To think the most tedious everyday 'chore' is...

Brushing teeth. I've always hated doing it and found it a tedious job to do twice a day. I don't mind other hygiene 'chores' so much but this is just the worst.

OP posts:

I also hate brushing. In the morning I now do it in the shower which is far less painful

SantanaBinLorry · 12/01/2025 17:42

Most of these I just get the kids to do 😆
Hate washing dishes, and would never live without a dishwasher.

battairzeedurgzome · 12/01/2025 17:43

Taking multiple medications. Sometimes I am tempted to stop taking any of it and see what happens.

LuluBlakey1 · 12/01/2025 17:44

Hoovering- hate it.

Putting dry washing away. Hate it with a passion

This absolutely! The worst chore ever!

Branster · 12/01/2025 17:44

Cooking. Hate it. Need to have at least a vague plan what to cook tomorrow, check for ingredients, do the actual cooking, sort out dishes and kitchen at the end then do it again tomorrow and the day after and the day after. It never bloody ends!
I want a private live-in chef who will do the planning, shopping, cooking and cleaning. I'd pay really good money and, occasionally, would swan in to make pancakes or some elaborate French recipe or amazing dessert just to confirm to myself that I can cook well.

Hanging out wet socks to dry is worse!

TiredyMcTired · 12/01/2025 17:45

Most life draining daily chore is deciding what to cook for each meal. Sooooooooo boring and relentless. I totally understand why some people eat the same meal every day 🤷🏻‍♀️

Drying my hair

Tootiredmummyof3 · 12/01/2025 17:46

I hate washing up. It takes so long and has to be done multiple times a day. Feels never ending and no matter how long I leave it no-one else ever does it.

dynamiccactus · 12/01/2025 17:46

I agree OP, brushing teeth is super-tedious.

I also agree that practising your balance while you do it makes it a bit less boring!

UnhealthyCopingStrategies · 12/01/2025 17:48

Just flipping all of them because as soon as you've done it, you have to do it again. Applies to school run, laundry, shopping and cooking and dishes and cleaning... but I think trying to come up with and serve meals that will suit everyone and the activities/time constraints etc is probably the worst for me as everyone have different tastes.

SereneCapybara · 12/01/2025 17:48

Dishes. Hate hate hate it.

Also, vacuuming the stairs. The Henry is totally the wrong shape and so heavy.

I enjoy laundry and don't even mind ironing once I start (which is only about once every two months!)

Like PPs I either stand on one leg while cleaning teeth or do 20-30 squats, depending on how lively I'm feeling. You can get in 60 squats a day while cleaning your teeth. It makes a massive difference.

Sherararara · 12/01/2025 17:49

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 12/01/2025 16:59

Ironing

But as has been established on MN no one irons any more.

Adamante · 12/01/2025 17:49

Folding washing, I hate it!

PubicZirconia · 12/01/2025 17:50

Lunchboxes - for kids that barely touch 'em.

Particulary the scrambling for fruit that only gets taken out for a day trip anyway and rarely consumed.

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 12/01/2025 17:50

I'm team dry washing - I hate having to deal with the clean washing mountain.

ooooohnoooooo · 12/01/2025 17:52

@witchycat2 after listening to Michael Moseley 'just one thing' I now stand one one leg ;alternating every 30 seconds) whilst teeth cleaning.

It helps to stem ageing and makes teeth cleaning more of a challenge and less dull.

This. Every fucking day! Forever!

Tiredforfive45 · 12/01/2025 17:53

Styling my curly hair. Utterly tedious and I have to do it lots of it upside down so it hurts my back.

All things to do with the planning, preparing and tidying away of food. I wish we could all just take a daily pill that met all of our nutritional needs.

Also, the admin involved in getting ready to go to bed. I call this ‘bedmin’ and I really have to gear myself up for it each evening. Checking the doors, cleaning teeth, skincare, toilet, untucking the bed blah, blah, blah. In reality it takes about 15 minutes, in my mind it takes 15 hours.

ClaudiaNaughton · 12/01/2025 17:54

Teeth brushing and getting dried after a shower. Want a drying cabinet I can stand in.

Autther · 12/01/2025 17:54

Endless cleaning of the kitchen. I don't iron
