To think pooing in the shower is disgusting

According to my DD who read an article somewhere, over 1 in 10 people poo in the shower! Can this actually be true? Aside from being disgusted by this, I am intrigued as to what happens to it afterwards. Surely it would take a lot of effect to get it down the plug hole? 🤣

I absolutely believe that one in ten men do this.

Women, I doubt it, because we all know who cleans up the most shit in the world, don't we?

It seems to apply to women too although it does say men are 30% more likely than women to poo in the shower. The survey was also of Americans, not sure if Brits are any cleaner though.

So many lovely disgusting poo stories. Mmmmmm. Great work all round. Job(bie) done.

MeatRaffleRita · 27/09/2024 12:12

WTAF

why why why???

There is no reason on earth to do this

I bet it's all men

BoelBedmunds · 27/09/2024 12:15

Ugh how does it go down the hole?

Walrusdress · 27/09/2024 12:16

My mum was a cleaner and said men's toilets were disgusting and they'd poo in the sinks and some would also try to squash it down into the drain.

CrouchingTigerHiddenChocolate · 27/09/2024 12:19

I cant tell you how it goes down the shower, but I can tell you that once a month or so men would shit in the urinals at my old work, literally walk past all the cubicles and, presumably, hover somehow over the urinals, and take a dump, and it doesn't go down there, it's down to the poor cleaner (me) to go and fish it out and clean the damned thing 🤢

Snippit · 27/09/2024 12:20

My dog is going a bit senile in her old age and poos whilst walking, and on the furniture. Why in the name of GOD would a human being have a shit in the shower?! 🤢

FlowersOfSulphur · 27/09/2024 12:20

I don't believe it, or at least I don't believe people do this in their own homes. Firstly, because of the difficulty disposing of said poo. Even if you got it down the plug hole, the waste water pipes from showers and baths are much narrower than those leading from toilets, and often run horizontally before they reach the main soil pipe, so they would soon silt up with bits of poo. Secondly, because people usually squat to poo, which I imagine would be difficult/uncomfortable to do in a shower cubicle (unless they have very strong thigh muscles) .

I haven't read the article (and don't want to), but I suspect it was made up on the flimsiest of eveidence by a bored journalist looking for clicks.

Thepossibility · 27/09/2024 12:22

My cousin was once telling me about how she occasionally has to stomp a poo down the drain because she can't make it out of the shower “like most women that have had children” with a knowing look at me. Like it's a commonly known women's issue?! I was like wtf no. She had all c-sections as well so I really don't get it.

Utter nonsense. Any such article was written by a fetishist. This is NOT a thing.

Darkfloods · 27/09/2024 10:41

My DD works in a sports centre, a poo in the men’s showers has been found more than once.
One of her friends also found a poo in her communal showers at university.

Apparently straining really hard lifting weights etc can accidently squeeze one out. So maybe that happened in the case you mentioned.

Whatever the cause totally disgusting and the pooper should clean it up and dispose of in the toilet. Cleaners shouldn't have to deal with such things.

Maria1979 · 27/09/2024 10:52

Don't believe it. My son once pooed in a swimming pool when at a hotel though😳. A big turd. Didn't tell me until later when they closed off the pool. Nobody knew it was him but I just wanted to die.

Haha, mine are now older but they both definitely pooped in the pool and one of them was sick in the pool. The pools were closed and some poor fucker with rubber boots had to vacuum the offending bits out of the water with an underwater Henry. God, young kids are rogue.

gamerchick · 27/09/2024 12:28

Yeah they stomp it down the plug hole apparently. It's probably not that common but it happens more than anyone would think.

Because people are lazy, scruffy fuckers.

Frannyhy · 27/09/2024 12:30

I’ve done it by accident when I caught giardia in India. It was a shared shower so I told the hostel owner and apologised, saying I’d clean up.

He told me not to worry as it happened all the time!

ThatAgileGoldMoose · 27/09/2024 12:32

No idea about the accuracy of 1 in 10 but I can believe it's 1 in 20 or higher for sure. Men can be fucking rank, especially when they don't think they're going to be caught.

I used to work in an upmarket restaurant. Like a lot of front of house staff we also cleaned the loos. In 10 years I remember:

We found soiled underwear on the floor in the gents, twice.

A turd on the floor of the gents, once.

Poo in the urinals

Urinals blocked by loo roll or hand towels

Toilets blocked by humongous poos and/or toilet paper and hand towels. And once by a t-shirt?!

Wee fucking everywhere around the urinals and toilets most days.

In the ladies:

Occasionally a wrapped up tampon or sanitary towel that hadn't made it into the sanitary waste bin.

Once a toilet blocked by sanitary wear.

Men are objectively far more gross in bathrooms.

ProbablyNotNo · 27/09/2024 12:35

I only do it when I have diarrhoea so it goes down easily.

Oh god not another waffle stomping thread, please, it's too early.

is that what you do to get it down the drain

Agapornis · 27/09/2024 12:37

Maybe this is measured over a lifetime?

If so, going by others' posts, if 10% poo in the shower as a baby/toddler, that would be correct...

Not everything you see/ read on the Internet is true 😂

It is. Stomp it through the grill of the drain, so it gets a waffle pattern. Hence waffle stomping.

SLeanne · 27/09/2024 12:39

Well I am shocked by some of these posts. I thought doing it in the shower was bad enough, but the sink? WTF? Surely it must be incredibly difficult to get into position? Can't help but think ppl who do this must have some kind of fetish. Like when burglars poo in their victims' houses. Or maybe the thrill of being caught? There are some very sick individuals out there.

I think a lot of ppl with kids will remember a time when their toddler had an accident in the bath / shower / swimming pool. I certainly do. We're talking about adults.

I want to know how they've phrased this question because of they asked if they EVER have I can imagine you might of once if you've had birth injuries/ fissures / extremely bad constipation and the warm water helped or something, followed by cleaning it up and disinfecting the bath but just generally - no. Why would you? How is that easier than literally anything??

Maybe they feel like they prefer to squat but just.. get a toilet stool?

Mcginty57 · 27/09/2024 12:43

Wtf surely not.

Crayfishforyou · 27/09/2024 12:43

Getting it down the plughole was called ‘Waffle Stomping’ at a campsite I went to. 🤢🤮🤢🤮
I think it was a joke.
I hope it was a joke.
I will not be going there again
