Why does Taylor Swift fall out with everyone?

I've never known anyone so famous for ditching people and then writing songs about them. Why is she so popular? She seems utterly toxic to me.

You don’t know that she does fall out with everyone.

You just know the gossip written about her in the tabloid press and online.

I presume she’s popular because people enjoy her music. You don’t have to listen if it’s not for you

NoOneToTextWhenThePlaneLands · 17/10/2025 09:42

Something about her has changed in the last few years I think. I am a fan of some of her music but the last year or so has been eye opening. She changes her mind on her politics like she changes her knickers and she seems to do whatever will make her the most money.

A lot of song writers, write about relationships both the good and the bad of them.
But that isn’t all she writes about it’s just what the press highlight
im not even a Taylor music fan but you can’t reduce her huge catalog down to just that

Where has she changed her mind on politics? That’s a broad statement and I can’t find anything to back this up.

I think this kind of makes the point. She’s so big and people make up shit about her. Looking at my own life and toxic people I’ve encountered, friends I’ve dropped… I imagine that’s multiplied significantly if you’re a billionaire celebrity with everyone wanting a piece of you.

She was very much endorsing the democrats and is now strongly associated with multiple MAGA supporters.

TigTails · 17/10/2025 09:50

Aren’t people claiming she’s a Nazi supporter now? 😵‍💫

Endofyear · 17/10/2025 09:50

Does she? Or is it just stuff that's made up in the media?

You don’t have any friends or family that vote differently to you?

Tryingatleast · 17/10/2025 09:50

Funny you say that as everyone has been commenting the last year on the lack of her discussion on politics lately. She’s young, when you’re young you speak out and then change your mind according to how life experiences have changed your views.

Op I’d guess at that level of fame it’s difficult to have real friends and not to be paranoid, I’d say life just pushes her away from people. Weirdly I think it must be lonely being her

SpottyAardvark · 17/10/2025 09:52

Because she is a very shrewd businesswoman who understands her target market & gives them exactly what they want by feeding the narratives which drive their brand loyalty. And she writers catchy songs.

I do, but I have also cut ties with friends who have endorsed things like MAGA.

She isn't MAGA though. She is vociferously anti Trump.

She used to be vocally anti Trump.

she now spends a lot of time with a lot of people who vocally support Trump.

How weird
You say that as though you are sop proud and superior
I have friends who are communists and very right and totally not interested
I understand that everyone is entitled to a different opinion and has different perspectives based on their own experiences backgrounds etc

She’s not a MAGA supporter. Having friends with different opinions is fine so long as you can be respectful (something I heard her say in an interview). Trump hates her and I think that feeling is mutual. I’m fairly sure there’s some quiet reform supporters in my friendship group, but we don’t talk about politics. They are still my friends.

Yes I am very proud of that. MAGA stands for everything I am against. They are against human rights for vast swathes of the population and they are against reproductive rights for women, amongst other things. People who believe in that are not people I want to be associated with.

HermioneWeasley · 17/10/2025 10:01

More than half the country voted for Trump it’s not a niche position. Not cutting off everyone who voted for him doesn’t mean she’s frequently changing her political views.

the team from the Eras tour are incredibly loyal to her which I think reflects well on her.

yes she uses her real life relationships as inspiration for her art, as so many men also do and have done

I thought so, too.

Just because she has a fiancé who plays American football doesn’t make her a MAGA supporter (and nor does it make him one - no idea tbh).

She’s one of the most famous women on the planet so she’s going to be gossiped about, frequently inaccurately.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 17/10/2025 10:03

Define ‘everyone’.

No, she isn't. That is an absurd false narrative. Kelce is not Maga, nor are his family. I'm not a Swiftie but the way she is talked about is absurd.

In America that’s really, really hard to do.

As a pp pointed out as unbelievable as it seems to us, Trump was democratically elected. Plenty of otherwise sensible, educated people voted for the Republican option.

It’s not healthy to only have one type of friends or to exist in a vacuum.

As far as I can see Taylor Swift puts her money where her values are regarding treating her staff well, giving large amounts to charity in the cities where she performs etc.

Objectively she is a talented, successful and powerful woman. Historically society doesn't treat powerful women well, regardless of who they are friends with.

Is he?

He publicly supported the COVID vaccine campaign and took the knee multiple times to support BLM and Kaepernick. Doesn't seem particularly MAGA to me.
