Sunnyday321 · 02/06/2025 07:00

Tell me my dh is being unreasonable ?
We have a noisy petrol mower at he is outside mowing the lawn !
I've been out ( in my nightie ! ) and told him it's too early , and he has told me it's not .
Surely it's way too early ?

I believe you can make noise between 7am and 11pm.

2025ishere · 02/06/2025 07:03

Yes it’s too early unless you live on your own island or you neighbours all have toddlers and will have been up since 5 anyway.

daffodilandtulip · 02/06/2025 07:03

It's not illegal but I would want to kill him

user1476613140 · 02/06/2025 07:04

Nothing wrong with 7am cutting grass.

MoominUnderWater · 02/06/2025 07:04

He’s being very inconsiderate of any neighbours presuming you have some. Why can’t he do it in the evening?

user1476613140 · 02/06/2025 07:04

We are up every day 6am. 7am isn't a big deal.

XiCi · 02/06/2025 07:04

Of course it's too early, just really inconsiderate.

K0OLA1D · 02/06/2025 07:05

Bit earlier, but it would be worse at 7am on a weekend or bank holiday. The bin men woke the world up at 5.45 this morning

BMW6 · 02/06/2025 07:05

If I was your neighbour I'd be watering my garden and accidentally your DH and the effing mower!

sorrynotathome · 02/06/2025 07:05

It would only be too early on a Sunday, IMO.

rubyslippers · 02/06/2025 07:05

Pretty sure that 8 am is where noisy works can start
but also if the grass has dew / wet then it can clog the mower
Think 7 am is too early - it’s not a nice noise and am sure your neighbours aren’t thrilled

It's a big deal to people not up at 6 trying to sleep obviously 🙄

Kevinisnotacatname · 02/06/2025 07:06

It's very inconsiderate. I wouldn't do it till 9 myself although I think 8 is ok I'd personally rather do it later

WaltzingWaters · 02/06/2025 07:06

Legally it’s okay but morally it’s crap (unless you have no neighbours nearby). Isn’t the grass too wet at this time of the morning too?

Blondebrownorred · 02/06/2025 07:06

It wouldn't bother us. We're all up for school and work before 6am.

Bin lorries are around emptying bins on weekdays from 6.30am! They are incredibly noisy!

myplace · 02/06/2025 07:07

How can people be asleep at 7am on a weekday? Surely most people have work or school?

You Can’t really work around shifts as they are so variable.

WhereHasMyPlanetGone · 02/06/2025 07:08

Isn’t the grass still damp/dewy?

Bananafofana · 02/06/2025 07:08

I’m awake every day at 6am but that’s irrelevant. Our local London council prohibits noise from machinery (eg lawnmowers) before 8am. There are laws about this and your DH can expect a letter from the council if a neighbour complains.

I’d be absolutely raging tbh. What a selfish arse.

SaintNoMountainHighEnough · 02/06/2025 07:09

Far too early. I always use 9-5 as my judgement of whether it's sensible to do noisy/potentially antisocial tasks.

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should

randoname · 02/06/2025 07:10

Idiot. The grass is too wet too.

SendBooksAndTea · 02/06/2025 07:12

7am really isn't that early, it wouldn't bother me. I'd expect most of the neighbours where I am to be awake already as they mostly go to work/do the school run. You'll always disturb someone, as long as it isn't 5am or 11pm I think it's probably just about okay.
