Keir starmer is dead in the water

Bertiebiscuit · 04/02/2026 22:21

The UK cannot have a prime minister who gave a plum job to a man when all the time he knew that Mandelson was still close friends with an ex-con who was convicted for trafficking children for sexual abuse. Starmer is destroying the reputation of the UK, he is an embarrassment and shoukd resign, if not the Labour party should demand his resignation.

OK.

Saltycaramelkiss · 04/02/2026 22:39

Wes Streeting said they don't discriminate against anyone based on mere association. I think this is sensible. Sadly this time they got it wrong but not a reason to resign imo

CheshireCat1 · 04/02/2026 22:42

Our reputation was completely destroyed well before he entered number 10.

DoIdriveaVauxhallZafira · 04/02/2026 22:47

Boris was still worse and he clung on for ages, its looking dire for Starmer but I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Meadowfinch · 04/02/2026 22:48

Rumours are already circulating tonight about KS resignation. Time will tell how long he lasts but I don't think he'll survive past the May elections.

Just not sure who will replace him. Burnham isn't an MP, so Jess Philips? Certainly not RR.

Well they should.

PollyBell · 04/02/2026 22:49

isnt this said about every pm

Viviennemary · 04/02/2026 22:50

He was absolutely pathetic trying to make excuses about Mandelsson today in parliament. If onky he knew. Well he was told often enough wasn't he.

Sophomore · 04/02/2026 22:50

I give him a week. The fact he personally appointed Mandelson despite knowing he carried on his friendship with Epstein post- conviction must be the end, especially as he was already so weak.

Appalonia · 04/02/2026 22:51

According to Guido Falkes, they're having crisis talks with him tonight. It's being reported on the front page of ALL the papers, including The Guardian, that he's in trouble. Angela Rayner is circling the wagon. Looks like he's a gonna!

It’s said about Starmer about once a week.

This might be the thing that makes him have to go but it could be salvageable if he gets rid of McSweeny.

If international reputation is what we are worried about getting rid of Starmer would be a daft move. He’s done a huge amount to improve the UK’s reputation over the last 18 months.

Gungeandroses · 04/02/2026 22:52

Who is back up PM? I just want one person in office for a while. Some stability.

SeriousFaffing · 04/02/2026 22:55

The sooner the crowd stops baying for a rotating cast of prime ministers, we’ll be in a better position as a country. This is not normality.

It would be a start to have a PM (of either party) who didn't lie with every breath.

Then perhaps they could stay for an entire term.

EasternStandard · 04/02/2026 22:59

Certainly seems to be in circulation even in the Guardian.

the80sweregreat · 04/02/2026 22:59

He is toast. I bet he’ll be gone soon.

It wasn't mere association. Mandelson gave insider information to Epstein to help him make money. A Labour Minister helped fund a paedophile network. It doesn't get much worse than that. I'd be amazed if Mandelson doesn't end up in prison.

David 'men can grow a cervix' Lammy is Dep PM.

He’s toast.

I love how Starmer is held to account more than Boris was, or Lettuce, or Farage or.. loads of corrupt, lying politicians. Good old British press eh?

By the way, yes, all politicians should be held to a high standard and chucked out if fail. It's just the selective pearl clutching that pisses me off.

Did Starmer know that he did that insider info though? That's the important part.

At the time of his appointment it was only association with Epstein. The finer details were not known

Ironically Johnson was forced to resign for a similar act of poor judgement - promoting Pincher when he was known to be a sex offender.

deadsockholiday · 04/02/2026 23:03

At least he wasn't actually in the Epstein files...unlike Farage. Is that you Nige? You've had an unusually busy day, muck spreading..
