F**king hats in restaurants

TomAllenWife · 22/09/2024 13:15

Is my new irritation!!!!

Stayed at a naive hotel last night, at breakfast this morning, two separate men wearing caps for in the restaurant .

On holiday in the summer (boiling hot) men had to wear long trousers for dinner, no shorts, but you could turn up in a baseball cap 🤔

When did this become acceptable?
I resist the urge to knock it off their heads?
I don't know why it makes me so irrationally angry either (peri)

Is it just me?

Hats don't bother me, but fucking anything in public is a no no!

CeffylCoch · 22/09/2024 13:17

I wouldn't notice or care to be honest

user1474315215 · 22/09/2024 13:18

Why on earth does it matter?

YaCannyKickYaGrannyInTheShin · 22/09/2024 13:18

I don't think I've ever dined in an innocent restaurant before? 🤣

mitogoshigg · 22/09/2024 13:19

I can't get worked up by caps unless it's black tie, especially at breakfast

OrdsallChord · 22/09/2024 13:19

I'm not confident I'd even notice.

I love s black tie breakfast

BiscottiToffee · 22/09/2024 13:20

DH keeps a cap on in public to hide medical scaring.

It isn't all fashion.

Getting worked up about clothing is irrational and bizarre

YaCannyKickYaGrannyInTheShin · 22/09/2024 13:20

But either way, I'm far more interested in what's on my plate than what's on people's heads.

Funkyslippers · 22/09/2024 13:20

You're just being naive 🤣

WolfFoxHare · 22/09/2024 13:20

Caps should only be worn in cynical, world-weary restaurants. It’s right there in Debrett’s.

FriYayyy · 22/09/2024 13:20

Your hotel is definitely naive if it thinks the patrons won't be fucking their hats at breakfast

I’d have to agree, Debrett’s certainly advise against it, daaahling.

Pinkissmart · 22/09/2024 13:21

Why does it matter? Those outdated ‘rules’ of society need to go- so many serve no purpose apart from to look down on others

ThirstyThursday · 22/09/2024 13:21

@TomAllenWife

you stayed at a naive hotel???

I couldn't personally give less fucks about what other people wear to breakfast, if asked I guess I'd prefer caps over women in very little bed wear.

seems weird you can wear caps, but not shorts. But wouldn't bother me.

what a weird thing to get yourself so worked up about.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 22/09/2024 13:22

Naive hotel, that allows hats in restaurants? I'm intrigued.

Littletreefrog · 22/09/2024 13:22

You dont know whats going on in peoples lives so butt out. My son wears a baseball cap pretty much 24/7 he has trichotillomania so if he doesnt wear a hat he pulls his hair out and ends up with bald spots and sores.

poppyzbrite4 · 22/09/2024 13:23

Some men are very self conscious of their hairline. It wouldn't bother me OP, you should watch your blood pressure.

Chateauneufdu · 22/09/2024 13:23

Wouldn't notice, more than one exclamation mark on the other hand..

ilovesooty · 22/09/2024 13:23

I really can't see why anyone would be angry about this.

Lettuce9 · 22/09/2024 13:24

You’re unreasonable. Maybe they’re insecure about hair loss? Maybe it’s comfortable? Maybe that’s just their style choice.

I take issue with people showing more of their body than is socially appropriate (coming down to breakfast in a mankini for example) but by all means cover as much of your body as you want. Unless we’re talking top hats blocking your view of a stage at the theatre or something then I think hats are an entirely personal matter. Talking about knocking it off their head is outrageous.

Ineedaholidayyyy · 22/09/2024 13:24

Yabu , definitely a you problem, why do you care so much? Plus a lot of men wear hats because they are balding/receeding, it isn't always a fashion accessory.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 22/09/2024 13:25

DH would wear his cap to breakfast as he’s self conscious about his bald spot. He wears a cap whenever he can get away with it. I don’t know why it would bother someone else.

YaCannyKickYaGrannyInTheShin · 22/09/2024 13:25

Do all head coverings trigger this reaction, or just hats?

Lets hope you never holiday in a Muslim country.

MinnieMountain · 22/09/2024 13:27

I'm peri-menopausal, but that’s an extreme thing to get worked up about.

You'd have a point if it was pyjamas.
