Keir starmer is dead in the water

Bertiebiscuit · 04/02/2026 22:21

The UK cannot have a prime minister who gave a plum job to a man when all the time he knew that Mandelson was still close friends with an ex-con who was convicted for trafficking children for sexual abuse. Starmer is destroying the reputation of the UK, he is an embarrassment and shoukd resign, if not the Labour party should demand his resignation.

Latin and small businesses are 'british'?

Why would you say they’re not? Are you in the UK?

chocciechocface · 08/02/2026 11:34

Saltycaramelkiss · 04/02/2026 23:02

At the time of his appointment it was only association with Epstein. The finer details were not known

… and his association with Epstein was already in the public domain. Why is the public outrage heated now but not then? Maybe because sensible people know that Epstein knew lots and lots and lots of people and knowing him doesn’t make all those people complicit or paedophiles?

Flamingojune · 08/02/2026 12:02

Araminta1003 · 08/02/2026 11:25

Yes, small businesses have survived for over a thousand years. And we have Roman ancestry and we value our freedoms, humanities and critical thought. It is the foundation of our education system going back centuries. It is why we are still at the top of thought and diplomacy.

Forgot about Chagos as well. Complete shambles all round.

Ah yes the romans who immigrated here

For Starmer, it's that the sharks scent blood.

True.

Sharky Rayner, Streeting and Burnham are doing all they can to oust Starmer.

Not the poster you’re replying to, but I’m surprised at your comment. Those two things are very British! Do you live in the UK?

No small businesses elsewhere in the world? Latin is British?! Please, even the English language isn’t Latin based.

OonaStubbs · 08/02/2026 12:15

I don't understand why Starmer hasn't resigned yet? Surely he must realise that the game is up? How much worse does it need to get before he realises it is inevitable?

Flamingojune · 08/02/2026 12:37

How much latin does your average flag flier speak?

Shakeoffyourchains · 08/02/2026 12:52

It's times like this you've really got to wonder about the mindset of right whingers.

Starmer is the worst PM ever and needs to resign immediately because he appointed Mandleson to a position of power despite knowing he had a relationship with Epstein.

But Trump, who's a convicted felon and sex offender on his own right, and who was infinitely closer to, and more involved with, Epstein than virtually anyone else, is the leader we all desperately need apparently.

I doubt many people - like seriously, a handful in the whole country - want Trump as a leader. Huge numbers want to see the back of Starmer though. There’s no connection.

CarbonAndCode · 08/02/2026 13:28

On the narrow point of popularity, Starmer’s net satisfaction dropping to around –30 to –35 isn’t unusual. Several PMs have hit similar or worse numbers as far as I can see.

Margaret Thatcher (1980–81): fell to roughly –40 during the recession. That’s actually worse than Starmer and on almost the same timeline;

John Major (1993–96): After Black Wednesday, Major spent years in the –40 to –60 range which is far below Starmer’s current level;

Theresa May (2017–19): After the 2017 election gamble, she regularly sat around –30 to –40;

Boris Johnson (2021–22): During Partygate, he dropped to –40 to –50.

No one is arguing that Starmer’s numbers are good, but they’re not historically exceptional. Thatcher, Major, May, and Johnson all hit similar or worse levels at various points.

Two things can be correct at the same time you know. Starmer is a disappointment and has let us down, Trump is a nasty sex pest, general bad news and danger to the western world.

Adding to things that are not British imho - expecting people to abandon critical thought and pick a side whose faults they then refuse to see.

Are you talking about another figure -30 to -35 is out of sync, this is from YouGov

Three quarters of Britons now see Keir Starmer unfavourably

Keir Starmer’s net favourability rating of -57 is his lowest to date

Liz Truss approval ratings reach new lows after Tory conference

PM’s -47 net rating in Opinium poll worse than Boris Johnson’s at height of Partygate scandal

Starmer is officially more unpopular than Truss! Presumably we havent had any solid opinion polls since the Mandelson hoo ha?

Hate trump but using terms like 'right whingers' is as cringe as 'remoaners'. I am glad the UK has higher expectation than the US. So far we haven't elected a trump like candidate (but sadly might happen at the next election). Starmer has shown bad judgement and squeals 'PM lied to me', twasn’t my fauuuuult. How very meek and inept.
