I would love a house with a utility room, it would be on wish list if I ever had the opportunity to move and choose without money being a factor!

My new house had two utilities so I’ve just changed one into a boot room. Awesome but the kids still wear their muddy boots through the kitchen😂

Lovely kitchen @NavyTurtle , love the beams and your lamp.

Two utilities!! 🫠. I'd use one for laundry and one for ironing, but would still not have a bootroom 😅.
Ha, cheeky kids,

my last house was built in the 50s (ex council so cheaper than new builds) and it had a utility room. It also had an old coal store under the stairs, had i stayed in it i would have unboarded it and created a pantry in the utility room.

I plan on buying an older house next time I move just for things like a utility room.

Pantries are the most wonderful thing ever. They must be walk ins with good worktops though, not those things that are essentially a cupboard in the kitchen.

Know what you mean, but with limited space, a cupboard is a dream. Trying to squeeze a standalone cupboard in, but it comes over the doorframe and looks a bit off.
Not defeated yet though 😅.

Never give up - there's usually a way! Maybe you could share a drawing on here and ask for ideas?

I remember the ones we had growing up. A proper mini room, with shelves and lots of things, so much storage and jars and tins of goodies.

Amazing things, we used to hide in them too 😂.

I'm looking at my small kitchen and wondering how I can put one in.

I'm planning on having our kitchen done next year. I came across this company and they look amazing!

The White Kitchen Company - Bespoke Kitchens & Cabinetry

Edited

Just had half a dozen units delivered from them.
Build quality good but they sent the wrong handed corner unit. We had slack in system, but not enough to allow for getting a whole new unit from the factory in Lithuania.
Since then we've had a lot of excuses - staff on leave, staff going on holiday, the director is away, etc.
We made a huge effort to accept the delivery early - first by a month, then 24 hours and then it turned up a full 8 hours before notified.
And then we basically paid someone to take the £952 unit apart and rebuild. Obviously, it's now not as good as it should have been for that kind of money. We won't be using them for the next bit because we can't trust them to deliver in a normal way or work to solve problems.
I think the lack of communication is the worst bit. It's always someone who they will talk to who'll get back to but never does.
I know all companies have their problems but I thought we'd paid a premium to get over that.

The offending white company kitchen unit, will be better when the installation chaos has faded a bit.

Thanks, that's good to know. I will think twice!

My kitchen isn't "huge" by any means - approx. 15.5ft x 17ft.

It's still roughly twice the size of mine, 10.8ft x 6.9ft! 😂

PlantsHaveTakenOverMyHome · 30/09/2025 09:29

Here's my teeny kitchen! I only moved in 6 months ago so it was already here. I'm thinking of painting the units a sunny yellow 🌞

Open plan period house. This used to be a ‘gully’ kitchen which has been opened up. The kitchen’s from Ikea and about 20 years old. I have zero funds to do it up atm but will paint the cabinets a lovely pink colour at some point!

Love this room. Ooh yes, it'll look (even more) fab in a lovely shade of pink!

I’m going to be brave in the face of all these magazine worthy kitchens and post mine! It’s a 300 year old small rented cottage on a country estate. I absolutely adore my house, but it’s definitely different to all of these! Please excuse any mess.

Oh this is my kind of kitchen! I could really imagine living here. And same as everyone else I adore that little arched recess over the door!

PlantsHaveTakenOverMyHome · 30/09/2025 12:03

Some beautiful kitchens on this thread. @LibertyLily @bilbodog @toonananana @OrlandointheWilderness are my favourites! 😍
