I was hoping that Kamala would be a shoo-in for the presidency, but looking at the betting odds, I’m feeling quite pessimistic.
It’s incomprehensible to me that a convicted felon, racist, rapist, liar and misogynist who spurred on an insurrection - after everything that’s happened - is running for office again and may very well win.
It’s comforting to read though that fellow Brits DON’T support him.

I loathe trump, equally I think a lot of the progressive elements of the democrats are giving people the heebi jeebies. There are places that are now trying to raise police funding after it turned out that defunding the police wasn’t a great idea. Policies on drug usage have gone badly (Oregon). I don’t think it’s so much that people adore trump I think it’s because the democrats and progressive policies are looking a bit shit. Theres pushback now on trans women in womens sports.

I voted YABU because politics in the US is so far removed from the political atmosphere of the UK that you really need to spend time in all the states to get a feel for the culture. It really is that different. Donald trump is hideous but the fervency of religion, political affiliations, national pride and belief in the American Constitution ensures that he captures a lot of groups of society who arent represented by less radical candidates and their politics.

He had the highest employment rate in years. I expect that’s why a lot of Americans would like to vote for him. People like being able to earn money and not have their taxes wasted.

If Trump gets in Putin will be emboldened to move into countries like Estonia and Finland. Trump will ignore NATO's obligations and Europe will be completely destabilized.

There has been concern about Facebook for a long time. It's old news now since it isn't really much of an influencer in the US/UK.
