Sunnyday321 · 02/06/2025 07:00

Tell me my dh is being unreasonable ?
We have a noisy petrol mower at he is outside mowing the lawn !
I've been out ( in my nightie ! ) and told him it's too early , and he has told me it's not .
Surely it's way too early ?

Some little ones like to sleep in!

...and some people's lives don't revolve around other people's 'little ones'.

I was already awake. I was just saying they woke everyone up before 6am.

Wouldn't give a shite if my neighbour mowed his grass at 7am on a work day. Wouldn't do it myself.

Not sure I understand the relevance of your comment.

madamegazelle1 · 02/06/2025 07:47

Inconsiderate! I think after 8 is acceptable. Would he be happy if next doors kids were bouncing and shrieking on the trampoline at 7am?

Bin lorries are around emptying bins on weekdays from 6.30am! They are incredibly noisy!

6am here.

It's too early for the grass but 7am is when people with cars start them up (often noisily) for work, buses are running, kids are up getting ready for school runs etc so noise wise, as long as it's not extreme it's fine.

How can people be asleep at 7am on a weekday? Surely most people have work or school?

You Can’t really work around shifts as they are so variable.

Lots of people are still in bed at 7am!

7:30 wake up and get ready / get kids ready
8:15 depart for school
8:30 school drop off
9am I start work

I didn't really understand yours tbh. I have no beef with the bin men. I was just stating they woke people up

It was clear you were being factual rather than critical. The response you got was v childish!

Idiot. The grass is too wet too.

How could you possibly know that? my grass is bone dry 🤔

Morning dew. The ground may be bone dry but there is moisture on the blades from the dew and they clog the mower when damp.

Mingenious · 02/06/2025 07:55

Absolutely fine on a week day.

MalcolmMoo · 02/06/2025 07:56

Not a time I would choose! But at least it’s a week day and people are likely up getting ready for work.

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 02/06/2025 07:58

@Sunnyday321 my old neighbour used to do that too!! he was always running late and it was always on a friday. Had an ex neighbour who used to cut his grass wearing a three piece suit!!!!!

Chocolateorange22 · 02/06/2025 07:59

We have several inconsiderate villagers who like to walk their incredibly yappy dogs (I don't know how they breathe none of them shut up) at 5am so 7am would be an absolute lie in for us.

BluebellCrocus · 02/06/2025 08:01

I would never do it as it's not up to me to dictate when everyone wakes up. Not everyone works Monday to Friday. Some people work Saturday and have Monday off.

Depte · 02/06/2025 08:03

Would I be right in thinking that you’re generally not very happy with DH and the marriage is a bit shite?

IwasDueANameChange · 02/06/2025 08:03

Would have been better waiting til 8am but tbh its a monday morning, aren't most people up for work/school?

Of course there'll be the odd shift worker but they could be asleep at 11am, there's no planning round it.

My grass is bone dry. How do you know if OPs grass is wet or not

My daughter has long standing roadworks going on outside her house. They start making racket ever morning so lawn being mowed is no big deal

Does the DH have to go to work ?

StMarie4me · 02/06/2025 08:07

SaintNoMountainHighEnough · 02/06/2025 07:09

Far too early. I always use 9-5 as my judgement of whether it's sensible to do noisy/potentially antisocial tasks.

How does that work if your commute and working day is 8-6? Am I only supposed to do anything at the weekend?

NattyTurtle59 · 02/06/2025 08:09

Of course it's not too early - what time do you people get up???

LakieLady · 02/06/2025 08:11

Too early imo, despite being a lark who's been awake since 5.30 and up since 6.30.

I think 8 is reasonable on a weekday, same as for building works.

user2848502016 · 02/06/2025 08:12

On a weekday it’s not the worst thing, but 8am feels more acceptable to me , we are up around 7am but would rather not be woken up by a lawnmower. 7am is better than 9pm though

WhereHasMyPlanetGone · 02/06/2025 08:13

NattyTurtle59 · 02/06/2025 08:09

6.30am usually. But not everyone does. So I think it’s too early to mow the lawn.
OP is there any reason he had to do it at that time? Is it his only window of opportunity today? I’m

OMGitsnotgood · 02/06/2025 08:13

Schools are still off here, which means many parents are taking holidy, so being disturbed at 7am really wouldn’t go down too well here .
Even in term time, not everyone is up at 7am, it was usually a 7:30 alarm for us, and that extra 30 mins was precious. Definitely inconsiderate

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 02/06/2025 08:16

It might be legal from 7am but I think anyone mowing before 8am is a bit rude.

Guavafish1 · 02/06/2025 08:20

We live need the airport… ✈️ start at 4.30am
