To think it’s wrong to go on holiday without DC

I keep seeing on Facebook women going on holiday multiple times a year, leaving their young DC at home, this isn’t just one person it’s multiple, as a mother I couldn’t stand the thought of being in a different country to my child, what if something happened? Is it just me? Is this the norm?

Agree with OP. Other half does too. We did our travelling before having kids and wouldn’t want to spend money or use leave not to be with kids and show them the world. They’ll be gone soon enough and we can do stuff then. Some people I know go abroad without DCs and don’t take their children abroad…

@TooManyFools

actually they may not be gone soon…these days kids can end staying with their parents til they are thirty something. Are you gonna see going on holiday without them as a waste of time and leave too?
you matter too! Life is short, take time to enjoy yourself!

This site really gets on my nerves! Going through my previous posts have nothing to do with this thread. I hate people sometimes

I am all for society having a social conscience and I don't think there is anything wrong with judging others when they step outside of social norms in a way that is detrimental to others. E.g. playing loud music on public transport.

However you judge women for having the temerity to want to retain some level of individualism after childbirth, but make no mention of men doing the same. What about if women dare to go away for work? Are they also dreadful?

Perhaps you can't bear to leave your children to go abroad, but it certainly doesn't make you a better mother. A well rested happy mother does the best for her kids. Whereas you seem to just enjoy reinforcing patriarchal expectations of women.

Heres a tip, if you put up a goady thread slagging off women doing their best, people will search your history. Naturally so.
