Is something about to happen?

I’m a fairly anxious person, so it could be that, but I keep seeing on different Sm planforms, people saying it feels like similar to before covid lockdown and that something is about to happen.

Does anyone else feel this?

Do you mean the wars going on around the world will mean you have to stay in your house all day?

ChaseTheSin · 09/03/2026 12:15

Not in the slightest. No sign of any lockdown or any reason to suspect they’ll be one.

Nitgel · 09/03/2026 12:15

No. Sun has come out. Could be that miracle.

smallglassbottle · 09/03/2026 12:15

Yeah, fuel is going up so we won't be able to drive and we'll be stuck inside 🙄

DameOfThrones · 09/03/2026 12:16

No.

And I would suggest that if you're an anxious person, you stop reading that sort of thing.

ThroughTheRedDoor · 09/03/2026 12:16

I dont think op means about a literal lock down. Its about a giant global event that means a huge change is imminent.

Untalkative · 09/03/2026 12:16

You mean other than some ongoing wars?

NotMeAtAll · 09/03/2026 12:17

No. There's a lot of hysteria about this war. Outside of Iran, the damage has been minimal. Every death is tragic, but more people have probably died in car crashes in the affected areas outside of Iran since this started.

Edit: I should have said Iran and Lebanon.

outerspacepotato · 09/03/2026 12:18

Vague much?

Yes, something will happen. Somewhere.

Goldfsh · 09/03/2026 12:19

My pension fund value today means I might have to stay indoors forever

RudolphRNR · 09/03/2026 12:20

Remember that social media operates algorithms, if you view one post it’ll automatically show you more of the same. This gives you a very false perception of reality.
If you suffer from anxiety, do yourself the biggest favour and step away from social media, at least for a while. Try to connect with the real world instead. Using the time you would have spent scrolling to go out for a walk, or chat to someone, bake something, do a meditation exercise. Just ground yourself a little.
There has always been disruption and distress in the world and there always will be, you are just immersing yourself in it online right now so it seems more.

Cornwallissunnytoday · 09/03/2026 12:20

I just did a poo after being constipated for a while. Big news!

There. It happened. You can move on with your day now ☀️

OneTealTurtle · 09/03/2026 12:21

What are you on about?

SugarC · 09/03/2026 12:22

I dunno how to feel other than sad. I know we can't do anything about it. It just feels like senseless killing at this point. Wake up and another city has been bombed, more casualties, more lives lost. It feels lile everyone is becoming desensitized to it. "Its the cost of war". Kids starving to death..."not happening here so not our problem"
Its absolutely disgusting. The absolute gloating and boasting over world leaders, (the arse kissing) - makes me feel sick. How can anyone have such admiration for a president who can barely string a sentence together and can barely make time to honour your dead?

I'm not anxious, just fed up and so done with humans killing each other.

No of course not, not a lockdown, but a similar feeling that something is about to happen-what, I don’t know

Yes, sorry should have stated in the post-not a lockdown

This reminds me of a few years ago, when a friend was visiting us. We were driving back to our house after an outing and two ambulances went by, with sirens and lights going. Friend immediately said anxiously "Has something happened?"

After rolling my eyes because 'how the feck would I know if it had?', I replied, "There's a huge hospital with an A & E dept about 200 yards further up this road. Oh look, we're about to pass it."

Yes, I totally agree with you. It's so incongruous isn't it, how we plod on? I guess we can't really exist with this level of horror - our brains would fry if we properly digested it each morning.

I was thinking What is the fucking point? as I sorted out my recycling while Iran's oil fields are burning. Life is madness right now.

Thepeopleversuswork · 09/03/2026 12:34

No, can’t relate to this. This isn’t how the world works. Telepathy isn’t real.

With kindness it sounds as if your anxiety is making you catastrophise and you probably need to distract yourself. With something that isn’t news. And get out of the house.

FlowerFairyDaisy · 09/03/2026 12:35

The 24/7 news channels will be very happy to know this as this is exactly how they want everyone to feel, all the time. Why? It keeps us all watching 24/7 (so, I don't).

allthingsinmoderation · 09/03/2026 12:39

What do you feel is about to happen?

Conundrummum123 · 09/03/2026 12:40

Mortgages are going to sky rocket and whereas 2 weeks ago we were in a rate declining environment we’re looking at rate increases now.

life for ordinary people will get tougher

There are a few threads like this floating around.

ChangePrivacyQuestion · 09/03/2026 12:43

Well, countries are starting to impose fuel price caps (South Korea, Croatia, others to follow). Should this get protracted, it MIGHT lead to fuel rationing, due to supply/demand issues, 70s style, so getting stuck wfh due to lack of transport options is conceivable. There's a few parallels to Suez crisis here.

Rates are going to go up through, price of oil has gone up! Those things aren’t pretty indicative of high inflation meaning the cost of living will get worse.
