Tell me my dh is being unreasonable ?
We have a noisy petrol mower at he is outside mowing the lawn !
I've been out ( in my nightie ! ) and told him it's too early , and he has told me it's not .
Surely it's way too early ?

If my neighbour would start mowing the lawn at 7am, it would be quite freeing. I would not have to worry about any noise I make around the house/outside around midnight.

How can people be asleep at 7am on a weekday? Surely most people have work or school?

You Can’t really work around shifts as they are so variable.

Well, I was on annual leave today so happily asleep. But normal work day I wake up at 8.45 to make it to my desk at 9. Last time I had to wake up before 8am was last year to make it to airport.

i know morning people are better humans. But some of this wonderment how it is humanly possible to be asleep at 7 is just ridiculous.

You can’t think of any reason why someone might be asleep at 7am ???

One thing MN has taught me over the years is that a lot of people have not a lot of imagination. Although it must be nice for them to live their lives in such awe and wonder at such mundane things like people still being asleep at 7am!

Good for you and your husband. The birds in my garden are most active for feeding purposes in the morning and early evening.

Not sure if you're being rude there.

Of course it's not too early - what time do you people get up???

Myself and DH at home. Our alarm goes off at 9, we have 30 mins breakfast in bed, he gets up and showered first, then goes of to work fit 10. He works 10 until 6.
I work a 48 hour shift once a week.
We go to bed around 1 ish.
If neighbours were making that kind of noise at 7, I'd be happy to return the favour at 11 pm.
( as a funny side note, we have a nursery next door and the back garden play area for 2/3 year old is right by our bedroom window, and in Spring they got a new pan lid banging type game. So far it hasn't been played very early...)

If he wants to unite the neighbours in thinking he is a selfish arsehole, that's the way to go about it.

Spectacularly selfish.

7 on a weekday is ok for me as we would normally be up. Really whenever you do it, you could be disturbing someone. After 9 people could be working from home and be in online meetings, shift workers or sick people could be asleep anytime, In the evenings babies and young children may be sleeping.

Allsorted1 · 03/06/2025 09:18

Legally, 7am is ok but he needs to get a life. That would be so annoying.

Omg I would hate your hubby no offence lol!!
