Answer me this- if you have a nurse/doctor from Isreal or Israeli decent….. will you not be seen by them?

I wasn't aware but I think there's a huge difference between not wanting to participate in something that promotes a country and not being treated by an individual from that country.

I don’t. I have friends who won’t talk to a fellow colleague because she’s from Isreal. Absolutely pathetic!

If Russia aren’t allowed to participate in the Eurovision why should Israel be?

Because Russia aggressively attacked a country . Isreal were defending themselves .

They are members of the European Broadcasting Union, same as Australia. Being in Europe has nothing to do with it.

I'm still constantly baffled by it still being called Eurovison when non European countries have appeared.
And yes I'm pissed off about Israel and Russia being part of it for other reasons too

Eurovision is attended not by individuals but by representatives of each country/state. Refusing to take part on principle is quite different from avoiding individuals from that country, which would be wrong.

Israel has completely gone past defending itself.

Completely different situation because Russia were the aggressor.
Israel are at war because they were attacked by an invasion of terrorists across the border into their country & hundreds of civilians i.e. babies, children women, elderly people were attacked, raped, mutilated, kidnapped & murdered. Israel were responding to acts of aggression by Hamas & then Hezbollah, Houtis, Iraq. They did not start the war.

What they have done literally obliterating every building in gaza isn't defending themselves

And Hamas attacked Israel because THEY had seen their children shot dead by the IDF. It’s primitive tit-for-tat that Israel and Hamas need to rise above. With the onus absolutely on Israel to take the lead to find PEACE, what with them holding literally all the power, all the agency, all the funds, and all the resources.

I can see why Israel ‘defended’ itself, which in this context would have been a day or two of bombing. What they have done is genocide.Sustained genocide over a period of years.

The criticism with Eurovision is that the second Russian troops stepped into Ukraine they were kicked out of Eurovision. But Israel have came close to winning twice now since the invasion of Palestine and it would have been the end of the contest. I love Eurovision and I believe Israel has a right to exist but it’s not hard to see the hypocrisy in the situation the contest has found itself in.

TBH Israel is NOT in Europe anyway. They should join the Middle East Song Contest.

Im Irish and I am glad that RTE has made this decision. I dont want my television licence fee to fund access to a competition that actively allows Israel to manipulate votes, harass contestants backstage and break the rules of the contest so blatantly.

If Russia cant compete, neither should Israel. Or any other country involved in sustained genocidal activities.
