To think pooing in the shower is disgusting

According to my DD who read an article somewhere, over 1 in 10 people poo in the shower! Can this actually be true? Aside from being disgusted by this, I am intrigued as to what happens to it afterwards. Surely it would take a lot of effect to get it down the plug hole? 🤣

I don't believe that

MaggieBsBoat · 27/09/2024 10:41

Monkeytapper · 27/09/2024 10:41

I meant 'effort'

You actually believe that OP? Really?

Skyrainlight · 27/09/2024 10:41

I definitely do not believe that.

Darkfloods · 27/09/2024 10:41

My DD works in a sports centre, a poo in the men’s showers has been found more than once.
One of her friends also found a poo in her communal showers at university.

MonsteraMama · 27/09/2024 10:41

Oh god not another waffle stomping thread, please, it's too early.

Nogaxeh · 27/09/2024 10:42

I could believe that 1-in-10 pee in the shower, or 1-in-10 wash themselves in the shower after a poo, but I don't believe 1-in-10 do the whole process of defecation in the shower.

CreationNat1on · 27/09/2024 10:43

Don't believe it.

CrouchingTigerHiddenChocolate · 27/09/2024 10:44

I used to work as a cleaner, and, after spending 3 years cleaning public toilets, I wholeheartedly belive that 1 in 10 men shit in the shower. They are absolutely fucking disgusting.

RonObvious · 27/09/2024 10:44

I don't believe this to be true. However, I am also not going to Google to check. That could lead to disaster.

SinnerBoy · 27/09/2024 10:44

I don't believe that 10% of people do that!

IntheVicinity · 27/09/2024 10:45

I’d suggest you ask your daughter to check her sources.

stopthepigeonstopthepigeon · 27/09/2024 10:46

Nah

skeletonbones · 27/09/2024 10:46

My toddler did a giant poo in the shower once when we were camping. It was a very smelly and difficult process showering the toddlerpoo down the plughole, would not like to imagine how much worse a grown adults would be. Weirdos.

MrsSkylerWhite · 27/09/2024 10:47

In their homes?
Why would you? Far easier to flush it away than poke it down the shower trap, surely?

MaggieBsBoat · 27/09/2024 10:48

There’s a scene in the comedy show Superstore where one of the team mentions about them pooing in the shower like they considered it normal and everyone is disgusted, thus implying that normal people don’t do that kind of shit. 1 in ten seems crazy high.

Maria1979 · 27/09/2024 10:52

Don't believe it. My son once pooed in a swimming pool when at a hotel though😳. A big turd. Didn't tell me until later when they closed off the pool. Nobody knew it was him but I just wanted to die.

Glittertwins · 27/09/2024 10:54

It definitely happens, even in swimming pool showers. The poor lifeguards are often called over before the start of a competition to clean up (after swimming lessons have finished).

WiserOlderElf · 27/09/2024 10:55

My toddler pooed in the shower once. I didn’t shove it down the plug hole though, I fished it out with rubber gloves on and flushed it!
Anyway, I don’t believe that 1 in 10 people do this.

Moltenpink · 27/09/2024 10:56

There was a mumsnetter who caught her DH doing it once, that thread has always stuck in my mind

jeaux90 · 27/09/2024 10:57

Yes it is but some men have weird fetishes unfortunately. Don't get me started on the perverts who wear nappies and soil themselves, yes grown men. Don't google it.

HoppingPavlova · 27/09/2024 10:57

Nope. Refuse to believe that. 10% of the population spends lots of time in the shower trying to get the shit down the drain trap. Unless it was absolute diarrhoea, I imagine it would take quite some effort to try and break it up and get it down. You would need to take some sort of implement in to try and break it up to get it down, and there would be bits sloshing all over your feet probably🤢. Refuse to believe this is a 10% common activity. Maybe limited to the odd person who is staggeringly drunk and has lost their marbles maybe, or a toddler who is showering with mum/dad.

TotalAbsenceOfImperialRaiment · 27/09/2024 10:58

Where does that figure come from? Self-reporting is not reliable. I doubt that any reputable research body has its employees following a statistically significant sample of people around and observing what they do in the shower. And they would need informed consent.
