There are so many wonderful examples of these, please share your favourites. Bonus points for links.

I remember one when OP was annoyed if the cost of children's birthday gifts weren't higher than the cost of hosting the party per child.

And the classic from a few weeks ago when OP thought it was ok to block the shared driveway and thought their neighbour who lived at the end was the unreasonable one.

I bet there are better ones out there though...

The stepmom that thought it was fine that her kids get better Xmas pressies than her step kids. Who wouldn't share any of her VAST personal wealth with her husband or blended family.

That was quite recent wasn’t it? She was horrible!

GoAwayNaughtyPigeon · 30/07/2025 21:46

The very recent threads from the poster who has 50/50 shared care with her exDH and was receiving CM out of exDH goodwill, and then tried to put in a claim for more CM has really kept me entertained lately 🤭 mostly because the OP cannot stop repeating that CMS deemed them "resident parent" (they are not) so they should deserve more CM etc etc, it's entertaining as the OP had a nice situation but then got greedy and wanted more, ignored ALL the advice from mnet and then predictably everything has backfired in her face. I would normally feel bad but it was all self inflicted, so...

I have a particular niche love for anything food related, not necessarily that the OP is unreasonable. But ranting threads about for eg, penis portions, or people regaling truly awful meals their parents/in laws/whatever served them. No idea why I find them so entertaining 😂 personal favourites are any threads where suddenly someone starts posting about any combination of "Fruit is child abuse because of the sugar" "If you give your kids cereal you might as well be giving them crack cocaine" "HUGE SALAD"

Thankyou for this thread I haven't belly laughed in a while . Love reading these

CatKings · 30/07/2025 21:55

Every time I look at a dinosaur now I will think about its lack of family values.

Sorry… penis portions??? I have definitely missed those threads! 🤣

Heck,😀 have just read OP's posts, fruit loop or what? But then again, everyone knows the world is flat and only 6000 years old and Dr Who is a real person who travels in time and space, then there's ...

Kibble19 · 30/07/2025 21:59

What was the one about the woman who’s neighbour (a child) had squirted her cat with water, so she went out and soaked the kid to teach him how it felt?

Loved her. 😂

There ought to be a sort of ‘hall of fame’ section where a post can get upvoted by users for its hilarity factor and these OPs can have official icon status. And these memorable threads safely filed for easy access when anyone needs a quick pick me up! 😅

Isn't that pretty much exactly what Mumsnet Classics is?!

Can't believe people are still engaging on the receipts thread, it's quite obviously someone on the wind up...started quite funny but now it's ridiculous

It turns up every now and again 😂 but the stereotypical format is:

  • OP (probably breastfeeding so ravenous) goes to IL with her DH and baby
  • IL serve dinner and dish up for everyone
  • IL gives OP tiny tiny portion size of meal, but gives DH a HUGE portion aka the "penis portion" because he is a MAN so needs more food
  • OP annoyed and hangry, posts on mumsnet with or without making a trip to McD on the way home from IL 😂
MooseLooseAboutTheHoose · 30/07/2025 22:12

Oh, this is a new thread… I’m definitely thinking of a more historical one because I’ve seen the receipts thing referenced numerous times down the years.

Ahhhhh… now I see, I didn’t realise we had a term for the male vs female portion sizes 😅

Everlore · 30/07/2025 17:12

The one where a mother of adult children, who no longer lived at home, had not invited her to a Halloween party they were holding for their friends. She was very upset not to be invited and was asking if it would be unreasonable for her to turn up anyway. Despite all of the posts urging her not to crash a party full of her kids similarly aged friends, who would probably find the presence of the host's mum acting as a chaperone quite weird, she was insistent that she couldn't see anything wrong with it. She was adamant that she would be a great help as she could bring some nice food and help her son's wife prepare food in the kitchen, which suggested a charming naivety about what twenty somethings often get up to at parties!

Just read OP posts, it's a wonder I've any teeth left I was grinding them with sheer frustration.😆

The woman who keeps starting new threads because she is very obviously jealous of her DIL. And when things don’t go her way she goes and then reappears under a new username with a new complaint

So my son just bought his first house and I'm beyond proud! He's worked hard for this and it's a huge achievement. I posted a congrats message on FB,...

Yup, serious issues that one

Createausernameplease · 30/07/2025 22:22

Yes! And then she got annoyed because the bride did a speech and thanked her mum and she felt left out even though the groom thanked her and recently she’s upset they don’t invite her round their house or come to hers at least twice a week for dinner. Turns out there’s like 4 other children but it’s just the youngest who the issue is with!

Panterusblackish · 30/07/2025 22:23

The rapist dolphins thread. It was unhinged.

That woman really hated dolphins .

And dont forget the one where she didn't want to buy DiL a souvenir from her holidays despite her buying her son something...I'll see if I can find it

And when she got upset that the DIL wouldn’t take her shopping for a dress for the wedding because she was busy, as she felt owed after she wasn’t invited to the wedding dress shopping.

The one who refused to say why her child would be sharing a room with their uncle in the holiday home... so that an empty room could be used if someone got ill. Or something

I remember that one! It seemed like everybody could think of a simple solution to the bedroom problem but she refused to see it.

RepoTheGeriatricOpera · 30/07/2025 20:08

God I remember that one. It was mental!
