Brand new DMs not selling on Vinted

I put my brand new Doc Martens (pink desert boots) - never been worn, still in the box on vinted and fb marketplace and they’re not selling. They are the wrong size for me and too late to return.
Where else could I try listing them?
I’ve put them on for £85. They are currently sold out on the DM site.

Maybe eBay? Or local Facebook marketplace groups. People expect absolute bargains on vinted - I had a brand new Zara dress and put it at £15 (was £50) and someone offered me £3!

Hercisback1 · 26/02/2025 18:06

No one will pay that much on vinted sorry.

Ebay?

rainache · 26/02/2025 18:08

Wrong time of year for selling DMs, people will be shopping for spring / summer bits now!

Kangarude · 26/02/2025 18:08

DM’s are well know as scammed items on Vinted. I think people avoid them and £85 is a lot of money

Newmeagain · 26/02/2025 18:13

How much were they?

Nopenott0day · 26/02/2025 18:14

Depop

They appear to be £84 on the doc marten’s website.
Why would anyone take a chance on yours at full price??

KhakiShaker · 26/02/2025 18:16

I wouldn’t pay £85 on vinted. Buyer protection is rubbish, I would only buy something for a small amount I was prepared to take a gamble on. EBay? Or even fb marketplace

LittleRedRidingHoody · 26/02/2025 18:16

That price seems super high. I bought new with tags DMs last year for £45, which was a bargain on there but I think others were priced around £55-60.

UndermyShoeJoe · 26/02/2025 18:17

Most I’ve ever spent in one transaction on vinted was £55 and that was the only bad transaction I’ve had too. Would never spend over £20 on there now.

Gingerbreadcottage · 26/02/2025 18:25

They were brand new and bought for £90.

How much should I list them for?
I’ve added a photo of them.

£45 max. Even then you may struggle. Not worth the faff I'm afraid

Plump82 · 26/02/2025 18:28

Yep, Depop. But you'll pay a whack in sellers fees. No chance would I spend £85 on something from Vinted.

100percenthagitude · 26/02/2025 18:29

Given the buyers protection premium and postage, you are selling for more than they are new?

If you're new to vinted then that may be an issue - there's no history built up. No one trusts you to pay a high price and if you pitch them too low, people will think you're a scam

Have you a local clothes agency you can try them at?

Gingerbreadcottage · 26/02/2025 18:31

I don’t understand why the laughing emoji on the photo - that’s what I’ve posted on vinted.

OP posts:
Newmeagain · 26/02/2025 18:31

@Gingerbreadcottage people will not pay the same amount as from a retailer because they will not be able to return. It has to be a bargain.

I would try £50 maximum and be prepared to drop as this style is not going to be as popular as the classic DMs.

Gingerbreadcottage · 26/02/2025 18:32

I’ve never even worn them , so frustrating

DeathNote11 · 26/02/2025 18:32

Too expensive. I just bought rare 1B60s for £60 off Vinted, I always keep an eye out Feb to May as they're in least demand & at their cheapest. Take your chance on an eBay auction or wait until Autumn when people are shopping for boots.

Quitelikeit · 26/02/2025 18:32

FB marketplace might work better doubt you’ll get £85 tho

FiatMultiplaWhopper · 26/02/2025 18:33

£85 plus fees and postage is over what you paid for them, try £55 you might get some interest

In which case the £80 is way too high as the person buying second hand has no consumer rights.

You'd be lucky to get £50.

WeeklyNameChangeTime · 26/02/2025 18:35

Relist them every night if you have to! And keep the price but then send offers for 30ish% off

TumbledTussocks · 26/02/2025 18:36

So I could buy these for £90 new from the shop, try them on, return them if needed without any issue.

Avoiding paying buyer protection, p&p and wondering if they're either knock offs or just uncomfortable.

Sorry but there's just no way I'd pay this. I'm on Vinted for bargains so if they're rubbish I'll donate to a charity shop and suck up the loss.

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/02/2025 18:36

Had the same issue with brand new Docs. I think vinted is the wrong place for them, people want everything for nothing on there.

Have sold some others on ebay and they did go although lower than I would have liked. FB market place might be worth a try.

SamwiseTheBodyguard · 26/02/2025 18:37

At £85 when you factor in the buyer protection and delivery costs you would end up paying more than £90. Unless they were a really rare, hard to find pair that went viral and people were desperate to get their hands on them you won't be able to sell them for more than you bought them new.
