Tell me my dh is being unreasonable ?
We have a noisy petrol mower at he is outside mowing the lawn !
I've been out ( in my nightie ! ) and told him it's too early , and he has told me it's not .
Surely it's way too early ?

This is my OH, she was out in the garden banging nails at 7am the other day. I was furious, so inconsiderate.

I believe you can make noise between 7am and 11pm.

There's a difference between what you can do and what you should do

Doggymummar · 02/06/2025 08:23

Our council website says after 8am, let that be your guide

Done41 · 02/06/2025 08:23

On a weekday, not too bad. All my neighbours would be up or out already anyway. be pissed off of someone did it at the weekend before about 9/10am

purpleygrey · 02/06/2025 08:24

Wouldn’t bother me if I was your neighbour.

dandeliondandy · 02/06/2025 08:25

It is very inconsiderate and nothing that can't wait for an hour unless you don't have neighbours close by? Why not do a few other gardening jobs like weeding first then mow a little later? Also there is still usually dew on the grass at that time as the sun isn't warm enough to cause it to evaporate so it isn't good for mower blades. It is also peak feeding time for the birds so the noise would scare them off.

WhereHasMyPlanetGone · 02/06/2025 07:08

Isn’t the grass still damp/dewy?

This!! He’ll break the lawnmower if he carries on like that!

Would I be right in thinking that you’re generally not very happy with DH and the marriage is a bit shite?

Lol . No , I just thought it was too early.

Thanks for commenting my marriage situation though.

I didn't realise lawn mowing has anything to do with if your marriage is ' shite ' or not . I've been with my dh 27 years . How about you ?

Yeah, there’s issues! Just as I thought

gingercat02 · 02/06/2025 08:28

Way too early even on a weekday! I don't get up until.7:30 to go to work, if I was on a day off or had a sleeping child I would be raging

Depte · 02/06/2025 08:30

Because this thread is about lawn mowing hmmmi

rather than

a) and inconsiderate retiree who could
mow at any time
b) a marriage where one party asks very reasonably to hold off for a bit and the other basically tells her to shove it, and carries on anyway

Bliss

I adore my husband and we’re very happily married but I’d tell him he was being unreasonable if he tried to mow the lawn at 7am.

What do posters like you gain by silly posts like this?! You are writing nonsense.

Yes! And would he ignore you and plough on anyway?

We are up every day 6am. 7am isn't a big deal.

Well I'm usually up until 1am. So by that logic midnight wouldn't be a big deal. And as it's not a big deal to me my neighbours should be fine with me being noisy then?

He’s inconsiderate as is retire so could mow anytime

his wife asks him very reasonably to hold off and he basically tells her to shove it but carrying on anyway

MuffinsAreJustCakesAtBreakfast · 02/06/2025 08:32

Going against the grain here but I go with the planet's seasonal rhythms.

if the sun's up you're free to make noise until it goes down 🤷🏼‍♀️

The birds wake me up long before any human does anyway

Loubelou71 · 02/06/2025 08:32

Isn't the grass still dewy,....too early for that reason for me.

Letmecallyouback · 02/06/2025 08:33

Doesn't seem to have occurred to anyone what people who run gardening businesses are doing at 7am. I can assure you it's not paperwork.

Even in healthy relationships, couples don’t agree on absolutely everything. And that’s ok.

PuppyMonkey · 02/06/2025 08:36

I mean if it were literally the only time he could find in the day to do it, that’s okay on a school day I think.

UnderratedCabbage · 02/06/2025 08:37

I would be raging. I wake up 7:45 so 45 min is not much difference, but who the fuck wants to listen to lanwmover that early in a morning anyway. And yes the grass ought to be still wet.

Screamingabdabz · 02/06/2025 08:38

If I was your neighbour I’d feel murderous at anyone making that sort of noise at 7am. It’s one thing people being ‘up’ but there is a special kind of torture when people are making a racket first thing in the morning like they don’t give a shit about anyone else. It’s so bloody inconsiderate.

icelolly12 · 02/06/2025 08:39

Definitely irritating. I'm awake early but want to hear bird song or silence first thing not a noisy mower.

UnderratedCabbage · 02/06/2025 08:40

Sun rises at 4:50 approx now. So by that logic, everyone can mow at 5AM.
