Silly little things to make life better...

... so not hugely necessary. But say you eat a pizza at a restaurant and you can't quite finish it all. Rather than a full-sized pizza box, can you please give me a half-sized one that I can fit in my handbag please?*

*only applies to more mainstream restaurants, I know that kebab/chicken places will jam anything into a small polystyrene/single use plastic container.

Just a little thing to make the world turn more easily. Also although I get the kids' menu and the discount, can we all please order smaller portions if we wish? Ta!

You can use a medicine spoon. Though that’s a bit of a nightmare when the jar is half empty. Then you need like a long handled latte spoon!

You need some sort of extendable spoon. Then no need to swap between!

I would like taking the kitchen bin out of the container to be a lot easier. I’m always struggling with it, maybe as I’m quite short. It should have a little door or something.

Also on the boot of my car you have to press a button to open and close it electronically but the button is really high up and I struggle to reach it. Why not have the button low down, on the side somewhere.

Get a car with the boot closer on the key fob 😄

Like this aftermarket one 😄😄😄

Just one universal parking app and free WiFi in the car parks so that you can log in if it's automatically logged you out or decided you need to download the latest app.....I'm looking at you Apcoa!

This, absolutely. I went to my nearest town last week and parked where I always park and tried to pay with the app I always use but the town isn't on the app anymore.

I'd also like there to be a law whereby you have to put your name on any food you put in the communal fridge at work and you have to pay a fine if you abandon your leftovers to go off and be disposed of by a more responsible middle-aged woman.

I'd like the same penalty to be applied to people who throw not fully empty disposable coffee cups into the dry recycling.

Hmm... I thought the heatwave was over...

I thought the title: Silly little things to make life better...

Made it quite clear what the thread was about? How should I have worded it better to assist your comprehension?

Why don't you start a thread called: 'One thing I would change about the world' and then I would happily contribute. And I would be polite too.

Good luck finding wherever it was that you lost your manners...

😂 da iawn ti @Arlanymor 👍

A classy response to such an odd reaction to your OP, lol.

Anyway. My silly suggestion is retractable heels. Like, my shoes are flats.. but boom, I press a concealed button on them and somehow, a totally normal looking heel extends out for when I fancy wearing heels.

Check your car manual. Our car allows you to programme how high the boot door/lid opens - took under a minute. I think it was a combination of unlock + keeping the CLOSE button pressed for 39 seconds or something.

Duvet covers to all have press stud fastenings instead of buttons - so much easier to take off the cover and I enjoy ripping off the cover quickly 😁

dayslikethese1 · 03/06/2026 03:38

Things to be designed with a mind to how easy they are to clean. Also bottle rack to come as standard in fridges.

canuckup · 03/06/2026 03:39

Half bottles of wine please

A short spoon for the coffee when the jar is very full.
Saw one this week.
Someone I know has one that a mutual friend's dead husband made for her.

Slightly more crisps in multipack bags.
some kind of fastening to stop duvets sliding in their cover.

30 pack multi packs of crisps that have no prawn cocktail flavour

Katemax82 · 03/06/2026 05:13

If you get paid 4 weekly, be able to pay bills 4 weekly and get benefits 4 weekly so it all tallys up

I would like payday in January to come a few days earlier. We always get paid very early in December, and it’s such a long wait until the next payday. Since February is such a short month, let’s get paid earlier in Jan!

My company does this now. We usually get paid around 22nd December and then 26th January to even things out. It really helps.

MinnieMountain · 03/06/2026 05:33

That's okay @Katemax82 , I'll have your prawn cocktail ones.

Espresso is always £1.20 (ish) like in Italy.

Houndsahollering · 03/06/2026 06:37

Stop fucking around with paydays and pay us on a set day of the month every month. Ideally all the same not matter who you work for either. I don’t want Decembers salary 2 and a bit weeks after Novembers and then nothing for bloody weeks until the end of Jan.

Use those giant motorway matrix signs to give us good news as well “it’s half term next week” or “plain sailing all the way to Crewe”
😂 make me smile on my miserable commute!

All websites/apps operating to the same standard! I shouldn't have to be stressed out using your app, Asda!

British Airways! Gives me the rage every time I use their app

JaneBirkinstock · 03/06/2026 06:43

A free (optional) digestive biscuit with your coffee in a cafe. I don't want a cake but coffee is too wet on its own.

OrdinaryGirl · 03/06/2026 06:44

@MsGreying BEHOLD. AN EXTENDABLE CAR AERIALESQUE SPOON. For only three of your Earth pounds. 😌
