To think it’s wrong to go on holiday without DC

I keep seeing on Facebook women going on holiday multiple times a year, leaving their young DC at home, this isn’t just one person it’s multiple, as a mother I couldn’t stand the thought of being in a different country to my child, what if something happened? Is it just me? Is this the norm?

Who knew. People are different.

ClassicStripe · 22/03/2025 15:37

I’ve been away on city breaks but personally couldn’t go on a sunshine holiday without them. I would be thinking of them the whole time especially if it was some where which had kids (which it would as we wouldn’t be able to afford adults only)

Iknowaboutpopular · 22/03/2025 15:37

This is ridiculously goady.

How dare women leave their children 🙄

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 22/03/2025 15:37

You do you and let others do them.

Mind your buisness!

Radish81 · 22/03/2025 15:37

Bored Op? No plans this weekend?

Chocolateismylovelife · 22/03/2025 15:38

I don’t think it’s ‘wrong’, but I haven’t managed to do it myself .

tweddler · 22/03/2025 15:38

Of course it's absolutely fine.

Lanzarotelady · 22/03/2025 15:38

Well you sit there op polishing your halo and clutching your pears! You do realise they cut the umbilical cord don't you?
Talk about judgy!

Radish81 · 22/03/2025 15:39

Imagine @Pinkdreams being your mother, and when you have a child you decide to go a road for a weekend with friends or your partner

The cats bum expression from this Op!

Although I suspect any child would have gone NC by then anyway

Lanzarotelady · 22/03/2025 15:39

I am sick of seeing posts on FB about women being pious and sitting at home, with their children give me sun and sangria!

wendywoopywoo222 · 22/03/2025 15:39

Of course it’s not wrong. How silly. Good for kids to have time with others.

supersonicginandtonic · 22/03/2025 15:40

I do it, I love it. Does wonders for my relationship.
We also take the kids on holidays too.

ShanghaiDiva · 22/03/2025 15:40

What about dads? Is it okay for them to go away?

If you go away in term time you're likely to dodge most kids without having to go explicitly "adults only". Loads cheaper too, it's great.

Just picked up husband from the airport after he had a week in Spain.

I’ll have a week somewhere by myself later in the year. I need a week where nobody needs anything from me to maintain my sanity.

DD went abroad in February with her cadet unit (without us), I’ll be taking her long haul for her birthday and planning a family trip as well. She doesn’t do too badly.

Radiatorvalves · 22/03/2025 15:40

I’ve been away for work and I’ve been away for long weekends with girlfriends and usually one weekend with DH a year. My kids are 18&20 and haven’t suffered because of my decisions. YABVVU

TomatoSandwiches · 22/03/2025 15:40

Not mothers leaving their children.... all alone whilst they sod off on holibobs?! How neglectful and, and, unmotherly!
Send them all to the stocks immediately.

Radish81 · 22/03/2025 15:41

Ooooh interesting

To think it’s wrong to go on holiday without DC
AntiHop · 22/03/2025 15:41

I'm the same as you op. I'd miss my kids so much. But I work full time so my time with you is limited.

Totally normal, nothing wrong with it. What a weird post

As a mother, I can't stand it when people preach on what others do. How about you do you, and not be so judgemental. From one mother to another😊

Radish81 · 22/03/2025 15:42

Op you have step children

do they join you on every holiday?

ForZanyAquaViewer · 22/03/2025 15:42

Do these children not have fathers? Children being at home with a parent…the horror!

Hollowvoice · 22/03/2025 15:43

Ikr?
How dare women not be consumed by motherhood 24/7/365. Who do they think they are doing things for themselves?! It's like they think they are actual people or something!
