To hope that Donald Trump doesn’t win the election

1000 replies

RosaMoline · 21/10/2024 16:05

….it’s getting closer.
I was hoping that Kamala would be a shoo-in for the presidency, but looking at the betting odds, I’m feeling quite pessimistic.
It’s incomprehensible to me that a convicted felon, racist, rapist, liar and misogynist who spurred on an insurrection - after everything that’s happened - is running for office again and may very well win.
It’s comforting to read though that fellow Brits DON’T support him.
Apart from Reform. Obviously.

a convicted felon, racist, rapist, liar and misogynist Don't forget ableist. And all the other documented fuckery.

The fact that all this is true and people still think he's someone who should be given the highest office in the US baffles me. OK so you agree with his politics. But he's an admitted sex offender!!! How can you think he's OK to be in a room with humans, never mind running the place? There are other people who share his politics and presumably don't do these things.

Thank you. I am sorry I forgot to mention his mocking of disabled people! Yes, add that to the list.

So many, many appalling things he’s said/tweeted/done

Off the top of my head:

Retweeting Britain First
’Grab ‘em by the pussy’
Openly mocking and humiliating a disabled reporter
Claiming that dodging HIV/AIDS was his ‘own personal Vietnam’
Spreading false information like full term babies being murdered at birth

Etc etc etc

Trump is a populist and they're doing very well in politics right now. The West is moving very far to the right. His Project 25 is terrifying and I'm sure there's talk of mass deportation.

I do not see his reelection as good news for women or the Middle East.

I wish they would come on and say why a sex offender is the best option.

Millions voted for Farage and many on MN have far right views. That really shouldn't surprise you.

There are plenty of people in the US who will choose this over a woman candidate.

twomanyfrogsinabox · 21/10/2024 16:22

The problem is if he doesn't win his supporters are going to go ape shit, it will be another stolen election to them, because obviously he couldn't lose in a fair election. The civil disturbance if he loses may be worse than him winning. Bad times for the US.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 21/10/2024 16:24

So what if there is. Him winning would be far worse, for them too.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 21/10/2024 16:24

As opposed to a woman who got her initial position ( by her own admission) by sexual favours to her boss. Who has never been elected to any office ( withdrew from her primary when it was obvious that she was going to get the smallest share of the vote). Who didn’t visit the border when she was supposed to be in charge of it?

we won’t mention the earpiece, though.

RosaMoline · 21/10/2024 16:25

WHAT TRUMP SAID
“The baby is born. The mother meets with the doctor. They take care of the baby. They wrap the baby beautifully. And then the doctor and the mother determine whether or not they will execute the baby.”
😡😡😡

A large proportion would vote for a potato in a MAGA hat rather than vote Democrat. If you don't like women in office, non-white Americans, immigrants, LGBT people, or gun control then you vote Republican, whoever it is.

Well yes, better that than a sex offender.

RevelryMum · 21/10/2024 16:29

Well now you have Elon musk giving away a million a day to a random person who signs his petition in the swing states and trump is being well advised he is doing the rounds in a lot of podcasts so I'm really not hopeful . I really worry about the world if he is elected again .

A million times over someone who is accused of raping children and had a great relationship with Epstein.

RosaMoline · 21/10/2024 16:31

I have a few American friends who are gay and minorities. I’ll honestly be heartbroken for them if he gets in.
If he doesn’t, the MAGA lot won’t accept it - sadly, I bet there’ll be riots and a repeat of January 6th 2021. (from memory, I think that was the date of the insurrection)

A lot of people are voting for him because he is all of those things.

TurtlesDoNotPetsMake · 21/10/2024 16:38

But the immigrants are eating all the cats and dogs!

There is a great podcast that documents the daily crazed ramblings of this freak of nature.

The meidas touch. The press don't bother to report half of what he is saying. He was speaking at a college and was laughing at golden showers and prostitutes. Shock

Birdscratch · 21/10/2024 16:38

I knew that Americans were very different to Europeans in attitude and outlook but electing Trump was bizarre. If they elect him again I think someone else should look after their nuclear weapons until they’re feeling better.

BustingBaoBun · 21/10/2024 16:40

I am scared for the US, and for the world if he should win.

There are quite a few Trump fans on MN actually, no idea why. The argument seems to be... he did 4 years before and the world didn't end.

He's older, his cognitive abilities are far worse, he is out for revenge, and that awful man JDVance is hanging around in the background with his Project 2025

Valeyard14 · 21/10/2024 16:41

Maybe not that different - we elected Boris Johnson after all, who followed the usual transatlantic model of being a posher sounding but ultimately more shit version of what they have in the US.

Never elected to any office? She's been elected Attorney General of California, US Senator and Vice President!

The rest sounds like Republican propaganda; but, even if it were all true, she would still be better than that vile monster Trump.. In fact, a block of wood would be better than that vile monster Trump.
