I’m 35, but I do have older children too.

AliasGrape · 13/12/2025 22:02

I’m 46. I’m one of the older mums but not the oldest, and the average is around 38/39 I think. Ever since having DD pretty much all the mums I’ve come across have been in their mid 30s upwards, a mum in her 20s would probably stand out much more. In fact my niece was 23 when she had her first and 25 when she had her second and says she felt very much like the odd one out at the school gate (different school but same general area).

I was nearly 39 when my youngest was born so I dunno are they ages 6 in yr 1? Can't remember now...but I estimate I was 45 at that time so don't worry at all x
Older mums have more life experience and so much to give xx

41, but this is my 3rd rodeo. I was 32 first time round. The younger parents all seem to be very keen and like their WhatsApp groups and socials. I cannot be arsed with that nonsense anymore 😂

tellmesomethingtrue · 14/12/2025 00:56

38

I'm 50 and my wife is 52, got one in year 1 and another in pre-school. Came into parenthood a bit later but loving every minute of it.

Mainly 35-45 with a few outliers either side.

I was 44 when I gave birth to my now year 5-er. A couple of Mums also my age. Never bothered me. Maybe more common in London?

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 14/12/2025 19:49

I was 47 when DD was in Y1 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nameymcnamechange25 · 14/12/2025 19:57

I'm 41. Others I know who had children in the same class as my eldest are a similar age so would have been 38 last time round! There's a couple who are a bit older (46 into early 50s) then a couple who are a bit younger. Most I would say are late 30s/eadly 40s.

bryceQ · 14/12/2025 19:59

I was 34/5 last year with my son and was one of the younger ones

JoDea · 14/12/2025 20:52

I’m 47 & my LO is in reception 👍

CandidRaven · 14/12/2025 21:13

I was 24 for my oldest and was noticeably younger than the other mums

Shopsrshut23 · 15/12/2025 07:22

46 and wasn't even the eldest. 2 same age as me and several over 40. This was a one class entry RC school in an ordinary town in Essex. Their teacher, however, was 22, in her first job. Seemed rather popular with the dads 😄

Mydoglovescheese · 15/12/2025 09:09

29 for my eldest child and 37 for my youngest. Child’s position in the family makes a difference.

sfd146 · 15/12/2025 17:36

I’m not I’m gran to a year 3 but the ones I know go from 40’s 30’s and 20’s. I was a year 1 mum at 44 I thought I was going to be the oldest and people would think I was granny. But no there was seven of us late 30’s and into 40’s. Women often have careers now and have children later.

Dapplesun · 17/12/2025 07:34

I was 29 with my first child
34 with my Second
