Your favourite unreasonable AIBU?

There are so many wonderful examples of these, please share your favourites. Bonus points for links.

I remember one when OP was annoyed if the cost of children's birthday gifts weren't higher than the cost of hosting the party per child.

And the classic from a few weeks ago when OP thought it was ok to block the shared driveway and thought their neighbour who lived at the end was the unreasonable one.

I bet there are better ones out there though...

The recent one that has baffled me is the person who is asking AIBU for being jealous of her richer, older neighbours when they earn £140k a year…

Runssometimes · 30/07/2025 09:15

The one where she overtook a cyclist near a bend, car came round the bend on other side so she pulled in sharply in front of cyclist who (unsurprisingly) gesticulated wildly and swore. Her main concern was that she’d be reported and her mitigation was that he was wearing cycling clothes. She genuinely thought she’d been driving considerately. Terrifying that such people are in charge of tonnes of machinery on our roads.

I think if people are going to talk about funny sounding threads they need to link them too! 😜

Is this low income to you?

Sorry should have made this clearer - the woman who was jealous earned £140k a year with her partner, but was still jealous enough of her wealthy neighbours to start a thread on it. It’s more money than we could dream of earning!

latetothefisting · 30/07/2025 16:13

It's got to be the supersoaker one. Sorry can't find it right now but think it's in classics, will try and search later.

I also found one fuming about people who pressed the button on traffic lights, but then crossed when there was a gap in the cars so that by the time the lights changed to red cars had to stop at an empty crossing funny. Yes it might be mildly annoying but the OP couldn't explain how it actually affected them once the button had been pressed they were stopping either way, it wouldn't make any difference to them if someone was actually crossing in front of them or already half way up the road.

Those stuck in my mind because they're funny and because the OP was so clearly unreasonable 99% of people disagreed with them, the other ones I remember are the ones that blew my mind how many people think so differently to me (as in I read the heading thinking "what a silly question, of course it's going to be 100% YABU to then be completely gobsmacked at the responses) are boys over 8 using a female changing room and one years ago about if there was a fire would you save a child or your dog/cat.

Imnotsurewhattodobaby2 · 30/07/2025 16:15

I love when people ask in AIBU and then will argue with everyone who says yeah you are. Don’t post asking for opinions then?!

PixiePuffBall · 30/07/2025 16:17

The one who refused to say why her child would be sharing a room with their uncle in the holiday home... so that an empty room could be used if someone got ill. Or something

I was also going to say the supersoaker! Pages and pages of a woman absolutely determined that she wasn’t in the slightest bit unreasonable to let her DS take his supersoaker when he’d specifically been asked not to because she thought it would be “fun”, despite absolutely unanimous responses that she was totally unreasonable.

Hotflushesandchilblains · 30/07/2025 16:26

The Sistine Chapel screamer will always be the gold standard for me!

I’m really sorry op but I don’t know how to do the link thing - sorry and will willingly accept the points deductions

My most recent thread that made me howl with laughter and genuinely question how some people readily accept things as the gospel truth, was the one about getting everyone to help them ban dinosaurs in schools as they were ‘invented’ by bored Victorian’s.

Please if anyone can link for me I would be so grateful xxx

And another one-something to do with getting pizza delivered to the school for her daughter, school had refused but she insisted it was the right thing to do? I can't remember what it was called though, sorry!

The woman who keeps starting new threads because she is very obviously jealous of her DIL. And when things don’t go her way she goes and then reappears under a new username with a new complaint

RimTimTagiDim · 30/07/2025 16:37

I like the one who gatecrashed her brother's engagement party and couldn't understand why they were upset. I can't link as I don't remember any specific phrases to search for. I know there was something about drinking champagne...

The stepmom that thought it was fine that her kids get better Xmas pressies than her step kids. Who wouldn't share any of her VAST personal wealth with her husband or blended family.

Thispupsgottofly · 30/07/2025 16:39

There was one when someone was complaining about her husband and child having to share a room on holiday because her other family had decided to use more rooms but there were definitely enough rooms for her husband and child not to need to share.
I'm sorry this is so vague but it was mental. Anyone now what I mean. It was probably this year or late last year.

ThatLoudBear · 30/07/2025 16:39

Mine was the one that featured Voldemutt!

RoseaPlena · 30/07/2025 16:43

It's quite a few years ago now but I still remember the woman who was furious with the sharing arrangements devised by the Frank family in hiding- obviously Mrs Frank should have gone in with the girls and Fritz Pfeffer with Otto. Pure madness (or maybe conspiracy theorist).

SandyLanes · 30/07/2025 16:52

The one currently going on about till receipts. The OP is getting a bit het up!

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 30/07/2025 17:03

I haven't got time to find the link but the one where the woman was getting complaints that she was using her noisy hairdryer very early in the morning then told us why none of the mitigations posted were possible. Basically she was going to keep doing it do she was asked why she posted.
