To think pooing in the shower is disgusting

According to my DD who read an article somewhere, over 1 in 10 people poo in the shower! Can this actually be true? Aside from being disgusted by this, I am intrigued as to what happens to it afterwards. Surely it would take a lot of effect to get it down the plug hole? 🤣

Nope. Refuse to believe that. 10% of the population spends lots of time in the shower trying to get the shit down the drain trap. Unless it was absolute diarrhoea, I imagine it would take quite some effort to try and break it up and get it down. You would need to take some sort of implement in to try and break it up to get it down, and there would be bits sloshing all over your feet probably🤢. Refuse to believe this is a 10% common activity. Maybe limited to the odd person who is staggeringly drunk and has lost their marbles maybe, or a toddler who is showering with mum/dad.

Thanks for the mental imagery! You've convinced me that 11.33am is indeed far too early for lunch. My diet thanks you too 😂

TallulahBetty · 27/09/2024 11:35

Ah, a waffle stomp.

Dollshousedolly · 27/09/2024 11:36

Probably misread and it was wee!

IainTorontoNSW · 27/09/2024 11:36

If you ever watched the the Australian movie, "Kenny", a mockumentary about a bloke who supplies and cleans portable toilets for building sites, rock concerts and other events, POO is 95% water and 5% breakable solids.

I am not a shower-pooer, per se, but many years ago, during a health crisis, while in hospital, some unintentional/unintended excreta just escaped while I was showering at the private hospital in the ensuite of my private patient room.

NO BIG DEAL. It went down the shower drain diluted by the departing water.

I guess the OP's concern is about whether the turd is harder and drier rather than runny or diarrhoea-like.

It's not the end of the world if it happens. The city's waste water is processed as is the sewage.

Stop worrying!

🤮

I absolutely believe that one in ten men do this.

Women, I doubt it, because we all know who cleans up the most shit in the world, don't we?

Clarabell77 · 27/09/2024 11:38

It’s disgusting but I’m not surprised. We used to rent videos when that was a thing and the shop we used had a couple of sunbeds, the woman in the shop told me there had been shit in the bin in the sunbed cubicle on more than one occasion. 🤢

Rosscameasdoody · 27/09/2024 11:40

Wouldn’t it be a health hazard if it’s happening regularly though ? Don’t the contents of the shower drain go to a different place for processing than those of the soil pipe from the toilet ?

My toddler did a giant poo in the shower once when we were camping. It was a very smelly and difficult process showering the toddlerpoo down the plughole, would not like to imagine how much worse a grown adults would be. Weirdos.

This reminds me of a certain recollection in a certain autobiography of a certain musician best known in Liverpool in the 80s... my thought then and now, was "Surely it would have been easier to just pick it up with a load of loo roll and flush it down the bog... But yeah, what is it with all the piss and shit trolls lately? Are the schools out or something?

ArnieandBob · 27/09/2024 11:40

My sister is a cleaner, I can quite believe this based on some of the stories she has told me. One of her clients is a university lecturer, highly intelligent yet an absolute dirtbag when it comes to the cleanliness of his flat.

Most of her horror stories involve single men and the complete lack of hygiene in their own homes.

Windrainandsnow · 27/09/2024 11:41

I find it hard to believe many people do.it in their own homes
But.
Having briefly worked as a cleaner I'm not surprised about people doing this in hotel/ changing room etc showers where they don't have to clean up after themselves. The disgusting way a good percentage of people behave in situations where other lesser mortals have clean up their filth is mind blowing.

LlynTegid · 27/09/2024 11:48

Wee yes, hope poo is a misprint. Having said that, the number of people who have no regard for health and decency in this country was shown in 2020 and 2021.

user47 · 27/09/2024 11:51

It's a reddit joke isn't it? Stomping shit down the shower drain, waffle stomp as PP says. It's a joke, I hope!

Rosscameasdoody · 27/09/2024 11:53

DH’s friend is here and just asked him about this - he is a plumber. He says that even pump assisted showers don't have enough pressure or water volume to pass poop through drainage systems - just because you get it down the drain doesn’t mean it flushes out of the pipe. He says the diameter of a house soil pipe is much wider and when you flush the loo, the large volume of water moves the contents - which showers can’t do. He reckons pooping regularly in the shower can end up expensive if pipes need repair as a result. So secret shower poopers, you have been warned !!

I’ve come across a bit of poo in my MIL shower plug hole more than once

😲 OMG! How disgusting! 🤢

Nope, all the same way (ex-water co employee)

Wow. I always thought waste water and sewage were processed differently.

I used to work as a cleaner, and, after spending 3 years cleaning public toilets, I wholeheartedly belive that 1 in 10 men shit in the shower. They are absolutely fucking disgusting.

JFC. They should be exiled to their own island to shit freely without any women having to be aware, let alone clean it up for them. Vile fuckers.

I’m sad to report I was at an off-season trip to Butlins in Bognor Regis -and yes, there were human faeces openly on the shower floor in the swimming pool area, more than one, a number of them.

Nooooo! I am trying to persuade my family to go as the little kids will love it

TallulahBetty · 27/09/2024 12:00

Rosscameasdoody · 27/09/2024 11:58

Nope. This is why I never understand why people don't want to pay for water - your literal shit (and alls orts of other things) has to be filtered and cleaned out of it, treated, then returned to you suitable for drinking.

endofthelinefinally · 27/09/2024 12:04

Decades ago I lived in a nurses' home (worked in a London hospital, couldn't afford anywhere else). There was frequently human faeces in the showers.

duc748 · 27/09/2024 12:05

Reminds me of the old joke:

"There's nothing wrong with peeing in the shower, is there? Everyone does it...

Still got me banned from B&Q, though."

MsLavender · 27/09/2024 12:05

Fucking grim. I was going to say I don't believe it but I know of a drug addict who did this and given the amount people have substance abuse issues then maybe its true 😭 Im never bathing/showering anywhere but my own home from now on 😩

Ourdearoldqueen · 27/09/2024 12:05

A long time ago, back in the 80s, my younger brother was due to go on the school trip to France. I told him that the French poo in the shower and then push it down the plug hole with their toes. He believed me and had a huge hissy fit and refused to go and my mum lost the deposit on the trip. He knew there was something odd about French toilets so this all seemed plausible.
Fast forward to now and he’s quite well travelled but to my knowledge won’t go to France just in case he needs a poo. I’ve scarred him for life!

WTF? Nurses were doing this? It's bad enough doing it, but leaving it there is incredible. Also, frequently?
