? Almost all the cases I can think of also feature a man and likely coersive control.

Male violence in some cultures and countries is much more prevalent than in the uk. Pakistan,Iran, Afghanistan have astonishing dv crime stats.

We know their names because they’re the exception, rather than the rule.

Meadowfinch · 18/06/2026 20:11

There's another story about a man who shot his cousin at a funeral.

WTF is wrong with these men? Are they born sick and evil? Have they taken so many drugs their brains are mush? Or are they just so selfish and rotten to the core that they think they are entitled to behave as they do.

I have a son, I hate that I automatically distrust most men, but I do. 🙁

I am being facetious.
Because posters here always bring up those two women.

I am fully in agreement that male violence is a huge problem.

Oh ffs. There’s always one. 🙄

Both of those women were low intelligence abused wretches who were manipulated and groomed by evil men. But yes, they were torturers and killers. Despite those TWO examples, the stats show that men, as a sex class, overwhelmingly commit most of the violent and sexual crime.

Do you have any actual figures for that? (Thought not).

Whilst there is a group of politicians with a self interest in convincing you that "other cultures" are far more of a risk, the vast majority of harm done to women and children in this country is by white men, usually their former or current partners or father /step father.

BrinkWomanship · 18/06/2026 20:15

Sorry @friedaklein. I missed that!

So even when a woman does commit these acts you still manage to blame the men?
You are not doing anyone any favours by absolving them of their responsibility,

Jellycatspyjamas · 18/06/2026 20:00

There are about 2 men’s prisons for every woman’s prison - what does that tell you?

Tryingiton · 18/06/2026 20:16

MummyWillow1 · 18/06/2026 20:14

Rubbish.

How so ? Would you travel around Iran alone ? What about Pakistan? Their men are well documented for violence against women.

I think the figures for rape in Pakistan (or possibly Bangladesh?) are eye watering. The article I read compared cultures and one was significantly worse than even its neighbours. But my knowledge of the geography and my memory are very bad. I’ll try and find the article.

I am sure there was a similar British case too of a man drugging his wife for other men to rape.
