Is something about to happen?

I’m a fairly anxious person, so it could be that, but I keep seeing on different Sm planforms, people saying it feels like similar to before covid lockdown and that something is about to happen.

Does anyone else feel this?

Something is always about to happen.
For example, I'm about to have a bath.
Get off SM.

I dunno how to feel other than sad. I know we can't do anything about it. It just feels like senseless killing at this point. Wake up and another city has been bombed, more casualties, more lives lost. It feels lile everyone is becoming desensitized to it. "Its the cost of war". Kids starving to death..."not happening here so not our problem"
Its absolutely disgusting. The absolute gloating and boasting over world leaders, (the arse kissing) - makes me feel sick. How can anyone have such admiration for a president who can barely string a sentence together and can barely make time to honour your dead?

I'm not anxious, just fed up and so done with humans killing each other.

This. Thank you for saying this and actually caring, it makes me feel a little better that there are more of us that actually give a shit about other people. Trump is a revolting human being and everyone keeping their blinkers up and saying “meh, it doesn’t affect me, at least he does what he says he will/says it like it is” and all that bollocks, well, they’re barely better than he is. Wilful ignorance is no excuse.

Reset your social media algorithms. You should be able to do this in Settings. SM is showing you a lot of content that is reinforcing your anxiety and existing views, because it knows you are interested in that content and it is filling your feed accordingly. This does not mean that objectively everyone else out there is feeling like this - your SM is skewed and needs resetting so you can get some balance back. I only recently learned that it’s possible to reset it in this way.

What are you on about?

She’s an anxious person worried that something bad is going to happen. Anxiety is a dreadful thing to have and can make you feel ill and affect your whole life.

I feel the same OP- I have noticed a huge uptick in my anxious behaviour coping mechanisms in the last few months. For me it feels like the anticipation before jumping in cold water.

We are not able to be in control of what is happening in the Middle East or how it affects us. You anxiety is malfunctioning because rather than helping you filter what to pay attention too, it is making you fixate until the issue is "solved".

I agree SM is an issue, but so is the news in general. I opened the BBC News page today and its all politics and war and not much else.

I am giving myself a break from YouTube specifically because it is so incredibly distracting. For example I was interested in the Ruby Franke case, it now shows me police videos all the time which are very intersting to me but NOT helping my world view. Luckily I have managed to teach Insta to only show me beautiful pictures of night skies and travel reels so that is a bit more of a break.

The government has already said it bankrupted itself with COVID payments and that ain’t happening again. So if we did get COVID again, you would get no support and everyone would be expected to crack on as normal, ie work,
school etc.

Yes, true. I feel with Covid, the govt chose the nuclear option - closing society down and funding that closedown - and put future govts in a very difficult position, should that level of response ever be needed again within the near future. That's what I fear most about something 'big' and even worse happening - the coffers are empty, the country is in debt to its neck.

Remember that social media operates algorithms, if you view one post it’ll automatically show you more of the same. This gives you a very false perception of reality.
If you suffer from anxiety, do yourself the biggest favour and step away from social media, at least for a while. Try to connect with the real world instead. Using the time you would have spent scrolling to go out for a walk, or chat to someone, bake something, do a meditation exercise. Just ground yourself a little.
There has always been disruption and distress in the world and there always will be, you are just immersing yourself in it online right now so it seems more.

Good advice.

Also, if you feel frustrated by helplessness in the face of world problems, maybe try tackling something that’s within your power, eg by joining a local community group or helping a friend or family member with a difficult task. I’ve found that makes me feel better.

Are you equally angry with the Iranian Islamic regime? Sponsoring terrorism, massacring its own people? does the desire to comity genocide not matter if the victims are Jewish?

It is possible to think the Iranian regime is vile and at the same time not support illegally attacking a sovereign nation.

The US claim of an “imminent” threat is unsupported by evidence. https://www.armscontrol.org/issue-briefs/2026-03/did-irans-nuclear-and-missile-programs-pose-imminent-threat-no

Also Iranians living in UK have told Starmer that the war will only strengthen the Tehran regime. Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is among more than 100 signatories to letter urging PM not to get drawn further into the conflict

In their letter, they say: “Nobody can claim to want the end of the Islamic republic more than we do. But attacking the country in this way will have the opposite effect. It will entrench the authoritarians and give life to the fiction that has sustained them internally for decades: that they are fighting western imperialism.”

Did Iran's Nuclear and Missile Programs Pose an Imminent Threat? No. | Arms Control Association

Stay off SM a bit. The only thing I see happening for us in the U.K. is the cost of living increasing yet again. Which is shit. But it could be a lot worse. Yes it’s sad and terrible what’s happening with wars, but we can’t change it, so it’ll just circle in your head making you depressed and more anxious.

The sun is shining, Get outdoors, do things you enjoy. See animals, friends, kids and nature. If anything major did happen, I’d be pissed off that I’d sat there worrying about it (pointless)
