To think the most tedious everyday 'chore' is...

Brushing teeth. I've always hated doing it and found it a tedious job to do twice a day. I don't mind other hygiene 'chores' so much but this is just the worst.

OP posts:

Cleaning

magicstar1 · 12/01/2025 17:54

It's thinking of what to have for dinner

Itiswhysofew · 12/01/2025 17:55

I often wish I could click my fingers every morning and just be ready.

CrushingOnRubies · 12/01/2025 17:56

Changing beds.

DP does it as he enjoys it and is good at it.

He's going a way for a while meaning I'll have to do it. 😩

Recycling night! It's always raining, always a faff

BeyondMyWits · 12/01/2025 17:56

Deciding. Deciding everything. What we are having for dinner mainly, but what cereal we're getting next, if the bin needs emptying, if the washing machine needs putting on, or emptying... ditto dishwasher. Deciding when to order prescriptions... even for the dog... just deciding stuff takes up a ridiculous amount of head space every single day...

FoxRedPuppy · 12/01/2025 17:57

I HATE brushing my teeth, I thought I was the only one! It is so boring! I play a game on my phone to help pass the time.

I also hate choosing what we are eating every day.

PinkTonic · 12/01/2025 18:02

I also hate teeth brushing and I’m definitely going to do the standing on one leg. I am sick of food shopping, the deciding on meals part. I don’t like cleaning so I outsource.

LovePoppy · 12/01/2025 18:04

Emptying the dishwasher and making lunches

AnxiousRose · 12/01/2025 18:05

Deciding whats for dinner.
Deciding what to wear.
Deciding where to begin cleaning.
I try to make routines so less of my energy is spent on decisions.
Doing the meal plan before the weekly shop is one of my least favourite activities.

Also hate emptying the dishwasher and putting away laundry.

I have a robot vacuum but it doesn't do the stairs 😟

Crayfishforyou · 12/01/2025 18:07

BingoLarge · 12/01/2025 17:05

I stand on one leg while I brush my teeth- good for balance and adds a little frisson.

I do this. I also try shutting my eyes.
My life is a roller coaster of excitement and experiences

BountifulPantry · 12/01/2025 18:07

Id say packing my bag for the office.

So much shit to remember- lunch, pass, pe kit, charger, headphones, mouse etc etc.

Stupid hybrid and stupid hot-desking.

paristotokyo · 12/01/2025 18:08

Unloading the dishwasher and putting laundry away. Hate both!

user22446688 · 12/01/2025 18:08

Flossing. Don't mind the brushing, and like a pp, I do it balanced on one leg, one minute each leg.

Making salad. I hate washing it and spinning it and putting away the bloody spinner.

nationalsausagefund · 12/01/2025 18:11

Actually, the school run. Take them there. Bring them back. Take them there. Bring them back. World’s worst hokey-cokey.

Pippatpip · 12/01/2025 18:14

Thinking about food.
Prepping the food
I used to be a keen cook and loved doing it but something in me has died from having this responsibility for 35 plus years.
Putting the shopping away.
Hoovering
In fact ALL the drudgery. Just can't be bothered.

emmax1980 · 12/01/2025 18:16

I don't like going the loo, brushing my teeth or having to clean the bathroom

CienAnosDeSoledad · 12/01/2025 18:18

Washing my hair. It shouldn't be a big deal, I have short hair, doesn't take long. Obviously needs to be done, so I do it, but god I HATE it. That's why I cut my 'haircare routine' to pretty much zero. Shampoo, air-dry, that's it. No conditioners, masks, serums, hairdryers, faffing; washing the blasted things is bad enough. Luckily my hair look decent treated like that. Contemplated shaving it off when it became trendy, and would have done it, but it really really wouldn't suit me.

Cooking. I can cook, but resent it. I'm not into food, it doesn't excite me at all. If I didn't have DD, I'd do a 'Victoria Beckham' probably. I dream when that astronaut paste/pill (or something) becomes mainstream. I'd probably live on these shakes or Huel when DD leaves. It's such a pointless waste of time.

And the funniest one. I hate cooking, but I LOVE food-shopping! What's that about?! I just enjoy it. Online, off-line, both fun. Probably need to get a life...

RaininSummer · 12/01/2025 18:19

Getting ready for bed. The whole routine is annoying as I just want to be in bed instantly not doing teeth, removing make up, sorting out dog. Bah!

Pastit12 · 12/01/2025 18:19

Cooking , deciding. What to cook doing the prep for it clearing up the mess after it I could happily live on toast forever

Deadbeatex · 12/01/2025 18:21

When I saw the title I instantly thought feeding the DC, obviously I feed them homemade nutritious meals using a chicken that lasts for a week 😂 its just feels never ending and I'd love someone to cook for a change (single mum DC too young so not currently possible)

I then saw the responses saying the dishes and yep I HATE doing the dishes (see previous brackets!)

I think dishes probably win

swordpen · 12/01/2025 18:21

I guess work. I like cleaning my house

Itsalwaysfools · 12/01/2025 18:22

Brushing my teeth.
Putting petrol in the car.

My new years resolution is to do things and not put them off until the last second. So I wash my face and clean my teeth early evening. I put the bin out as soon as I remember. I put petrol in the car before it's on fumes. I wash dishes up immediately. It's really helped reduce the mental load for me. Instead of spending the evening thinking about having to put the bin out in the morning, for instance, hey presto, it's done already.

oakleaffy · 12/01/2025 18:22

DaDaDoDaiDa · 12/01/2025 17:06

Brushing teeth is the thing you always do when you'd rather be in bed - either having just got up or last thing at night - which is why it's tedious.

I brush my Whippet's teeth - That's not too bad.
Get into a routine, left side first, then the ''grinners'' at the front, then the right hand side.

She knows and 'smiles' for the toothbrush.

To think the most tedious everyday 'chore' is...
Dollychopsporkchops · 12/01/2025 18:23

Love brushing my teeth. Nothing beats a fresh and clean feeling and tasting mouth. Hate mopping the floor

FutureFry · 12/01/2025 18:23

I'm going to go against the grain.

I recently discovered interdental brushes and floss, and as gross as it is, I love seeing the debris being removed. My teeth feel so clean compared to just brushing. It's really satisfying!

My most hated would be deciding what to cook and cooking.
