Sorry, this seems very alarmist. But I am horrified by what has happened. I realize fully that this is a first world problem. I started mouranjo in February for various health reasons, one of which I was obese. Well the pounds flew off me at a freakish speed, so much so that my Dr told me to stop 7 weeks ago- which I did. Here is the problem. I HAVE NEVER GOT MY APPETITE BACK. I am now classed as underweight. I have absolutely no interest in food and have to force myself to eat. I now have very low blood pressure. This is a nightmare. Am I just going to shrink away? I’m living off protein and meal replacement shakes because I find it so hard to swallow food. And part of me feels like I deserve it. I’m catholic. Wil it end? Does anyone else know of this happening?!!! Is it my fault?

I'm sure there'll be some other drug to counteract this drug.

Saying she went too far does not equate to her overdosing.

I didn't say it did. Maybe she just means her weight went too far. But (to me) it's an odd way to word it.

Lol theres always a downside/side effects to taking any drug! Cancelling problems out with more drugs is silly IMO unless u were being sarky?!

So she claims. I don't believe Sharon Osbourne and I'm not convinced about OP. Long term loss of appetite isn't an effect of Mounjaro. Given how the drug works, I don't know how it would even be theoretically possible.

Of course and fhe op hasn’t been back. Some folks are so obsessed with people taking these drugs they just post shit.

NikkiPotnick · 13/12/2025 08:46

CabernetAndCocoMelon · 13/12/2025 07:17

The jabs do have serious long term side effects so it confuses me that people say they don’t!

Can't say I've noticed posts on here claiming that serious side effects to WLIs literally do not exist, that they never happen to anyone. That sounds a rather niche viewpoint. Much more common is many of us giving our own accounts of having experienced no/minimal side effects. In contrast to being obese, which hopefully we all know can have a great many.

OP I echo previous posters who've said you really need some further medical advice here, if swallowing is a problem.

HotHorseRadish · 13/12/2025 08:49

Not being able to swallow can be a sign of throat cancer unfortunately.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 13/12/2025 08:51

GooseberryGreen · 12/12/2025 22:57

I'm fairly sure the Catholic Church doesn't have a position on weight loss drugs. And we can be sure that the Bible is silent on the subject. Honestly, if God were going to punish people for weight loss drugs, there would be a lot of very sick people. Nobody is suggesting, for example, that elective surgery to fix my ugly looking bunions was sinful. My mother was raised Irish Catholic but had not a shred of Catholic guilt, was a lapsed Catholic for over 60 years and died in her late 80s. Seriously perhaps you could talk to your priest or confess or something if it would help.

Good grief. It was a light hearted comment by the OP. No need for the humour bypass.

ThatBlackCat · 13/12/2025 08:51

Drink coca cola? Milkshakes from McDonalds? Ice cream? Then you can put some weight back on. But I would not recommend eating like that long term, obviously.

ShawnaMacallister · 13/12/2025 08:56

therearesigns · 13/12/2025 01:27

Is this a known side effect? Definitely worth a wider check up in case it's unrelated.

No it's not

FollowSpot · 13/12/2025 09:14

@hamadryad I hope you are OK.

This is not a ‘first world problem’ (as in ‘not really serious’) it is a health problem

Your GP was concerned 7 weeks ago - go back.

This is not your fault , and looking after yourself is important and what you deserve.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 13/12/2025 09:16

It might not be anything to do with the jabs.

Difficulty swollowing and feeling full can be a symptom of H pylori (I have just been treated for it) so you could ask your doctor to check for this.

Abra1t · 13/12/2025 09:17

Namechangerage · 13/12/2025 00:42

Sigh. Why are people taking the catholic comment so seriously?!

