Good god it happened to me

Sorry, this seems very alarmist. But I am horrified by what has happened. I realize fully that this is a first world problem. I started mouranjo in February for various health reasons, one of which I was obese. Well the pounds flew off me at a freakish speed, so much so that my Dr told me to stop 7 weeks ago- which I did. Here is the problem. I HAVE NEVER GOT MY APPETITE BACK. I am now classed as underweight. I have absolutely no interest in food and have to force myself to eat. I now have very low blood pressure. This is a nightmare. Am I just going to shrink away? I’m living off protein and meal replacement shakes because I find it so hard to swallow food. And part of me feels like I deserve it. I’m catholic. Wil it end? Does anyone else know of this happening?!!! Is it my fault?

Her Dad died - She is grieving and struggling to eat

Edited

Most of my friends fathers have died at this point, due to our ages, they’ve never ended looking like that. So I don’t know if it’s that she’s had a previous eating disorder that’s reignited when Ozzy died or whether grief + Ozempic has caused this, or whether she has the same issue as her mother.

Bananaandmangosmoothie · 13/12/2025 06:19

You were obese and took steps to do the best thing to take care of your God given body based on the information you had. No guilt needed. Definitely see a doctor though.

Aluna · 13/12/2025 06:30

Mothership4two · 13/12/2025 05:56

She has admitted she stupidly deliberately overdosed Ozempic to get results more quickly and has buggered up her health.

That’s simply not true, she never said that. I’ve just checked. Simply that she ended up losing too much weight and now can’t put it on.

NewYearNewNameWhoKnew · 13/12/2025 06:31

Definitely not your fault and unless this is a known side effect of Mounjaro (which seems unlikely if you've been off it a while ie more than a few weeks) you need medical investigations. Could it be gallstones or a pancreas problem caused by the Mounjaro?

blueumbrella2016 · 12/12/2025 23:38

Calorific drinks: full fat milk, fruit juice etc

You need carbs and fat not just protein.

I honestly read this as 'Catholic' drinks 😳

OP, please speak to your GP and ask for their advice.

Franjipanl8r · 13/12/2025 06:56

Catholics have to say things like “it’s my fault, it’s my fault, it’s my fault” repeatedly in church for their sins FYI….

No OP it’s not your fault. Go back to the GP ASAP. Is it possible the rapid weight loss and all the compliments have triggered an eating disorder? Don’t rule anything out at this stage but you definitely need professional help.

She was exceedingly skinny before her dad died. Has cut out carbs apparently, not injected though.

There's a sacry pack of general knowledge on this thread

I’m truly sorry to hear it OP. It’s a lesson for all the posters on here that say the jabs have no serious side effects.

Do the doctors think the effects will wear off eventually? How long were you on them?

The jabs do have serious long term side effects so it confuses me that people say they don’t!

I don’t believe it’s to do with Ozzy, I think she has no appetite due to the drug but is blaming her grief, or is maybe confused and thinks it’s about her dad.
Very sad either way.

Lazygardener · 13/12/2025 07:27

I have been using Mounjaro for a year or so, and follow various chat forums on weight loss injections. I have never read a single post before this one that referenced a lack of appetite when stopping MJ. The opposite is normal, and I can also say that it is quite normal to have an appetite while using WLIs. OP, I think something else might be going on, and you should go back to the GP.

Newsenmum · 13/12/2025 07:31

you need to force yourself to eat. Set mealtimes. Set foods. It might just take some time.

They can do.

I have had no long term side effects so why would I say they do?

Is this what happened to Sharon Osbourne?

That's what I was going to ask. Her and Kelly.

Neither of my two friends who used MJ have regained any weight several months later. I'm quite impressed as the press would have you believe it's inevitable

Daisywhatsyouranswer · 13/12/2025 07:49

Um sure.

That’s simply not true, she never said that. I’ve just checked. Simply that she ended up losing too much weight and now can’t put it on.

I saw her being interviewed (can't remember where now) and that is exactly the gist of what she said although she may not have mentioned any brand names. It was when there was a lot in the media about her drastic weight loss. She has said contradicatory things about weight loss medication (eg regretting and not regretting taking it). She said something along the lines of "I've always been the sort of person who unrealistically wants results immediately so I took too much too quickly (ie didn't space the doses out as advised) and now I can't put weight on" (can't remember exactly - it's been a while). She may have been advised to stop saying that for legal reasons, who knows?

I was just about to post the same but figured op was meaning to write 'cataholic' to give the impression she was an animal lover

Haaaaa brilliant

That may be how you interpreted it but I can’t find that quoted anywhere at all.

She simply said she lost “too much” weight and thought she went “too far” and can’t put it on.

Doubt that as she never managed to “ cut out carbs “ before mounjaro

What has being Catholic got to do with it? Confused

There is something called "Catholic Guilt", and I think that @hamadryad thinks she might be suffering from it. I certainly have it, have done for many years, and the funny thing is, I am not even Catholic!

ChristmasinBrighton · 13/12/2025 08:12

Very odd. I haven’t come across this as a side effect of WLI.

I do have a relative with oesophageal cancer though, whose symptoms started with feeling unable to swallow food. Definitely foolish to just assume it’s connected to previous medication. Get yourself to the doctor pronto

mynameiscalypso · 13/12/2025 08:17

Rapid weight loss can be a trigger for developing an eating disorder, especially if you are genetically pre-disposed (but not exclusively so). I have had anorexia in the past and even when I knew that I had to put on weight, I struggled because I had zero appetite and often felt like I couldn’t physically eat/swallow. It’s not uncommon at all after a period of rapid weight loss partly because your hunger signals are all messed up but it’s also a mental thing. I’d definitely keep monitoring it and seeking help from your GP but in my experience, it does get better eventually.

Mothership4two · 13/12/2025 08:21

She's done a lot of interviews about her weight loss @Aluna and, as I said, sometimes she contradicts herself but she often says she went too far. It's a while a go and I simply can't remember where I saw her and don't have time to trawl through looking

Is this what happened to Sharon Osbourne?

So she claims. I don't believe Sharon Osbourne and I'm not convinced about OP. Long term loss of appetite isn't an effect of Mounjaro. Given how the drug works, I don't know how it would even be theoretically possible.

Saying she went too far does not equate to her overdosing.
