To think the most tedious everyday 'chore' is...

Brushing teeth. I've always hated doing it and found it a tedious job to do twice a day. I don't mind other hygiene 'chores' so much but this is just the worst.

OP posts:

Washing and drying hair. Brushing teeth. All the self care stuff. So tedious.

All housework is tedious and soul-destroying.

Ironing, hoovering, sweeping, dishwasher, washing, cooking, clearing up after cooking ... it's all shit.

Agree except for cooking, I like cooking.

MiniPumpkin · 12/01/2025 21:58

Brushing the kitchen floor.. about 3 times a day. Dc are young, 6 & 3 so it’s bits of play doh, tiny pieces of chopped up paper, toys and food crumbs.. repeat repeat repeat 🤣

Curlygirl06 · 12/01/2025 21:58

I fold the washing up, put it in baskets and take it upstairs. I mean to put it away when I'm running a bath but it never happens, so by Sunday I've got several baskets looking at me.
What I do now is put dh's clothes for the week in piles, so shirt, pants, socks, sweatshirt and trousers for Monday, shirt, pants socks for Tuesday to Friday, leave it in a pile on his side of the bed and voila- one lot of washing sorted. In the week I pull clean clothes out of the basket for me to wear and technically speaking I should have nothing to put away on Sunday but it never works like that. However, it cuts down the job of actually putting stuff away quite a bit. Sometimes I get my clothes ready for a few days and put it on my stool, so another pile of socks, pants, t shirt, jumper all ready to go in order.
I hate hoovering the stairs as well.

I've stopped ironing about 80% of clothes. Just take out the machine and give a good shake before putting it out to dry.

Yes some items look creased but I've just stopped caring that I look scruffy. I found ironing too time consuming and there are more interesting things I'd rather do.

This. Try not to buy things that need ironing.

For everyone who hates hoovering the stairs, use one of those little scraper things instead. So much easier than wrangling a hoover and does a much better job.

I agree these scrapers are good !

True. I'm killing time on here before going in for a shower and hair wash. Cannot be arsed.

Justleaveitblankthen · 12/01/2025 22:06

Shuffling back the couch cushions (sofa? Settee? 🤔) back into position every morning. Lots of throws and cushions everywhere that also need straightening.
Drives me potty@6am, but I can't enjoy my coffee until it's done.

Emptying the dishwasher.

coronafiona · 12/01/2025 22:10

Emptying the dishwasher. Every. Single. Day. I hate it!
Also taking out the recycling.

Please can someone link to what you mean by a scraper?

Tisfortired · 12/01/2025 22:16

Thats weird Op I was only thinking this morning how much I hate brushing my teeth. I’d like to add;

Meal planning
Cleaning drinks bottles
Ironing (I only iron school uniform but I still dread it every Sunday)

Thighdentitycrisis · 12/01/2025 22:21

I hate thinking about what to wear, it’s a bore. Even though I have a variety of clothes I just wear the same few items on rotate.

Flumpsandraisins · 12/01/2025 22:23

Love brushing my teeth!

Also, I quite like sorting all the laundry
And ironing

Really dislike tidying up after every meal
And taking the bins out
Hate making beds and changing bedsheets

Crucible · 12/01/2025 22:25

Cleaning floors. Hateful task. Immediately dirty the minute I put a mop down.

LeaveALittleNote · 12/01/2025 22:26

I hate brushing my teeth. They’re sensitive, and it doesn’t feel particularly nice to brush them.

I also hate cleaning sinks.

Topseyt123 · 12/01/2025 22:32

Emptying the dishwasher. Also, emptying the indoor bins when full, though I make myself do it pretty quickly as I can't bear seeing them or the thought of them.

monicagellerbing · 12/01/2025 17:02

Putting dry washing away. Hate it with a passion

This. And it literally never seems to end

I stand on one leg while I brush my teeth- good for balance and adds a little frisson.

You wild thing you!!!!

I dry clothes on coat hangers on the line in summer then they can be put in the wardrobe. Secure each hanger with a peg.Hate cleaning the bathroom and the oven.!!

Pippyls67 · 13/01/2025 00:29

I have to do the Mary Poppins thing of making chores a game. When emptying the dish washer cutlery rack for example I put them in muddled then see if I can grab all the spoons out, then the forks etc etc. Object is not to miss any then I’ve ‘won’. Silly but it help. Also music or podcasts in AirPods whilst hoovering, ironing or walking the dog. Great one is ‘Murder They Wrote’ on BBC Sounds. It makes a tedious hour fly by.

I hate food shopping - well not the actual shopping the paying for it.

I absolutely hate unpacking shopping and putting it away!

I just use a wire brush, cannot be arsed with hoovering, too much effort!

Gingerisgoodforyou · 13/01/2025 00:45

Love hanging washing on the line. Don't mind putting laundry away. Or cleaning once somewhere is tidy.

All other chores are awful. Worst is tidying up. Not enough places to put everything, takes forever, dc can mess it up in about 5 mins. Just endless.
