There are so many wonderful examples of these, please share your favourites. Bonus points for links.

I remember one when OP was annoyed if the cost of children's birthday gifts weren't higher than the cost of hosting the party per child.

And the classic from a few weeks ago when OP thought it was ok to block the shared driveway and thought their neighbour who lived at the end was the unreasonable one.

I bet there are better ones out there though...

This thread has been the gift that keeps on giving!

The current one where OPs husband gives her £600 a month for fun stuff with a toddler and she’s complaining it’s not enough money and she needs more

I agree. I was going to reply that I spend less than that on food & drink for 2 adults, but rude words kept appearing on my screen so I didn't.

Today we have a new candidate for the crazy.

There was one a couple of years ago but I can’t find it. All but a few posters were saying how they hated the word ‘meal’, like it was a very repulsive word. The other odd posters were completely bemused, as I was. Honestly, it felt like it was a deliberate joke and a lot of posters were in on it. Weird.

I don't know how to do a link but I found the thread To feel sick (literally) when I hear the phrase 'meal deal'?

Quite a few posters didnt like the word meal.

Strange.

I remember this! I thought everyone had gone mad!

It isn’t even as if “meal” is a nickname for or shortening or something else, or an alternative to a more common word (like saying “vacation” instead of “holiday”). A meal is just a meal! How else would you say it?

I’m glad someone else witnessed the madness! It felt like gaslighting on a big scale, so strange. Yes, because meal is a word that’s always been used; people go out for a meal, buy food to make a meal.

I’ve tried to find the thread but haven’t managed it. I will try again though.

Thanks smurfnoffice!

I found that thread but it wasn’t that one, the other went on a few pages. Maybe it was a precursor, I don’t know!

It's got to be the supersoaker one. Sorry can't find it right now but think it's in classics, will try and search later.

I also found one fuming about people who pressed the button on traffic lights, but then crossed when there was a gap in the cars so that by the time the lights changed to red cars had to stop at an empty crossing funny. Yes it might be mildly annoying but the OP couldn't explain how it actually affected them once the button had been pressed they were stopping either way, it wouldn't make any difference to them if someone was actually crossing in front of them or already half way up the road.

Those stuck in my mind because they're funny and because the OP was so clearly unreasonable 99% of people disagreed with them, the other ones I remember are the ones that blew my mind how many people think so differently to me (as in I read the heading thinking "what a silly question, of course it's going to be 100% YABU to then be completely gobsmacked at the responses) are boys over 8 using a female changing room and one years ago about if there was a fire would you save a child or your dog/cat.

Edited

Oh I remember that one! Really really angry ranting at me and others blithely ruining the environment and causing havoc in the streets yet being (and I quote from etched-in memory) "oblivious to what you have done".

MuckFusk · 06/08/2025 20:36

"What flavour Pringles? This is important." 😄

Can’t remember if it was aibu or not, but who remembers the crazy entitled lady who was breaking into a local park to walk her dangerous dog in the very early morning, and wanted to call the police on some guys sitting on a bench because she decided they were planning on stealing the ducks!!!!

Oh my gosh I forgot about that!

SteakBakesAndHotTakes · 07/08/2025 08:08

Can't find it, but OP was really offended that DD's friend had gifted her a collector's edition of a French fairytale for her birthday. IIRC DD was kicking off and OP was annoyed at friend for not appreciating how advanced and beyond this book DD was

Ginnygi · 07/08/2025 08:31

Oh, I remember the most batshit one!

The OP wanted to change the school system so that school your kids go to would not be assigned based on the catchment (so essentially where you live) but it should be randomly assigned and can be any school within 2.5-3 hrs drive.
People were saying how all this driving would be bad for the planet and how hard it would be for working parents. But also how hard for kids to have such long commutes, the OP said it would prepare the kids for the adult life.
Everyone was telling her what an insane idea it was but she wouldn't double down.

Her reason for this idea: school in her catchment didn't have a good reputation and she didn't want to send her kids there.

She thought they were stealing the ducks to sell because there was dubious meat around wasn't it?

The OP who posted 3 different threads - including the multi thread "my kids ex teacher made a comment in a club towards me and I want to report him", thread 2 he became a rapist and a peado at one point...
Then she posted one about Loose Men being inappropriate to show men what a prostate exam is
And there was a 3rd about her neighbour's wife going out sometimes with a man where the husband might then have found out and killed her ?

All of them went the same: OP posted, insisted they were right, engaged her husband to write a complaint, gloated because "some how" someone justified her as being right supposedly, she had sex with her husband

What on earth would she have made of the episode this week about how to check your vulva? Best case scenario, she'd ignore it as she doesn't drive one.....!
