Good god it happened to me

Sorry, this seems very alarmist. But I am horrified by what has happened. I realize fully that this is a first world problem. I started mouranjo in February for various health reasons, one of which I was obese. Well the pounds flew off me at a freakish speed, so much so that my Dr told me to stop 7 weeks ago- which I did. Here is the problem. I HAVE NEVER GOT MY APPETITE BACK. I am now classed as underweight. I have absolutely no interest in food and have to force myself to eat. I now have very low blood pressure. This is a nightmare. Am I just going to shrink away? I’m living off protein and meal replacement shakes because I find it so hard to swallow food. And part of me feels like I deserve it. I’m catholic. Wil it end? Does anyone else know of this happening?!!! Is it my fault?

The real danger of GLP-1 is their misuse.

therearesigns · 13/12/2025 20:26

Is there a medication in the world that doesn't have the potential for serious side effects? I think they all do. They happen to someone. Yet people seem extra keen to defend this medication. Not sure why.

It's not cultish to challenge a false claim about a potential side effect. There are plenty of real, documented side effects, scaremongering about false ones is irresponsible.

Sarah2891 · 13/12/2025 20:36

SmallTortoise · 12/12/2025 23:05

Is this what happened to Sharon Osbourne?

Yes. People should be very careful with these drugs. Way too many are being led to believe they are the answer and come with no issues.

Grapewrath · 13/12/2025 20:37

Don’t blame yourself. There may be an underlying medical issue. You need bloods and a full MOT to ensure the jabs aren’t concealing an underlying medical issue.
Get some iron as you are likely anemic, which causes poor appetite.
This is likely resolvable either way.
Some of these comments are fucking wild.

Why wouldn't people believe it? It is a known but very rare side effect of GLP-1s. That's not to say it shouldn't be available to people who need it, but they should be aware of the potential side effects.

The cultish defense and obsession with GLP-1s is odd and worrying. It is a medication with potentially life-threatening side effects, not the second coming.

The benefits of it need to be weighed up against the side effects. It should only be used for people whose health is at serious risk from obesity, not for those who need to lose a couple of stones.

It’s not though. Thr op has not come back and if it was true it wouldn’t be written with breathless excitement 😂

I mean cmon people.

I don't understand why people get so defensive every time the side effects or safety concerns about these medications are discussed. It is an observation about the medication, not a moral judgement against the users.

There is no other medicine in the world that elicits this type of cultish defense. I use steroid inhalers. I don't get offended when people talk about the side effects.

It’s fine to discuss something real. It is cringe worthy to salivate over something that’s not.

Yeah but I can't imagine the same level of passionate argument if I made a false claim about, say, paracetamol.

I’d infer that they’re on them and potentially want to be on them long term so they have a vested interest in minimising side effects.

Are they being used appropriately? Was Sharon’s visceral body fat high enough to warrant in first place etc? Did she meet the prescribing criteria?

They were designed for long term use.

She's indicating that because she's Catholic, she's primed to feel guilty at the drop of a hat.

It was a joke.

No shit 🙄

Yes. I certainly wouldn’t say that the scenario couldn’t happen, as someone has linked stating this could be a possible side effect. But I totally agree in respect to the way it’s written and the OP not returning.

Bingbongbangbop · 14/12/2025 00:07

Ask your G.P for a blood work up and in the meantime just add in some good fats. Add a couple of tbs of flaxseed oil to your drinks ( it’s also really good for you) if you have a blender you can add frozen banana or avocado but you need to slowly up your solids, start with porridge and chunky soups, your stomach has shrunk and your appetite signals don’t work properly yet. Don’t go back to eating crap though, look at making your own smoothies with a hemp protein powder.

But they haven’t linked to any such thing, I’m not sure if people aren’t reading the link or don’t understand it. They linked to a potential for gastoperiris in morbidly obese people when on the drug, gastroperiris has many other symptoms other than early satiety and it is about the tiny risk when on it, not after you stop and don’t use the meds.

as said, I don’t know why they posted it, either they didn’t understand or didn’t read it properly and others are doing the same thing.

there is no such thing as what the op is posting, and the fact it was done in aibu for footfall, they haven’t come back, and it was written in such a way, shows this was just a made up thing to get all those who are desperate to find some ill effect from the drugs to come crawling out.

hamadryad · 14/12/2025 14:02

Thank you for your mostly kind posts. The reason I haven’t been back is because I had to take my son to hospital urgently, not that’s it’s really any of your business, but there we are. Am not posting for any reason other than the reason most people post. For advice and maybe a bit of comfort. Try not to be so judgmental.

Am going to get a drs appointment asap and find out what is going on. I think I have felt a degree of embarrassment about it because of (as clearly illustrated here) some people ,drs included, can be judgey and unpleasant about weight loss not done the ‘proper’ way. Ie exercise and calorie deficit and extreme hunger. Thank you to everyone who listened and took me seriously. I don’t have much confidence generally so it’s been really good to hear that other people would seek help for these symptoms too. I will definitely think twice about posting any concerns I have again though! It’s almost like when people are safely tucked behind a phone or keyboard they can forget that people have feelings!! 🤣

Can you confirm if you can’t physically swallow?

hamadryad · 15/12/2025 08:46

I can swallow liquid and small amounts of very chewed up food.

I’m truly sorry to hear it OP. It’s a lesson for all the posters on here that say the jabs have no serious side effects.

Do the doctors think the effects will wear off eventually? How long were you on them?

No one said there are not serious side effects, only they are rare.

But well done for being part of the "I told you so" crowd

Boomer55 · 15/12/2025 08:58

Once you lose your appetite it’s so, so, difficult to get it back.

I’ve never had fat jabs, but I lost 7 stone after my DH died - stress vomiting followed by a complete lack of interest in any food.

I was a bit lardy when he died, do I wasn’t too bothered about losing some weight.

Nearly three years on, I’ve been told, by my GP, I need to get some weight on, and more importantly, to stop still losing about a pound a week.

I literally force myself to have some breakfast and at least some soup and a roll in the evening. I also have a yoghurt a day if I can.

That’s the best I can do. Just try and build up to some “proper” food.
