F**king hats in restaurants

TomAllenWife · 22/09/2024 13:15

Is my new irritation!!!!

Stayed at a naive hotel last night, at breakfast this morning, two separate men wearing caps for in the restaurant .

On holiday in the summer (boiling hot) men had to wear long trousers for dinner, no shorts, but you could turn up in a baseball cap 🤔

When did this become acceptable?
I resist the urge to knock it off their heads?
I don't know why it makes me so irrationally angry either (peri)

Is it just me?

I don’t think it’s acceptable in most locations. I assume you’re in McDonalds?

DickEmery · 22/09/2024 19:25

That's another one of mine gone now! It didn't really say anything much.

Oh that was replying to me. Sorry. I'm still standing.

I think the OP's just sitting there angrily reporting everyone!

Mine went for mentioning her husband's 'hobby'?

Oh no way! 😆😆How dare you!

KimFan · 22/09/2024 19:53

It’s of no concern to you and really shouldn’t have this big an impact!

Well as long as he takes his hat off, no one.

Lucy25 · 22/09/2024 21:21

Can’t agree with you, on this one, because it has absolutely nothing to do with, you, me or anyone else, what people choose to wear.
It’s worth considering, some people wear them, due to a medical condition, it’s not always to do with fashion.

Funnywonder · 22/09/2024 17:28

I can't help but think that the OP is on the wind up. How could anyone get that irritated by what others wear? As long as nobody is waving their hairy arse about in a thong while I'm trying to eat my granola, then I'm oblivious to what other people are wearing. In fact, the posher the establishment, the more satisfaction I might get from witnessing somebody's big eff you to (imaginary) etiquette🤣

You’re right, this has got to be a wind up.
Your comment definitely made me chuckle though😂

moaningmyrtle4 · 23/09/2024 18:21

It's breakfast, not dinner where they need to wear long trousers as you stated.

Honestly who cares. Its breakfast, not a black tie ball.

Mumoftwochildrenand6furkids · 23/09/2024 18:53

Now hats at dinner, caps dont bother me but why is it every single time i go to an show, concert some clown in an massive hat seems to be stood directly in front of 5 foot me!!

Cojones · 23/09/2024 19:50

I hate baseball caps especially when they’re worn back to front. But it’s not something I can do anything about and really not worth getting vexed over.

OP there are so many bigger issues that really need your anger and support.

blackbird77 · 23/09/2024 20:24

Completely agree with you OP! I haven’t read the full thread so apologies if someone else has mentioned it but there’s a really famous scene in The Sopranos where Tony becomes infuriated with a teenager wearing a cap in a nice restaurant. He’s absolutely furious about it. It’s a very satisfying scene to watch!

Can't stand baseball caps either with or without rude words.

Also hoodies up in good weather.

CWigtownshire · 23/09/2024 21:33

Not just you, I think it's totally bad manners. (not peri).

misscris · 23/09/2024 22:06

TwitchyJerk · 22/09/2024 13:28

When I was in a restaurant the other day I said to my husband that people might think I'm rude for wearing a hat.

But I don't care because it helps with my photophobia and sensory overload.

I wondered of people still care about these things, apparently so!

It’s quite correct for ladies to wear a hat in a restaurant; gentlemen should always remove theirs. However, since we are now living in 2024, not 1924, my opinion is now, wear what you like as long as you aren’t showing too much skin. Most holiday hotels ask guests not to enter their restaurants if wearing swimwear or with bare feet. Long trousers are suggested for evening meals, but not enforced. Even cruise ships (long regarded as the last bastion of formal dressing), are gradually dropping their “formal” black tie evenings. That in itself could be construed as strange since a hundred years ago, “black tie” for a gentleman at dinner implied casual dressing; white tie (with a tail coat rather than a dinner jacket) was the more formal!

That's completely different and rude and inconsiderate.

What annoys me are people who don't understand how raked seating works and lean forward for a better view- which blocks the view for the person behind them.

beyourownchampion · 23/09/2024 22:28

My husband could’ve written this post. It REALLY irritates him too. I’ve just read your post to him and he totally agrees with everything you say. Especially the bit about wanting to knock it off their head. I think he might actually do it one day …….

Thistlewoman · 23/09/2024 22:51

DarkForces · 22/09/2024 13:17

Hats don't bother me, but fucking anything in public is a no no!

🤣🤣🤣

OneTooFree · 23/09/2024 23:11

That hotel can't be that naive if it allows fucking hats at the breakfast tables.
I assume it's an adults only hotel.

You’re this carnaptious about something inconsequential? Christ knows what you’re like when it matters

My most enthusiastic contrafibularities for using that word.
