To think the most tedious everyday 'chore' is...

Brushing teeth. I've always hated doing it and found it a tedious job to do twice a day. I don't mind other hygiene 'chores' so much but this is just the worst.

I quite like washing up.

But utterly detest pegging laundry out on the line. Takes ages, then you have to watch the skies until it's done in case of falling wet.
But often you have to take it all in before it's dry and use the dryer anyway cos it's raining. So you've effectively done one chore twice.
Dashing out to grab it all in quick because of unexpected rain.

Urgh.
Hate it.

But I do like the smell and much prefer lounge dried clothes. I just want a servant to do it for me!!

coffeepoweredmum · 12/01/2025 17:14

Washing up. I loathe it with a fiery passion.

I resent how utterly futile it seems as usually there is more to do within an hour.

I hate the feeling of soggy porridge or scrambled egg in the saucepan 🤮

Plus my sleeves always roll down and get wet.

I cannot wait to move into a house with space for a dishwasher.

MyDeepZebra · 12/01/2025 17:14

Having to muster up a reply to some of the tedious shite and daft videos or memes that get sent to me ten million times a day on Whatsapp by people I don't really like but don't want to be rude to because I have to see them in public.

I've now resorted to just sending

😂

and if I'm really pissed off 👍🏻

In response.

You should read a book by Thich Nhat Hanh. The Power of Mindfulness. It will change everything. Wink

Simbaonedaythiswillallbeyours · 12/01/2025 17:17

I despise dusting. I have a large Lego collection and I recently bought a handheld hoover. Revolutionary!

Folding and putting away dry clothes usually take 5-7 working days.

Deciding what is for dinner and cooking it 12 days a fortnight

GardensBooksTea · 12/01/2025 17:21

I'm 100% with everyone who's said putting clean laundry away. Literally, I've got you clean, I've got you dry, and now you want more from me?! Argh 🤣 Hate it!

X72 · 12/01/2025 17:23

Commuting

Notonyourjelly · 12/01/2025 17:23

All of these!
And
Emptying the dishwasher
Emptying the washing machine
Emptying the tumble dryer
And putting it all away.

LaPalmaLlama · 12/01/2025 17:23

Cooking. Every day. Why can't we be like snakes and I can just chuck them a deer carcass every few weeks?

AshCrapp · 12/01/2025 17:27

Yes! Teeth here too! Fine in the morning before going out, I brush them when I do my make up, but I have to force myself to do it at night. I force myself by reminding myself that it's real depressed behaviour not to brush your teeth.

caramac04 · 12/01/2025 17:28

Clearing the kitchen after preparing, cooking and eating dinner. I’ve got a dishwasher but some stuff, like the ninja pot/basket, are hand washed. I also feed the dogs, individual diets, just before I clear up so that the last thing I do is wash their food bowls. Honestly it might only take 20-30 minutes but I’d like to sit and let my dinner do down. Like dh and ds son do.

shellyleppard · 12/01/2025 17:28

Cooking the dinner and doing the washing up..... both monotonous jobs

Ironing

People still iron?

For me it's putting away the laundry.

NotSorry · 12/01/2025 17:31

Dusting!

putting clothes away. At least it’s not just me

Devilsmommy · 12/01/2025 17:31

Mehmeh22 · 12/01/2025 17:03

Picking things up from the floor. Painful both literally and figuratively

I have a 2 year old and a bad back so I completely understand your pain😅

JMSA · 12/01/2025 17:31

Putting away the clean laundry.
And changing duvet covers.

Magamaga · 12/01/2025 17:32

BitOutOfPractice · 12/01/2025 17:02

Yes, I think teeth cleaning is so dreary, a real chore. I have no idea why.

Drying my hair - also so so boring.

I apple air pods and listen to podcasts when drying my hair. Life changing.

PointySnoot · 12/01/2025 17:32

Doing the washing up. I hate it, so everything goes in the dishwasher. I don't even have a draining board in this house! I'd honestly rather clean the bathroom than wash up.

TheSilentSister · 12/01/2025 17:34

All these chores are better if you plug in some earphones and listen to music or audio books or watch IPlayer etc on your phone.
For years I suffered with tinnitus and had something playing on my phone 24/7 (in case I woke up) as the tinnitus was driving me insane. Now the tinnitus is gone (for now) I still use my phone to make the mundane tasks more enjoyable.

Everydayimhuffling · 12/01/2025 17:35

Cooking and feeding everyone

poemsandwine · 12/01/2025 17:35

Hueandcry · 12/01/2025 17:03

Changing beds, not every day obviously bit it's the chore I dislike the most

This and for some reason I have grown to hate hair washing days.

ohyesido · 12/01/2025 17:35

Sweeping. I have wood floors and a parrot who loves to drop seed everywhere

Middlemarch123 · 12/01/2025 17:36

Emptying and cleaning litter trays.
Chairman Meow comes indoors to use his tray, then goes out again to spy on the bird bath. Little bugger.
At least the other two stay in most of the time.
Always clean the trays as soon as used, they always race to use fresh litter.

SantaToSSD · 12/01/2025 17:37

Any housework. No sooner have you done a job than it needs doing again. Although I actually don't mind ironing much. I don't iron as many things as I used to but when I do iron, I listen to a podcast or watch something on my phone so it's not too bad. But cleaning toilets, showers, floors, hoovering, dusting, washing windows or clothes, anything really, there is no satisfaction because someone instantly dirties it again.

Tinaforshort · 12/01/2025 17:37

I hate food shopping - well not the actual shopping the paying for it.
