Keir starmer is dead in the water

The UK cannot have a prime minister who gave a plum job to a man when all the time he knew that Mandelson was still close friends with an ex-con who was convicted for trafficking children for sexual abuse. Starmer is destroying the reputation of the UK, he is an embarrassment and shoukd resign, if not the Labour party should demand his resignation.

The arsonist story does not go away on X .. I know X is a cesspit, but given what we now know about Eipstein and those involved with him , nothing surprises me anymore.

X is just a far right propaganda machine, and most of what you read on there is pure fabrication.

I haven't seen a single reliable source reporting on the rumours about the arsonists that some posters seem so eager to perpetuate. The right wing media can't stand Starmer, so the fact that they're not covering this should tell you all that you need to know.

I'm so angry about Andy Burnham. I hope someone stands aside to give him a chance.
He is very anti sleaze and I believe he is a truly on the side of ordinary people.

Don’t they all bleat about being anti sleaze, and that they’re going to work for the people. Andy Burnham is nothing special, and no different from the people who’ve gone before him.

I think this first paragraph nails it!

Get all the shit out of the way and then someone else can swoop in... Although none of the available options are very inspiring!

The problem is he hasn't. He failed to get the welfare reform needed. He hasn't really tidied up any lose ends, even the payouts for doctors has unwound already. The next person has just as much shit to deal with as when he came in but from a position of even higher debt and an even higher tax burden.

It would have been a good strategy for Labour to some in reset everything for 2-3 years use the last year to bring in someone untarnished to look to the future.

Oh do fuck off.

Always good to see a well reasoned adult response to a important current issue.

There’s nothing to show that Johnson or Sunak were corrupt. Nothing.

Johnson lied to parliament. So he had to go. But he gave nobody money. And he didn’t appoint an Epstein fluffer.

Sunak did nothing wrong.

All the “oh they lined their pockets by giving deals to their mates” is invention. It’s Labour garbage.

Starmer’s grabby freebies, and his utterly shit judgement, and his and this government’s rank hypocrisy are all a matter of record.

He’s over. The lie of Labour ethical superiority is over. Labour’s over.

Edited

PPE.

To tory friends and donors.
Every single one of them were tory's friends and donors on the fast track lane.
I do believe this was under Boris's time, no? Nothing checked out, just fast track contracts awarded. This is not garbage, this is fact. Sorry old bean. Some of them were awarded contracts for more than their worth, for companies set up that didn't even do PPE before and we, the tax payer, were paying more for PPE than many other countries.

Freebies? As someone else mentioned, Boris's grabby decorating freebie outrage?! His holiday in Mustique? Jesus, people have short memories here in their speed to only bash Labour.

There isn't going to be a general election any time soon. Why are people even talking about this as if it might be a possibility. Do they not understand how the system works?

He’s no worse than previous PMs we’ve had.

Wow, the bar is very very low indeed, if that's the best we can say about him.

Perhaps we could aim for better !

There won't be a general election, just a new leader of the Labour party

We understand, but this shouldn’t mean we don’t wish or deserve better surely?

Dragonflytamer · 05/02/2026 00:04

Starmer knew that Mandelson stayed in Epsteins flat whilst Epstein was in prison for child prostitution charges. Surely you have to be extremely good friends with someone for it even to cross your mind, that when your going to visit New York, rather than getting a hotel like everyone else, just to call your mate in prison to see if you can use theirs. Or maybe Starmer thinks that is normal behaviour.

There won't be an election. We know the pattern from the conservatives. There will an increasing amount of infighting and the cabinet room will get the revolving door put back up.

He's actually chipping away at trying to improve things but a lot of those things do not make the headlines.
But people don't want to hear that. They just want to bash and blame them for everything in the country right now, omitting the main player part that the tories have done in ruining our country. It's actually getting dull how utterly selective people in the UK are with their memories.

We've not had a decent political party in so many years. Just some slightly less shit than others.

Starmer just looks pained....always does when hes lying. Of course he knew Mandelsons backround. MI6 informed him but he chose to ignore the red flags. Like he ignores elderly freezing, the farmers, made wealthy leave the country due to high taxation, put VAT on private education.....goes on and on...plus all tge freebies which as a millionare he should have been able to afford.

Those policies all made sense. Pensioners aren't freezing, farmers should pay taxes, private schools, big deal.

DoubleShotEspresso · 05/02/2026 00:03

And he tightened the rules on freebies. No other MP has done that..

WaryCrow · 05/02/2026 00:08

Do you know, it’s not often we get to be proud of something in Britain nowadays but I confess to a faint twinge that the Epstein scandal has blown up - and heads are rolling. Meanwhile in the bigly US…

Shame Mandelson was brought back though, we all know what he was/ is. Unless deep political plots are playing.

Dragonflytamer · 05/02/2026 00:09

Happyjoe · 05/02/2026 00:08

Dragonflytamer · 05/02/2026 00:09

So was Boris.
He never tightened the rules. Starmer at least listened to the outrage.

DoubleShotEspresso · 05/02/2026 00:09

@HappyjoeGod no, not reform! But this government still needs to go.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 05/02/2026 00:09

DoubleShotEspresso · 05/02/2026 00:03

We understand, but this shouldn’t mean we don’t wish or deserve better surely?

If you think we deserve better, then maybe reflect on the fact that an election right now would be catastrophic. We would probably end up with a Reform government, and frankly, even the idiots that voted them in wouldn't deserve the shitshow that would ensue.

You might legitimately think that things are a mess right now. But this is nothing compared to what a Reform government would look like.

A general election right now would only make things worse. None of the parties are really fit to govern right now, and Reform is the least fit of all.

People should be very careful of what they wish for.
