Hate my new tattoo

OutbackQueen · 27/06/2025 10:12

What I asked for. What I got. It’s on the inside of my wrist. I went to my usual place and had it done by the owner - the guy who did my previous delicate and artistic tats has left 🙁
I hate it, it’s so clumsy and even the shape is wrong.
AIBU to dislike it so much? What would you do?

Ooft that’s pretty bad, sorry.

you have two options, get it covered up, or lasered off.

but definitely do back and complain.

lilyboleyn · 27/06/2025 10:15

I can see why you’re upset. When it’s healed you’ll be able to get it touched up / done over by another artist. I had one done by someone who really bodged it (similar watercolour ideas). I went back to a different artist and she made it so much better. I still don’t love it 100% but it’s so much better.

Changingletters · 27/06/2025 10:18

It looks as though you have a nasty burn on your wrist OP.

givemushypeasachance · 27/06/2025 10:18

How new is it, will it calm down yet?

Everyone is entitled to like what they like but I must say the general shape is always going to risk looking a bit like an angry bitemark. The inspo picture looks like it could be a really bad bloody bruised bite!

BeachPossum · 27/06/2025 10:21

Sorry OP, I can see why you're upset, it's nothing like the guide picture. I would wait for it to heal and then get another artist to fix it, but I'd also ask for your money back for this one.

TheNewVillageIdiot · 27/06/2025 10:25

Gosh, that's not good at all. But it looks like it would take a very skilled artist to recreate the first picture.
Wait till it's healed and see what you can do to improve it.

Iamtarticus · 27/06/2025 10:26

You need to complain, it looks like a caterpillar 🐛

Bringinguptherear · 27/06/2025 10:28

This is why I would never get a tattoo, the idea of trusting someone to permanently mark my skin brings me out in a cold sweat.

sorry that not helpful!

Afraid it’s not great and not really a crescent moon shape, more of a croissant.

Bigfatsunandclouds · 27/06/2025 10:28

Let it heal and see how you feel! It's not awful and I quite like it, but it looks scabby at the moment so this may be impacting how you feel about it.

Once healed if you still hate it, search for a fine line tattooist and see what they can do for you!

OutbackQueen · 27/06/2025 10:31

The burns are actually bruises from being pulled over by my friend’s dog! I would have expected him to say he couldn’t replicate the original tat but he said “no problem!”
The previous guy was just so skilled and I thought with it being the owner, I’d be safe.
I wouldn’t trust him to make it look better (it’ll probably look worse) so will ask for a refund.

Definitely go back and complain. That's not good. Sorry OP, you must be bummed :-(

OutbackQueen · 27/06/2025 10:38

These are the ones the previous guy did. I love them.

Sorry here

To be honest, if you hadn't posted a picture of what you expected the tattoo to look like, I wouldn't have known what the tattoo was supposed to be! It just looks like a random odd mark on your skin. I think you'll need to wait until it's healed properly to see it clearly. You either then need to have it touched up by someone else or Lasered off completely. This is the exact reason why I wouldn't have a tattoo. There's tattoo artists and there's amazing tattoo artists, with lots of variations in between. It's the same as any profession, there's good and bad. You know with a dodgy haircut, it will grow out, but a tattoo is different, it's permanent.

OutbackQueen · 27/06/2025 10:42

Another go at my previous tats.

Sorry OP i get why your upset, it's not great. Being dark hopefully if you went with laser it would remove well, i've had a lot of black and grey removed, they were gone after i think 3 or 4 sessions. The red's and greens on the other hand! still hanging around.

hattie43 · 27/06/2025 10:45

I think what you asked for is beautiful but what you got is the letter C , a different colour aswell . I think I’d find a really good artist and get some cover up , maybe fine line flowers weaving around it or something .

OutbackQueen · 27/06/2025 10:48

I did ask for a different colour. Maybe a fine line artist then or laser removal. I’ve messaged him asking for a refund but am prepared to go round and create merry hell if he’s not accommodating.

IleftmybaginNewportPagnell · 27/06/2025 10:48

Sorry to add, but the angle’s wrong for a crescent moon. It would look more elegant at the angle of the one you love, and how you’d picture a crescent moon.

OutbackQueen · 27/06/2025 10:48

Yes, agree @IleftmybaginNewportPagnell

OP posts:
CraftyNavySeal · 27/06/2025 10:48

When did you get it?

To be fair it does look like there’s quite a lot of detail there but it’s still scabby, maybe it will look better once fully healed.

OutbackQueen · 27/06/2025 10:52

I’ve had an answer - he understands and will refund.

You asked for a different colour? What happened that was the time to leave if he wasn't going to give you what you asked for

BusySquid · 27/06/2025 10:56

Don't stress op. Wait until it goes down, find a new tattoo artist and either get it fixed to how you want it or find a new design to cover it. Colour tats on the wrist fade quite quick. It doesn't look terrible.

That’s what I thought about the first picture.
