OP posts:
YeahChangedMyUsernameAgain · 10/12/2025 21:33

I'm 42 and my eldest is in yr1. With DC2, I'll be 44 when he starts year 1 and DC3 I'll be 46! You're fine!! X

anniegun · 10/12/2025 21:34

Average age of a first time mum is just under 30. So by year one typically first child 35, second child 37-39. However thats an average so it will vary a lot

mynameiscalypso · 10/12/2025 21:34

I was 41. About average I’d say. There are a few outliers but I’d say most of us are around 40.

FancyCatSlave · 10/12/2025 21:34

I’m 47

YourAquaLion · 10/12/2025 21:36

43 with a 5yo here, ur in good company OP! No one cares, loads of us elderly mothers here these days. My friend with same age kid is 47 in May! And another is 48. Many miscarriages between us and finally we all have one precious kid each later in life. Just enjoy what you have xx

FilthyforFirth · 10/12/2025 21:36

37 with my first and will be 41 next year with my 2nd. Was a youngish mum for DS1 but seem to be an oldish mum for DS2 even though only 3.5 years between them

FortyFacedFuckers · 10/12/2025 21:36

I was in my early twenties but some of them were double my age, I was really worried about being judged but I became really good friends with a few that were between 15-20 years older than me, it honestly doesn’t matter

Friendlyfart · 10/12/2025 21:37

I was late 30s w my two DCs. Pretty average where I was although my DD’s class had more older mums. DS’s were def younger on the whole.

LeopardPrintIsNeutral · 10/12/2025 21:37

I’m 30 with an aug 2020 birthday I’m slightly younger than average here
I’m currently pregnant and will be 34/35 when dc starts reception
I live in a small village though, if I was in one of the neighbouring larger towns I’d be an old mum due to high level of teenage pregnancy
it’s all relative I guess

When my DC was in y1, the youngest mum of our intake group was 25, the oldest was 48.

WimbyAce · 10/12/2025 21:38

My youngest is in Year 1, I am 46. My eldest is in Year 6.

Theroadt · 10/12/2025 21:38

When my oldest was in Y1 I was 47

ItsameLuigi · 10/12/2025 21:40

26 with dc1 27 with dc2😅

CosyDenimShark · 10/12/2025 21:41

34 with DS1 & 39 with DS2

Bluefloor · 10/12/2025 21:41

I was 27 when my child was in year 1 and I felt very young compared to all the other mums. I went to a few 40th birthday meals for the other mums around that time, so the majority were late 30s early 40s.

Riojaroundtheclock · 10/12/2025 21:41

I was 43 and 48. Most mums were late 30s/early 40s.

Pistachiocake · 10/12/2025 21:43

They varied from 26-52 at my school. The vast majority were 35-40.

lessglittermoremud · 10/12/2025 21:43

I have one in year 1 and I’m the same age as you, he is our third child and the youngest.
i would say in my child’s year most of the parents are aged 35 upwards, there are a couple in their mid twenties but I don’t look around at pick ups and feel old!

xMonochromeRainbowx · 10/12/2025 21:43

25 with eldest, 26 with middle and will be 28 with current youngest child. But I'm also pregnant so will be 32/33 with this one.

CPHB2021 · 10/12/2025 21:43

26 for my first DC, currently have my middle DC in year 1, and I’m 29, I’ll be 34 with my third DC. X

TeamGeriatric · 10/12/2025 21:44

I was 41 when my oldest started Year 1 and 44 when my youngest started. We seem to have a bit of a range at our school, several who were around my age, but also some as much as 15 years younger than me.

elliejjtiny · 10/12/2025 21:44

I was 29 for my eldest and 37 for my youngest. I was about average for ds1 and nearly the oldest for ds5.

lifeonmars100 · 10/12/2025 21:44

I was 33, I felt so old, now I look back and realise I was young. The other mums ranged from 20s to 40s

sunshinestar1986 · 10/12/2025 21:44

With my first I was 28 when my daughter was in year 1 and and with my son I'll be 42.
I must say that at 28, I was one of the youngest there.
Most of the mums were in their late 30s and 40s.
But my mum had 3 kids after 40 so that normal to me.

Geranium879 · 10/12/2025 21:45

40, she’s my youngest of two
