I am looking to redecorate, my kitchen is very tired. I want something neutral enough or possibly light green. Anyone want to show me their kitchens for ideas? im really bad at this and find googling images just gives me perfect instagram kitchens. Thank you

Rightmove is useful for this.

Mine’s an absolute tip so no way am I showing a photo, but I’ve got cream shaker cupboard doors, brown marbley worktop and floor, copper handles, and mustard yellow on the walls (sounds quite strong but it’s a big kitchen diner with a roof lantern and it works). When it’s clean and tidy it looks lovely, about once a year! If I were redoing it I’d go for flat cupboard doors. Much as I love the look of shaker style, it’s faff to clean. Flat ones you can quickly wipe down would be better.

A friend of mine is just redoing her kitchen with flat oak doors, cream worktop, and sage green walls, which I think looks gorgeous.

It's long and thin so there's not that much that could be done, but I have maximised both storage and work surface. There is a big fridge freezer near the camera on the left, my sink is near the camera on the right with a window over, and more full length cupboards behind the camera. All top cabinets are cream, to maximise light and give the effect of more space.

Here's mine. The walls are kind of an off white/cream with a pinkish undertone. It's north facing and not a very light room but the colours add warmth.

Mine is currently a building site, but the cabinets, when there are cabinets, will be painted Inchyra blue and the walls a sort of olive. I like a dark room.

These kitchens are lovely. Did you get a kitchen planner in or do it yourselves? I have no idea on where to start.

bilbodog · 12/09/2025 16:19

Recently had mine done in pale yellow and green

Here’s mine! It was all built by hand as my walls are very wonky.

Are only people with massive kitchens responding to this or does all of Mumsnet have huge, fancy kitchens?!

KylieKangaroo · 12/09/2025 16:36

I don't hence why I won't be posting mine. Loving everyone else's though!

This is my very small Victorian terrace kitchen a couple of years ago when it was new.
Very busy today cleaning the grout between the floor tiles as they are no longer cream! Lesson learnt

This is going into my new house next week, it's not neutral or light green but I love it!

I just did my kitchen after living here for 14 years. Hard to believe its the same footprint (3mx3m). It's white as it only has a skylight, so needed to maximise the brightness in that corner. It started as peach, which i painted about 10 years ago and replaced the hardware. The painted cabinets were still perfect when they were replaced and counter only marked on the high use edges. I fully recommend painting to get you through until you can put in new cupboards. Plus it helped me realise I actually wanted white cabinets, not off white, so a much cheaper way to find that out! The kitchen has much better functionality now and isn't crowded when there's more than one person in there. Plus that corner pantry took me from 60cm to 2m shelves. I love it! Plus there's now no corner cupboards - I hate corner cupboards.

Try uploading a photo of your kitchen to Microsoft copilot and ask it to change the colour of your cabinets - it did a great mock up of my kitchen.

Co pilot allows multiple image generations whereas Chatgpt has a limit of 2 per 24 hours.

We have a similarly narrow kitchen (in fact I think ours is even narrower!) and we’re planning on getting ours redone soon so I’m glad to see your post! Looks lovely.

I love this! So many neutral colours these days, this sort of pops but in a lovely way.
