You can't see mine as it's way too shit, but I'm loving these kitchens! Really want to get mine redone, as everything about it is awful, but I can't afford it.

I don't even know how if I'm honest! Would need to move out for a couple of weeks or however long it takes. How do people do it?

Ours took a week and a half to do and made such a difference. We went to IKEA and used their design service . I already knew some of the things I wanted (wall units used as base units on one side to allow space for our table, solid wood worktops, a double sink and using patterned ceramic handles bought from a company in India via Etsy rather than any of the IKEA ones) and their designer worked with that and the measurements to come up with something that we really loved and that uses all the space. They suggested incorporating more drawers and I would do that again-its so much easier to access everything at the back.

And in my case the pictures were taken by the estate agent because we're selling. All the crap was jammed into cupboards and drawers 🤣

Puglife1234 · 12/09/2025 21:02

Love this

TeenLifeMum · 12/09/2025 21:11

Currently a tip but here’s one from Christmas that’s making me want to decorate early just looking at it 😂

Mine is green and simple, we have limited space but also a baby so added a table in the middle of the room, so we can all eat together. The bannister/posts are now also sage green but haven't got a photo of this.

Love the cat on top of the cupboards. I used to have one that did this. 😹

longtompot · 12/09/2025 21:18

@newrubylane thank you for sharing your kitchen. Those colours are what I have been thinking of for ours but the green for walls and white for the cupboard doors. The wall colour is quite similar to the cupboard paint I've tested which has a bit of a pinky undertone which I wasn't sure would go with green, but I can now see it does. Ours is also north facing, well north, north west.

PapardelleFitzgerald · 12/09/2025 21:19

Here's mine, not sure it's useful to anyone else as the room is ancient & quirky and can't take fitted cabinets; but I love it after 20 years of army quarters.

This is fantastic to hear. Thinking of similar colours for our north facing kitchen. Thank you!

It's At The Barre by Valspar, if that helps.

Ohh just coming to say what beautiful kitchens. Won't be showing mine as it is a 1980s wood kitchen 😂but well done ladies, kitchens are on fire. Not literally thank god.

Greycatclub · 12/09/2025 22:20

Pretty neutral over here!

Recently had mine done in pale yellow and green

Do you mind me asking who made this? It reminds me of Murdock Troon, which we keep seeing on Facebook and quite fancy.

https://espc.com/property/78a-argyle-crescent-joppa-eh15-2qd/36332467 edited to say that the kitchen is the room I'll miss most of/when we move. It's north facing, and the Edinburgh press in the corner makes a fantastic pantry.

Edited

What’s an Edinburgh press?

@Miserygutsandtheblastedcold and everyone else saying how tidy these kitchens look.... I purposely designed mine to have LOADS of storage and nowhere to put junk simply because I'm not naturally a tidy person! We have a dishwasher, which helps, but I expect there was some hand washed stuff on the drainer (out of view) as I prefer to let things drip dry rather than using a teatowel. And there is quite often a little pile of recycling on the windowsill next to the door waiting to be put in the bin... cereal packets, amazon bags etc. We have a small recycling bin outside the back door but if it's raining it tends to collect on the windowsill.

sweetgingercat · 12/09/2025 22:56

OP, there is an FB group called UK Kitchen Reviews (DIY Kitchens, Wren, Howdens, Magnet, Wickes, B&Q, IKEA). There are loads of pictures there for people who have just recently done their kitchens. They are real people's kitchens not AI or unreal magazine quality. * *

Are only people with massive kitchens responding to this or does all of Mumsnet have huge, fancy kitchens?!

Mine is a galley 2mx2m!

kitchenplans · 12/09/2025 23:20

This is mine, Cashmere with F&B Bancha breakfast bar.

I chose sage green at the last minute - really glad I did. And pan drawers - best thing, better than lots of cupboards.

Interesting, we have a similar colour in our living room (also north facing). Thank you.
