To think the most tedious everyday 'chore' is...

Brushing teeth. I've always hated doing it and found it a tedious job to do twice a day. I don't mind other hygiene 'chores' so much but this is just the worst.

You leave 6 months between cleaning?😳

Quentin Crisp, an inveterate slob as regards housework famously said:

''Dust after three years never gets any worse''.

Jennyathemall · 12/01/2025 18:41

Blowjobs. Honestly they suck.

MidnightBloom · 12/01/2025 18:42

I absolutely hate emptying the dishwasher with a passion. I don't mind putting things in as I like to play dishwasher jenga and see how much I can stuff into it.

Beautifulweeds · 12/01/2025 18:43

Hoovering

Mopping the floors. No idea why I hate doing it so much but I really do. It definitely doesn’t get done daily though!

A fellow annual floor mopper here @Muchtoomuchtodo .😉

Here:...This is astonishing..Welshmen {apparently }are the worst at cleaning, with up to 4 centimetres of dust in their homes.

Those in the North are the cleanest, according to the article.

More than a handful of dust

New research out today reveals that three million householders have left up to 16.6 kg of dust to accumulate in their homes - equivalent to over 16 bags of sugar - due to poor housekeeping. The build-up represents a potential health hazard, causing a s...

Hanging washing to dry - hate it! Would be dishes but I have a dish washer now and don’t mind loading etc

Itsaswelltime · 12/01/2025 18:45

Moisturising body -so I rarely bother

Also can’t be arsed to clean teeth at night (don’t mind in the morning) so do around 30 to 45 seconds instead of 3 minutes. 😳

Children’s toys. Every day!

IhadaStripeyDeckchair · 12/01/2025 18:47

Hoovering & mowing the lawn.

Loonaandalf · 12/01/2025 18:48

I love putting clothes away but dishes are a no go, I wouldn’t move anywhere without a dishwasher and the first thing we do is install one of a property doesn’t have one.

unsync · 12/01/2025 18:49

Meals - from planning, shopping, prepping, cooking, dishing up to clearing away and loading/unliafing the dishwasher. Every single fucking day. Loathe it.

Cooking. Hate the mental load required to decide what to eat, budgeting, shopping for it and actually cooking it and then storing leftovers, fussy kids, trying to wean the baby, all the mess etc.

I feel like being an adult is basically deciding what to eat 3 times a day for the rest of your life. It wasn't something I had to give much headspace to before having kids but now it seems to be a constant source of stress trying to please everyone and still make sure it's nutrious and healthy enough for three children to be raised on. I'm not a natural foodie and resent having to stop what I'm doing to prepare food when I'd be happy to just eat to live whereas my family seem to want to live to eat.

I wish I was one of those mums who enjoyed cooking and didn't find it stressful to whip up something tasty at short notice.

Face it. All housework sucks and I can never understand why Big Tech doesn't do more to solve our actual housework problems rather than piss about with AI generated pictures.

StrawberrySquash · 12/01/2025 18:51

Clean washing is fine as it has an obvious place. It's all the tiny bits and bobs that just accumulate on every surface. Each one belonging somewhere different. Probably in a cupboard you should sort out.

HorrorFan81 · 12/01/2025 18:52

I hate the banality of personal hygiene and the fact you have to do it every. Single. Day. I have to listen to a podcast/watch something on my tablet whilst I'm showering / brushing my teeth as I hate it so much

Also hate dealing with laundry, any of it. Thankfully my DH probably does 70% of it but I still hate that 30%

MumblesParty · 12/01/2025 18:56

MyDogNeedsGlasses · 12/01/2025 17:03

Cooking. Or possibly just the deciding what to cook bit. Hate it.

Same here.
I’d rather spend all day ironing, changing beds, brushing teeth etc than the relentless task of providing meals day in day out.

NotGottaClue · 12/01/2025 18:57

Packing washing away , see also groceries.

I love doing laundry. I love shopping . I detest putting it away

Shufflebumnessie · 12/01/2025 19:06

Anything related to food - deciding what to eat, what we need to buy, doing the shop, putting the shopping away, cooking...

mathanxiety · 12/01/2025 19:08

Cleaning behind the loo. It's hard to reach all the way back there
Scouring the sink. I love it when it's done though.
Cleaning skirting boards.

Tia86 · 12/01/2025 19:08

Cuppa2sugars · 12/01/2025 19:11

I hate going cleaning my teeth and getting ready for bed. Especially on these dark nights. I think I’ll try the standing on one leg thing .
I like ironing as I can watch something on telly at the same time. Living on my own 80% of the time I eat to live. My partner is a foodie and it can be overwhelming, there’s always food in the fridge, as he leaves nice things for me after he’s stayed at mine for the weekend. I also enjoy washing up 🤣

Having to muster up a reply to some of the tedious shite and daft videos or memes that get sent to me ten million times a day on Whatsapp by people I don't really like but don't want to be rude to because I have to see them in public.

I've now resorted to just sending
