To think the most tedious everyday 'chore' is...

Brushing teeth. I've always hated doing it and found it a tedious job to do twice a day. I don't mind other hygiene 'chores' so much but this is just the worst.

I brush my Whippet's teeth - That's not too bad.
Get into a routine, left side first, then the ''grinners'' at the front, then the right hand side.

She knows and 'smiles' for the toothbrush.

Too adorable 😍

Ironing and a close second changing the bottom fitted sheet on a double mattress, which has to be lifted over the frame to get it out. The darn thing is so heavy. I have to psych myself up every time.

I stand on one leg while I brush my teeth- good for balance and adds a little frisson.

Hey! I do squats, as I live in a one level abode....
......... I saw something on MN about "bungalow legs", and as I too have no stairs, I got alarmed and thus kill two birds with one stone whilst seeing to my oral hygiene.
Bonus = a more firm and rounded bum ...
.... yay !

Someone said about opportunity to do pelvic floor exercises.

Whenever I find myself in a waiting room for longer than I expected, I count how many I can do.

Similarly, whilst being kept on hold with a phone call I can't get out of ... you know, when the auto voice says "you are number six in the queue".....

I don't mind putting away dry washing, but in this freezing cold damp weather, my washing never seems to get dry enough to put away.
I can't even judge whether it's still damp, or just extremely cold, and it feels like it's damp?

Oh the joys of keeping house ..... 😱

I dry clothes on coat hangers on the line in summer then they can be put in the wardrobe. Secure each hanger with a peg.Hate cleaning the bathroom and the oven.!!

I do this, so much easier.

Ohmych · 13/01/2025 08:07

I hate cleaning teeth and showering is such an effort but feel so much better when it's done.

SunnieShine · 13/01/2025 08:11

Washing floors. Have to sweep first, move stuff out of the way, mop, wait for floor to dry, put stuff back, rinse microfibre mop head. Booooring.

Floor looks good after though.

Commonsense22 · 13/01/2025 08:17

I don't mind brushing my own teeth. Brushing DC's though...

To me the worst chore is picking up all the mess left by dh and dc and emptying the bins.

Cooking dinner

Washing and drying my hair. Absolutely bores me.

Agreed. Just doing my hair at all I find painfully dull. I used to have long one length curly hair that I would just wash and leave to dry naturally, often turning up at work with damp hair. I recently had a style done (fringe and bob). Looks so much better but I actually have to do stuff now. I cant bare it. I sooo want to be a woman who does this stuff, but Im not, so it is now being grown out.

Annoyingsquirrels · 13/01/2025 13:12

I am normally running around the house sorting everyone else out whilst brushing my teeth so no time to get bored.

The job I hate the most is putting on duvet covers, they invariably end up the wrong way round and it seems to be a massive battle every time.

bigkahunaburger · 13/01/2025 13:22

annoyingsquirrels
agreed! Coverless duvets are your friend.

abracadabra1980 · 13/01/2025 21:01

Household admin. All of it. I can procrastinate doing it for months if necessary.

Deciding. Deciding everything. What we are having for dinner mainly, but what cereal we're getting next, if the bin needs emptying, if the washing machine needs putting on, or emptying... ditto dishwasher. Deciding when to order prescriptions... even for the dog... just deciding stuff takes up a ridiculous amount of head space every single day...

I'm with you on this 100% - and these days I only have myself and my business and my dogs to decide for... there's still so much deciding to do!

SloopyDoodle · 13/01/2025 21:13

Everything around food prep and meals. The planning of food and the buying of food and thr preparing when to do the bloody food around my job. For example last night after dinner I prepped all the veg and put in a tub for tonight's dinner because I finish work at 5:30 and then need to cook for everyone and this saves 10 minutes that I don't have. Its bloody relentless. I batch cook too. And then at the weekend its pancakes and all the DISHES and then can we have something special for lunch as its the weekend.

Putthekettleon73 · 13/01/2025 21:17

Putting clothes away. Family of 5. It's relentless groundhog day!

I don't mind brushing teeth at all. Or any personal stuff.

Just tidying up and putting stuff away for 4 other humans as well as myself all the time... !

Cotton sheets pegged on the washing line in a bracing Westerly wind crack themselves dry and have barely a crease in them, especially if it's sunny.

I don't have a washing line outside. No space for it.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 13/01/2025 22:11

Changing the kids beds is pretty brain numbing too.

I did all of them today.

DH and I love our clean sheets every Monday, our dc just don’t seem to notice or care (even when I make a point of making them aware). Ds2 even complained that I change it ‘just as it’s starting to smell nice’!
