Good god it happened to me

Sorry, this seems very alarmist. But I am horrified by what has happened. I realize fully that this is a first world problem. I started mouranjo in February for various health reasons, one of which I was obese. Well the pounds flew off me at a freakish speed, so much so that my Dr told me to stop 7 weeks ago- which I did. Here is the problem. I HAVE NEVER GOT MY APPETITE BACK. I am now classed as underweight. I have absolutely no interest in food and have to force myself to eat. I now have very low blood pressure. This is a nightmare. Am I just going to shrink away? I’m living off protein and meal replacement shakes because I find it so hard to swallow food. And part of me feels like I deserve it. I’m catholic. Wil it end? Does anyone else know of this happening?!!! Is it my fault?

Sounds like an awfully short time to go from "obese" to underweight. Good god and all.

She's done a lot of interviews about her weight loss @Aluna and, as I said, sometimes she contradicts herself but she often says she went too far. It's a while a go and I simply can't remember where I saw her and don't have time to trawl through looking

We can see went too far, that doesn’t mean she abused the pills. She didn’t need to.

Thindog · 13/12/2025 11:36

Gluttony is my second favourite sin, so being absolved by the power of mouranjo must be a good thing.

Only a non Catholic would have to ask ;)

Or non religious person.

Not a Catholic but completely understood the point.

Sharon Osborne had a similar experience. She now looks cadaverous and is really struggling to gain weight! Catholics preach that vanity is a sin but It is silly to feel guilty about trying to obtain a healthy weight. I feel really sorry that this has happened to you and hope your doctor can find a way to help you

Sharon Osbourne must be a medical marvel since long term appetite loss isn't a physiologically possible side effect of glp1 use

Frequency · 13/12/2025 11:50

It is a known side-effect for those who asked. Gastroparesis is part of how the drug works (slowing stomach emptying), but in rare cases, it can cause long-term gastroparesis. Usually, it will resolve on its own in time, but occasionally it needs medication or surgery.

Loss of appetite and (psychological) difficulty swallowing are symptoms of gastroparesis.

There is no evidence that GLP1a cause long term or permanent gastroparesis

IDontHateRainbows · 13/12/2025 11:54

Are you sure its definitely that? I had a horrible vomiting bug last summer and despite feeling well and back at work 4 days later I lost my appetite for a month. Have you had any bugs?

bleakmidwintering · 13/12/2025 11:55

I wish I could say the same. I’ve lost 6llbs in 2 months! I don’t think my weight gain is actually due to food noise. I’m not sure what to do but I’m jealous right now!

That doesn't seem too bad? I know some people lose a lot more quickly, but slow and steady is good too.

Ritaskitchen · 13/12/2025 12:12

I am also Catholic. You do not 'deserve it' There is nothing sinful about using GLP Jabs. Also I have realized that weight and gluttony are not always so straightforward. It’s not a sin to be fat.
Yes Gluttony is a sin- but it’s nuanced eg cravings, blood sugar issues can cause cravings as can PMT and issues like PCOS and nutritional deficiencies.
Also having calorie counted for the last 11 months I have realised how many many calories there are in takeaways, resturant meals, and modern convenience food! So I realised that a lot of my weight gain wasn’t gluttony at all. It was not understanding the sheer amount of calories in food.
Have you come off the GLP injections?
I would speak to your doctor and ask to speak to a specialist and get some tests to make sure nothing else is going in in your stomach and gut. Just to rule things out.

Was your relationship with your parish under threat after your weight loss? Or has Pope Leo declared MOUNJARO as a heretical medication or supplement? Or does it affect Anglicans, Baptists and Muslims as well?

Thank goodness that I have been an avowed agnostic for almost sixty years.

Oh dear. Sense of humour failure 🙄

Im the same. I have to force food down after losing 5 stone. I have no interest in food at all and I used to be a binger
im living on HUEL right now to get the calories in..

This stuff is not good. Raw oats and peas are not digestible. The synthetic nutrients they put in it are bad too. Doing it yourself properly i.e. having porridge for breakfast and pea soup for dinner is sensible and likely significantly cheaper.

MamaToABeautifulBoy · 12/12/2025 23:26

I’m Catholic, and there’s absolutely no theological basis for feeling guilty about weight-loss drugs. If they were a sin, they’d at least get a passing mention somewhere between Leviticus and Revelations.

Gluttony is the sin in Catholicism.
Taking a drug to 'undo' this sin would be potentially seen as cheating in the eyes of God and therefore punishable.

(I'm not religious but come from a catholic background)

Why wouldn't people believe it? It is a known but very rare side effect of GLP-1s. That's not to say it shouldn't be available to people who need it, but they should be aware of the potential side effects.

The cultish defense and obsession with GLP-1s is odd and worrying. It is a medication with potentially life-threatening side effects, not the second coming.

The benefits of it need to be weighed up against the side effects. It should only be used for people whose health is at serious risk from obesity, not for those who need to lose a couple of stones.

There is, but as I said, it is rare.

The conclusion of this study is as follows

Conclusions There is an increased incidence of gastroparesis among individuals with obesity without T2D who are using semaglutide as compared with bupropion-naltrexone and sleeve gastrectomy

That doesn't say anything about long term gastroparesis following cessation of the drug which is what is being claimed.

It's not though. Long term gastroparesis or appetite loss following cessation of GLP1s isn't evidenced.

I fear in a few more years, alot of women are going to come forward with problems due to the skinny jabs.
And really expose the real truth that wasn't giving to them in the first place.
Same as fillers and botox.

Some story's are already out there.
And it's just awful.
