Why does Taylor Swift fall out with everyone?

I've never known anyone so famous for ditching people and then writing songs about them. Why is she so popular? She seems utterly toxic to me.

I like her personally .All kinds of shit is written by DM and the popular press .Lots of Artists bring out music similarly .She is honest ,hardworking and extremely talented .What's not to like?

releasing re-recorded songs to stop other female artists from hitting records…

What nonsense. She rerecorded her back catalogue to retain control of her own music. If people want to buy it, great. If not, they won't sell.

There isn't a restricted number of female records allowed, you know. Swift isn't singlehandedly creating an impediment to other artists by being prolific.

She's a supremely talented business woman with a great deal of control over her image and her career. Good on her.

Billie Eilish was on track to debut her album at number 1 when Taylor Swift swooped in with yet another round of album variants to stop this from happening. It seemed very strategic. Taylor got a hit of backlash for it at the time. I’m not making this up lol.

Yup. She released 34 variants of the life of a showgirl (27 physical, 7 digital) in order to beat Adele’s record. 34. Each one had something limited edition about it to pull fans in.

Pline · 17/10/2025 11:16

I think she comes off pretty well in terms of her personality but she completely rinses her fans. Taylor knows her fans will buy any old shit she puts out. So often literally releases the same shit with maybe the only difference being the colour of the disc being different. Same cover art etc. And you will have obsessed fans who buy them all. 30 bloody variants of the same album. She is laughing her way to the bank!

boxofbuttons · 17/10/2025 11:18

NoOneToTextWhenThePlaneLands · 17/10/2025 11:02

And then after releasing those, bought back her masters!

or releases 34 variants of an album to break a record set by Adele, who released one album.

Charli XCX did 22 variants of Brat. Olivia Rodrigo did 18 of her album. Releasing multiple variants is now fairly standard for artists wanting to break records/who have a big fanbase. I think it's pretty horrible for anyone to do it, but you can't really complain that arguably the biggest pop star in the world is doing so when there's precedent AND demand for it.

Member984815 · 17/10/2025 11:18

I don't know her personally, so I can't say if she falls out with people . I do think she trys to avoid controversy but that's understandable given the horrible time she's had in the past in the press. I enjoy some of her music and don't think too deeply about her private life. She's made a lot of money fair play to her.

But it’s often 99% the same. It’s a complete cash grab. Taylor and her team know how to cultivate a parasocial relationship with fans to basically rinse them for every single penny.

JadziaD · 17/10/2025 11:19

NoOneToTextWhenThePlaneLands · 17/10/2025 10:42

No, it’s not.

she is strongly and closely associated with multiple MAGA cult members. She is a multi billionaire which is an inherently unethical thing to be. She exploits her fans and uses marketing to take on other women in the industry because she’s obsessed with being the biggest and best thing.

I wish the laughing emoji was still available. this is hilarious.

She absolutely "exploits" her fans. if you mean.... comes up with lots of things they want to buy and are happy to pay for.

On that basis, dd is being massively exploited.

I am being hugely exploited by Amazon, Waitrose, Mint Velvet and Cult Beauty as well.

Exactly. One or two LE tracks or a LE cover and people go feral for it. When you divide the number of sales the latest album made by the number of variants it’s about 130k per variant. Nothing impressive about it to be honest.

AngeloMysterioso · 17/10/2025 11:20

So let me get this straight… she’s a bitch for ditching people, but shes also a bitch for not ditching people?

22 is 1/3 less than 34, though? Surely you see why 34 is absolutely insane.

She changes her mind on her politics like she changes her knickers
Funny you say that as everyone has been commenting the last year on the lack of her discussion on politics lately. She’s young, when you’re young you speak out and then change your mind according to how life experiences have changed your views.

Op I’d guess at that level of fame it’s difficult to have real friends and not to be paranoid, I’d say life just pushes her away from people. Weirdly I think it must be lonely being her

She's not young, she's 35 😆

I find her to be completely disingenuous. She talks about how she gets more stick compared to male artists re her personal life. But Ed Sheeran isn’t writing thinly veiled digs into song lyrics about huge celebs Jake Gylenhaal, Harry Styles etc. Taylor drops tonnes of Easter Eggs specifically to create parasociality. It’s profitable for her. Then she complains about being bitten by the monster she herself has created. No other celeb is dating an uber celeb every couple of years and then bitching about them in number 1 songs. Don’t use the female oppression card, Taylor. It’s diluting.

She’s much more calculating than the image she puts out. Ie rinsing her fans with “special copies” that are no different, releasing re-recorded songs to stop other female artists from hitting records…

Edited

”Don’t” - Ed Sheeran

well known to be written about Ellie Goulding

second verse-

On my hotel door
I don't even know if she knows what for
She was crying on my shoulder, I already told ya
Trust and respect is what we do this for
I never intended to be next (you bastard)
But you didn't need to take him to bed, that's all
And I never saw him as a threat (you bastard)
Until you disappeared with him to have sex, of course
It's not like we were both on tour
We were staying on the same fucking hotel floor
And I wasn't looking for a promise or commitment
But it was never just fun, and I thought you were different
This is not the way you realized what you wanted
It's a bit too much, too late if I'm honest
And all this time, God knows I'm singing

(the “him” is widely believed to be referring to Niall Horan from One Direction)

She used to be vocally anti Trump.

she now spends a lot of time with a lot of people who vocally support Trump.

People I love support Farage. I don't stop loving them for being, in my eyes, wrong and deluded.

You do know that nobody has to buy them, right? And if people think she’s timing her releases to beat X or Y person to a number one spot or a record, well there’s nothing stopping that person’s fans from mobilising to make sure it doesn’t happen. But they don’t. She’s nurtured an enormous, loyal and passionate fan base and should be applauded for that, but everyone uses it as another stick to beat her with.

You don’t have any friends or family that vote differently to you?

There are quite a few MN lefties that consider anyone to the right of Jeremy Corbyn to be a fascist who should be cut out of your life completely.

NoOneToTextWhenThePlaneLands · 17/10/2025 11:27

i also found her latest album completely out of touch. She spent the entire thing whining about how hard her life is, how she’s hated by the entire industry and she’s public enemy number one.

A couple days later it’s announced that she’s now worth 2 billion. Get real

Of course they don’t. But she uses FOMO marketing to make people feel like they’ll be missing out on something huge if they don’t buy them all. Making songs available for twenty four hours only to make sure people buy the latest variant

So fucking what?! She can write about whatever she likes. What would you prefer for her to write about?

Are people not allowed to dislike her? Personally I much preferred folklore and evermore.

35 is young for someone to be expected to give opinions on politics
