To think pooing in the shower is disgusting

According to my DD who read an article somewhere, over 1 in 10 people poo in the shower! Can this actually be true? Aside from being disgusted by this, I am intrigued as to what happens to it afterwards. Surely it would take a lot of effect to get it down the plug hole? 🤣

Where does that figure come from? Self-reporting is not reliable. I doubt that any reputable research body has its employees following a statistically significant sample of people around and observing what they do in the shower. And they would need informed consent.

Oh Good – Over 1 In 10 People Poo In The Shower

You probably know a poo miscreant if the statistics are anything to go by.

Well that's a statistic I didn't want to know about. I have never understood how it's possible for any child out of nappies to accidentally poo in the swimming pool either unless it's diarrhea. Surely you know it's coming and have to push?

Chowtime · 27/09/2024 11:04

The moral of the story is not to believe everything you're told.

GingerPirate · 27/09/2024 11:07

Never heard of this.
🤢😕

Portakalkedi · 27/09/2024 11:07

Pee yes, but poo, well as in comments above it clearly happens, but I guess more by men, and in public places (gym, pool etc) where they don't have to clean it up. Why I don't really want to think about but there is a recognised thing about men and poo ...

DeepBlueSeas · 27/09/2024 11:07

Urghhh…1 in 10 adults are shitting in the shower? Nooooo, that can’t be right. That’s not normal. I suspect anyone who does that has some deeper issues going on. Feral.

TheMaddHugger · 27/09/2024 11:09

Why did i open this thread ?👀💨💀

VWT5 · 27/09/2024 11:09

I’m sad to report I was at an off-season trip to Butlins in Bognor Regis -and yes, there were human faeces openly on the shower floor in the swimming pool area, more than one, a number of them.

MrMucker · 27/09/2024 11:11

Boak.

Couldyounot · 27/09/2024 11:12

I'll take "complete bollocks made up for clicks" for 15 points

GladAllOver · 27/09/2024 11:12

Don't see any problem with peeing in the shower - I've done it. But not the other thing, that's just disgusting.

JHound · 27/09/2024 11:12

I have heard this and think it is gross.

I also think peeing in the shower is gross too.

TomatoSandwiches · 27/09/2024 11:13

This can not be true, I REFUSE to believe it.

GreenGrass28 · 27/09/2024 11:14

I have seen online videos of people from gyms complaining of this, so it does happen. Just honestly would not even enter my head to do this. It's beyond gross!

I'm just going to pretend I never read that. I have to retain some faith in humanity.

LostMySocks · 27/09/2024 11:19

DS had terrible constipation once. In the end I had him crouching in the shower to help him go. But it was planned, I scooped it into the loo and then cleaned up. It was also our shower.

SodaFountainMountain · 27/09/2024 11:20

Friend who owns a campsite has had this. It’s completely unacceptable, of course, and most people wouldn’t. I wonder if it’s people with difficult to control bowel movements. So kids and people with medical issues mostly rather than just ‘can’t be arsed to get out and go to the toilet’ types.

Tiddlywinkly · 27/09/2024 11:21

Pee I can believe. Poo - no. It's usually pretty solid I'm guessing and wouldn't go through the plug hole surely?

Tiddlywinkly · 27/09/2024 11:23

Wait, do people do this with no intention of picking up after themselves?! Not that it makes pooing in the shower any better if they did.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/09/2024 11:25

CherryVanillaPie · 27/09/2024 10:40

I don't believe that

I don’t believe it, either.
The odd wee in the shower, OTOH - I could easily believe that. But I won’t mention any other thing that men are said to do in the shower - some of them, anyway…

Poor boy, that's completely understandable and different I think.

WingBingo · 27/09/2024 11:30

I’ve come across a bit of poo in my MIL shower plug hole more than once

Dhdidndnddn · 27/09/2024 11:31

On The Receipts Podcast years ago they had a dilemma from a lass who used to stay at her boyfriend’s who lived with his mum, and she used to find shit streaks in the bath (with overhead shower). 😂

I remember finding it really unbelievable at the time but maybe it happens?

Getitwright · 27/09/2024 11:32

Be a good parent and wean your DD off reading such drivel. And take a few breathes and tell yourself such stuff is beneath your own intelligence level🤷‍♀️
