To have reported this builder to his company?

We were walking past a building site earlier and this bloke who was on the scafolding shouted something down to his mate and did this irritating hand action thing. I put my shopping down and shouted back up "willy, willy, willy!" and copied the hand action. The bloke then shouted down to DH that he should keep his dog on a tighter leash (meaning me) so DH shouted back "get lost" so another builder told us to fuck off before DH ended up getting filled in. When we got home I told DH I was reporting the blokes to their company and he said not to as they could end up getting fired and it was all my fault anyway Sad I did however report them for threatning DH. Did I do the wrong thing? I know in this current climate losing your job is a terrible thing to happen but they shouldn't have threatened DH. I am feeling a bit guilty though at what might happen, especially if they have families etc

Have you been out in the sun without a hat?

boxoftricks · 31/07/2011 22:21

why on earth would you stop. put your shopping down. and shout willy willy willy. are you 4 years old?

A1980 · 31/07/2011 22:22

I put my shopping down and shouted back up "willy, willy, willy!" and copied the hand action.

Did I miss something? You actually put your shopping down to engage them in conversation and act as childishly as they did and you think they deserved reporting?! Confused IMO you started it when all you had to do was keep walking.

Don't give yourself too much credit, it's unlikely they'll lose their jobs for you and your DH. Are you the King and Queen? It's heresay and as I said you seem to have started it.

You stopped and got into a conversation with some builders who were already being a bit rude?

Confused
redglow · 31/07/2011 22:25

Is this a windup. Do not worry they will not lose their job you are lucky they did not do or say more.

FabbyChic · 31/07/2011 22:25

Seriously you started it and should have kept your thoughts to yourself, they werent talking to you or about you were they?

You sound like a fishwife.

Splattered · 31/07/2011 22:26

I think he was shouting something about me though because the other builder looked at me and laughed when he did it. That's why I did the willy thing.

MorelliOrRanger · 31/07/2011 22:28

But that's just stupid, always ignore, and most certainly don't stop if you think they were being that way.

caffevalium · 31/07/2011 22:29

Sorry, I really don't understand the 'willy thing'. What were you hoping to achieve?

Unlurked · 31/07/2011 22:30

Thats possibly the funniest op I've ever read!

But I think you should put the whole incident behind you and do your best not to shout 'willy willy willy' in the street again.

Hth

Yes, but you say you "think" so you aren't sure. Do you honestly give a shit even if they were saying something about you? I won't give people like that the effort of a response and I ignore them completely. You should have kept walking.

Parents usually tell children to ignore that sort of behaviour.......

CarnivalBizarre · 31/07/2011 22:32

You would have been far more classy to have just walked past with your head held high and pretended not to have heard a thing rather than resort to peurile the behaviour shouting of Willy and copying his hand action - that brought you right down to his level and in that case no better than the instigator imo - sorry Smile

PeopleCallMeTricky · 31/07/2011 22:33

willy, willy, willy!
I'll have to remember that one.
Do you normally do things like that?

FreudianSlipper · 31/07/2011 22:33

i thought filled in meant getting a beating, then he was only threatened, maybe not

the willy willy willy made me giggle

caffevalium · 31/07/2011 22:33

I'd like to think that in my years I've come across most kinds of rude/childish/provocative behaviour. I've worked in all kinds of sectors. But I have never ever come across anyone shouting 'willy willy willy' at anyone and I'm wondering if I can honestly say my life is complete? I think perhaps not.

NevermindtheNargles · 31/07/2011 22:33

'Willy willy willy' made tea come out of my nose. I am going to do this to a random stranger tomorrow and see what happens. What was the hand action?

MrsCampbellBlack · 31/07/2011 22:34

Some building companies have a number up for you to call if their employees shout obscenities.

But am not sure that these ones did until you shouted 'willy'.

All a bit odd really.

CarnivalBizarre · 31/07/2011 22:35

Just re - read my last post, sorry if it didn't make sense Grin

past caring

A1980 · 31/07/2011 22:35

What was the hand action?

Must have been a wank action. Given the willy willy willy from the OP

Splattered · 31/07/2011 22:36

I was just trying to make him realise how stupid he looked. The hand action is kind of hard to describe. It was kind of legs bent, hand into a fist and then a thrusting motion with his arm.

It wasn't a wanking motion.
