I am looking to redecorate, my kitchen is very tired. I want something neutral enough or possibly light green. Anyone want to show me their kitchens for ideas? im really bad at this and find googling images just gives me perfect instagram kitchens. Thank you

You can't see mine as it's way too shit, but I'm loving these kitchens! Really want to get mine redone, as everything about it is awful, but I can't afford it.

I don't even know how if I'm honest! Would need to move out for a couple of weeks or however long it takes. How do people do it?

Instahome2 · 12/09/2025 17:09

My current kitchen is a horrendous 90s one, I haven't decided what we want yet. I loved my old tiny 2.5m x 3m kitchen we had fitted. Cream shaker framed doors, solid oak worktop, grey textured tiles, large ceramic sink. Glass splashback over the textured grey tiles behind the induction hob.

I wouldn't recommend framed units again though, a pain to get stuff out of the cupboards.

This is my very small Victorian terrace kitchen a couple of years ago when it was new.
Very busy today cleaning the grout between the floor tiles as they are no longer cream! Lesson learnt

This is gorgeous!

Are only people with massive kitchens responding to this or does all of Mumsnet have huge, fancy kitchens?!

Mine is completely the wrong colour to inspire op so I’m off the hook for posting pictures. It’s also roughly the size of a postage stamp!

@elliesmummy19 . Some of the things I am so SO glad we did.... the light coloured top cupboards, all cupboards right up to the ceiling, as much uninterrupted counter space as possible, one wall as floor to ceiling cupboards, and DRAWERS! Every bottom cupboard is drawers, except where not possible. Expensive though. If it is in the budget I would definitely recommend drawers - even drawers instead of fancy doors. We chose not to have handles as every inch of width counts.

And as the kitchen is so long and thin we have the coffee station at the opposite end to the sink. We were going to put in an additional cold tap down that end but ran out of money, (thinking about doing it now though as we do have the pipework to do it) however we did put in an undercounter fridge for milk, drinks, butter, the things we use for breakfast. You can't see it but we have a small breakfast area on the other side of the coffee station and having those things in the small fridge at that end means that nobody has to get in my way in the main part of the kitchen, especially as the toaster is down that end too.

I don’t have a huge fancy kitchen. But it’s not been done either, apart from I’ve painted the walls and tiles and added shelves, pictures and plants. Might post a pic when I get around to tidying it.

NoPeasForTheWicked · 12/09/2025 17:58

This is mine, the cupboards are Little Greene Clay which has got a slightly green undertone so might suit you, OP.

Mine is green and simple, we have limited space but also a baby so added a table in the middle of the room, so we can all eat together. The bannister/posts are now also sage green but haven't got a photo of this.

Gosh, this is absolutely gorgeous and what I would have if we had the space. Love it!

Recently had mine done in pale yellow and green

I absolutely love this. Touch of the old working farmhouse with the flagstone floor. Bit of personality with the wallpaper and colour choices. So inviting and cosy and original.

All beautiful but this one I think is my favourite. Like I could sit and read a book here as easily as cook something! Very cosy and unique! 💛

This is really good advice, thank you! We hadn’t thought of having the cabinets right up to the ceiling. Genius! The drawers are also a clever idea. Do you feel like they give you more space?

Here's mine. The walls are kind of an off white/cream with a pinkish undertone. It's north facing and not a very light room but the colours add warmth.

This is fantastic to hear. Thinking of similar colours for our north facing kitchen. Thank you!

Thank you - the units are from Howdens and I had them spray painted before they were installed. The quartz worktop is from Gemini and the Rayburn was already in the house when I bought it (hence the green tones in the kitchen!)