She’s simply saying that she feels she has brought it on herself by taking the jabs. Clearly related to general catholic guilt, not that the Catholic Church has outlawed mounjaro for gods sake 🤣

Exactly. People are either being a bit dense or knowingly literal. She possibly meant that things that come easily (weight loss here) can make you feel as if you didn't really deserve them because you were supposed to find the process tougher.

usedtobeaylis · 13/12/2025 09:31

I have dysphagia, I've had it for years as an effect of oesophagitis, and Mounjaro has improved it by way of improving reflux etc. I can't see any reason Mounjaro would cause it. You need to go back to the doctor and find out what actually is causing it.

WhatdoesitmeanKeith · 13/12/2025 09:32

Evaka · 12/12/2025 23:08

Only a non Catholic would have to ask ;)

Yep! Surprising How many people don’t know what was meant though.

5128gap · 13/12/2025 09:40

That's a very distressing condition OP. You need to go to the doctor as its important to identify whether there's a physical or psychological cause. Inability to swallow food should never be ignored, or assumed to be caused by the drug.

HeadDeskHeadDesk · 13/12/2025 09:43

Well I hope you are being investigated to see if your lack of appetite is due to anything else instead of just assuming it's the Mounjaro. It doesn't sound normal at all. Most people will struggle to maintain their weight loss once the drug has left their system unless they take sensible steps to keep it in check, which is what we should all be doing, having managed to lose significant weight in the first place. We all need to learn how to manage our weight without it eventually, unless we have endless money and enjoy being permanently constipated.

My weight loss has been steady (eventually) but not spectacularly fast. I've failed to see much movement on any of the lower doses of Wegovy, then had a period of around eight months of good steady loss at the higher dose, then a plateau of a few months. I switched to Mounjaro only to experience the same slow progress on the lower doses and only now am I starting to see real progress again. But it's been almost two years and I am still around 7-10lbs from my goal weight which would put me in the middle of the healthy BMI range for my height. Of the two years I've been on it, probably ten months of that has been wasted time and money in as much as the monthly loss has been virtually non-existent. But at least it hasn't gone back on.

It’s nonsense 😂

Zov · 13/12/2025 10:00

I would personally never take WLI, but I'm pretty sure they're fairly safe if you take them correctly/as prescribed... @hamadryad I think you may not have been taking them correctly...

I'm not going to spend time on a big response though, as the OP hasn't returned.

Zippidydoodah · 13/12/2025 10:19

MamaToABeautifulBoy · 12/12/2025 23:26

I’m Catholic, and there’s absolutely no theological basis for feeling guilty about weight-loss drugs. If they were a sin, they’d at least get a passing mention somewhere between Leviticus and Revelations.

I don’t think they had been invented then.

OP- you’ve screwed with your body by taking weight loss drugs. Don’t feel guilty but do go and see a doctor.

PersephonePomegranate · 13/12/2025 10:22

Did you ever look into the reasons why you became obese in the first place? They could very well be linked to the reasons you're not feeling like eating now - i.e disordered eating.

Not to fear monger but a relative of mine had issues swallowing, didn’t tell anyone, thought it was reflux. They got diagnosed with oesophageal cancer and it was too late to treat, get to the dr to be safe.

Sillysaussicon · 13/12/2025 10:49

Are you being actively medically managed? Have you been screened for other causes that could have taken effect while you were on WLD and this was masking it? Do you have dietician support to ensure your nutritional needs are met and you have access to specialist weight gain shakes etc? Would you be interested in CBT to help you eat? Counselling to deal with the stress and disruption and guilt you feel? You could also try holistic therapies so acupuncture or hypnosis? In the very least has these been reported via the yellow card system so the adverse events are reported back the MHRA? All but holistic therapy should be available on the NHS to you?

I hope things improve for you, this much better really difficult. Just brainstorming some ideas to get the ball rolling in a positive direction for you?

Sharon Osborne had a similar experience. She now looks cadaverous and is really struggling to gain weight! Catholics preach that vanity is a sin but It is silly to feel guilty about trying to obtain a healthy weight. I feel really sorry that this has happened to you and hope your doctor can find a way to help you
