Whoever has pulled out of the Eurovision because Isreal are competing….. pathetic!

Spain, Ireland … to name a few.

Answer me this- if you have a nurse/doctor from Isreal or Israeli decent….. will you not be seen by them?

Delusional

Starving, blowing to pieces and burning alive thousands of CIVILIANS is not defence.

🙄

You a flag holder at a festival????
Chant free Palestine whenever possible??
why aren’t you lot chanting about what’s going on in Sudan at the moment???

“you lot”?

The us and them narrative is the entire problem.

I am completely playing devil’s advocate here.

Six million Jews were murdered by the Nazi’s less than 100 years ago.

Yes I agree they have responded to the Hamas attack disproportionately but perhaps it’s an inherent fear of their culture being culled?

I don’t agree with singers from any country being disallowed from competing in contests, it brings politics into music which is not necessary. Convicted criminals fair enough but being ostracised because of where you are born is or what your religious upbringing is, is just hard to understand and continues division.

Just my opinion and doubt many will agree but you can’t choose where or what you are born into.

Israel has murdered countless children and other civilians in a barbaric fashion. What did you expect op?

SpaceRaccoon · 04/12/2025 21:32

Celestialmoods · 04/12/2025 21:26

Someone talking about this on the radio earlier related it to the boycott of apartheid South Africa and made the very good point that it helps send a message to a population about how they are viewed by the rest of the world, which eventually is part of what stops governments doing the wrong thing.

Standing up to apartheid governments is not pathetic. What’s pathetic is stamping your feet because being unable to completely hide from the genocide is uncomfortable for you.

Edited

I'd imagine Israelis are more concerned about not being massacred again than what various leftie virtue signallers in the West think of them.

Ah yes totally, one genocide completely justifies the committing of another? Are you quite well? Never again means ever again for everyone.

Timesquaredy · 04/12/2025 21:33

Isreal has committed war crimes and should not be represented at Eurovision. I hope the UK boycotts too.

The war with Hamas is not a genocide, unless you think the British committed genocide against the Germans in the second world war.

ilovesooty · 04/12/2025 20:09

Neither is Australia. It's more complicated than "being in Europe".

Australia shouldn’t be in it either!

oneinataxioneinacar · 04/12/2025 21:34

Israel went so far past defending itself.
Defence would have been bombing of strategic sites and some sanctions etc.

They flattened an entire country and obliterated a population.

That's genocide not defence

That doesnt mean I hate individuals from Israel. I like to think a lot of them are appalled at what their government has done, for starters.

I certainly dont associate being Jewish with the actions of the Israeli government. Most Jewish people I know are quite vociferous in their condemnation of the Israeli government's actions

OmNomShiva · 04/12/2025 21:35

SpaceRaccoon · 04/12/2025 21:13

Because the perpetrators of the terrorist attack had tunnelled under said areas - blame them.

You’re allowed to dig tunnels. There is no justifying Israel’s behaviour. That country should be shunned from all competitions until it takes responsibility for its abhorrent violence.

How dare you defend the atrocities of the IDF against women and children, it’s sickening.

Thanks, I knew despite my saying their attack was disproportionate that I would at least get a few misunderstood comments.

Do you think the IDF are supplying singers to the Eurovision?

Why be so stereotypical against an individual singer? What harm are they doing? What does it matter where they come from?

If you read my post I said I don’t think what Israel has and is doing is right but surely an individual Israeli cannot be held to account for the actions of their military?

I want to see more Jews and Israelis showing their disgust for what has been done to Palestine. The whole world knows.

Completely different situation because Russia were the aggressor.
Israel are at war because they were attacked by an invasion of terrorists across the border into their country & hundreds of civilians i.e. babies, children women, elderly people were attacked, raped, mutilated, kidnapped & murdered. Israel were responding to acts of aggression by Hamas & then Hezbollah, Houtis, Iraq. They did not start the war.

Israel’s actions have clearly moved far beyond what is necessary from a defensive perspective, as is obvious to everyone with eyes.

Ukraine blowing up the Kerch bridge between Crimea and Russia and incidentally killing a few Russian civilians in the process is a justified defensive action. Israeli soldiers sodomising Palestinian detainees with sharp objects is not. That is vengeance, not defence.

I fully support Israel’s right to exist within its 1948 borders, and to defend those borders with necessary force, but that doesn’t mean I have to turn a blind eye to their blatant - and extremely well-documented - human rights abuses.

The issue is nowhere near as black and white as you are making it out to be.

OP - it’s spelt ‘Israel’, not ‘Isreal.’ Kind of an odd mistake for someone who’s apparently such a big fan of the place to make.

Heronwatcher · 04/12/2025 21:44

I think it also needs to be borne in mind that Israel has also been using Eurovision as a propaganda exercise, trying to capitalise on the conflict (they had to change the lyrics to Hurricane, originally called October rain, because they were originally judged too political by the EBU). I think there is a feeling that if Israel themselves bring politics into the contest, can they be surprised if it backfires.

Plus their voting is extremely dubious, hence the most recent changes.

I don’t care if Russia competes either? Do I hold their singer accountable? Absolutely not! I don’t understand the disgust to be honest, it’s a singing competition.

If my child was refused to take part in a school competition because of their religion or nationality I would be disgusted. I do not understand what the issue is with members of contentious countries taking part!!!

LlynTegid · 04/12/2025 21:44

Israel should never have been in the contest, nor Australia. They are not in Europe.

My feeling is that the contest will still be watched by a similar audience as normal, even if say ten countries withdraw.

Israel commit genocide but get upset that countries boycott the Eurovision, well guess what if you don’t like it look at your own actions and stop killing Palestinians.

Israel has completely gone past defending itself.

they have committed genocide and ethnic cleansing.

of course they shouldn’t compete.

and just don’t with the anti-semetism comments I’m far from it and sick and tired to death of being accused of it because I stand with Palestine.

This!

If Russia aren’t allowed to participate in the Eurovision why should Israel be?

🙄 because Russia invaded Ukraine aggressively. Whilst Israel were defending themselves from terrorists and trying to retrieve the people kidnapped by Hamas. Can’t you see the difference?
