Generally anywhere between late 20s to late 40s with a couple of outliers. Pretty sure at least one parent had grandchildren the same age.

Hesma · 10/12/2025 20:39

I was 44, another mum from my DDs class was 22… nobody cares!

I have a year 2 baby that was born two days before rhe school year cut off. I'm 40.

Meant to add...

My other children are y10, y9 and y6

Soggyspaniel · 10/12/2025 20:39

33 for me. But I feel on the younger side compared to the other parents, I don’t think you’re unusual x

GrooveArmada · 10/12/2025 20:39

I'll be 40 when my DC is Year 1. You're not old, OP.

Ladybugheart · 10/12/2025 20:41

I'm 33, my DDs dad, my husband, is 49. I've found a mix of parent ages in my daughter's year group , from what looks like young 20s to, well my husband's age lol

NoSoapJustUseShowerGel · 10/12/2025 20:42

The last time I was a y1 mum I was 36. I was probably towards the younger end of the fellow mums at the classroom door.

BusMumsHoliday · 10/12/2025 20:42

I'm 38 and a yr1 mum; quite a few of my friends with kids in the same class are over 40. I'll be 41 when DC2 starts year 1. Most mums in the year are within 5 years of me, but we're in an area where people have kids later.

ThatBluntZebra · 10/12/2025 20:42

40 for DD1, 42 for DD2 and will be 45 for DD3

PancakePatty · 10/12/2025 20:43

I will be 47 when my child goes in to Y1. We have a few years to go though!
I don’t feel old at playgroup even though all the other mums are younger than me.
My husband will be 51.

niclw · 10/12/2025 20:43

My child is in year 2 and i’m 45. I know that another set of parents in my child’s class are 49 and 54.

Daisypod · 10/12/2025 20:43

My youngest is only in reception but I’m 49 so by yr 2 I’ll be 51

herbalteabag · 10/12/2025 20:44

I was 33 and 41

cinnamonscented · 10/12/2025 20:44

When DC1 was in Y1 I was 27-28 and lots of the parents were starting to celebrate their 40th birthdays.
When DC3 was in Y1 I was about to celebrate my 40th.
It also depends on the school - I taught at a lovely school in a deprived area and there were lots of younger mums. The schools my kids were at had lots of parents older than me, even by the time I had DC3.

ByronKoala · 10/12/2025 20:45

I was also 42. Not old whatsoever nowadays and I definitely didn’t feel any different to the younger mums. DD went to a prep school so parents were all a bit older in general - I definitely wasn’t the odd one.

WarriorN · 10/12/2025 20:45

I was 46

notthatoldchestnut · 10/12/2025 20:45

I was 40/41 when my kids were in year 1

DappledThings · 10/12/2025 20:46

I was 42 and 44 when DC were in year 1.

When I was 44 with DC2 there were a couple of mums about the.same age as me, and a couple only just into their 20s.

It's a huge range.

WarriorN · 10/12/2025 20:47

And there are several mums my age

Maybeitllneverhappen · 10/12/2025 20:48

My daughter is 33 and so was I when she was in year 1. Felt pretty average then and same for her now.

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 10/12/2025 20:48

41 but they are DC3. The Mums in the class range from 32-49

Italiandreams · 10/12/2025 20:49

43 with a preschooler, will be 45 when he is year 1

georgiams · 10/12/2025 20:49

25 with my oldest, 31 with my youngest

BravebutBroken · 10/12/2025 20:50

I was 28 when my oldest was in year 1 and 31 with my youngest. They're now year 8 and year 5. I've always been one of the youngest mums

TaxDragon · 10/12/2025 20:50

I'm 47 and my youngest is in Yr 1.
