I’m cold. But also poor so I’m doing my best to keep it off!

No but can't say the thought didn't cross my mind earlier 😂

I'm on the south coast. It feels winter like. But I should probably just get up and shut my windows that have been open since about March!

NorthernGirlie · 09/09/2024 19:46

No! We're in the North East and it's not cold enough here yet. DH put a new roof on this summer (it's been overdue for about a decade) and I feel like the house is much warmer already.

JosieRay · 09/09/2024 19:46

Not yet but I’m freezing (North East) I’m trying to make do with a hot water bottle and fleecy blanket until October at least!

StarDolphins · 09/09/2024 19:47

I’ve had it on a few times, including a couple of warm, wet days just to dry my washing.

OhLookAStrawberry · 09/09/2024 19:47

I thought about it the other day. Only reason I didn't is because I was going out shortly and it seemed pointless to heat the house up when I'd be out the door before it got warm anyway.

It's forecast to be 4°c on Thursday & Friday evening so I may end up using it then. I am looking forward to leaving my clothes on the radiator so when I get dressed in the morning they're all toasty.

Hoglet70 · 09/09/2024 19:47

Nope, definitely not cold enough yet. Have still got the windows open.

Lulubellamozarella · 09/09/2024 19:48

Nope! Not even crossed my mind to yet and I live in a Grade 2 listed cottage in Wales! Its not cold enough yet. But apparently turning colder as this week goes on so ask again on Friday and I might have a different answer 😂

MilkToast · 09/09/2024 19:48

Not yet! But I just put on my warm and cosy lounging clothes so it’s definitely getting chilly.

SendARavenToRiverRun · 09/09/2024 19:48

Yup! Had piles of holiday washing to dry, felt the cold after aforementioned holiday so had an hour of balmy temps, well 21c!
Most of my washing dried on the line tbf, just needed a blast, as did I!

LindorDoubleChoc · 09/09/2024 19:49

Ha ha! The annual September heating thread. I look forward to it coming round every year, like an old cuddly Autumn blanket.

I think the 9th is going pretty early, depending on where you live.

I also think it's helpful to put in posts where you actually DO live, to give people a bit of context - as there are Mumsnetters across the globe and some are no doubt roasting in 40 degree heat right now.

Itsmahoneybaloney · 09/09/2024 19:50

Wtf no! It's 15 degrees!

MissConductUS · 09/09/2024 19:50

Yes, it was 9 C yesterday morning, so I put it on for a bit. I'm in upstate New York.

thursdaymurderclub · 09/09/2024 19:50

we are at the 'wrap a blanket' round yourself stage! i'll be damned if i put the heating on in spetember

NotOnlyFedUpButAlso · 09/09/2024 19:50

Noooo... heating will change to "winter" timing when the clocks change. But God its getting cold in the evenings if the sun doesn't warm the house in the day. Actually I doubt I'll be able to fight the temptation if it stays cold this month. Did put the electric blanket in the bed yesterday though... bedtime bliss.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 09/09/2024 19:51

Nope, still have my windows open and would have my patio doors open except I don't want moths flying in.

Perimenopause seems to have given me a personal central heating system, and DH and the kids never seem to feel the cold at all.

Keep going like this, it'll be November before I put mine on.

LaurieFairyCake · 09/09/2024 19:51

No, in London - still wearing a t shirt

IOSTT · 09/09/2024 19:53

Have it on in the mornings. Going to be really cold in next few days!

AgileGreenSeal · 09/09/2024 19:55

It’s 15c where I live and that feels warm to me.

Wigtopia · 09/09/2024 19:56

Nope! Windows have been open all day and night since June!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/09/2024 19:57

No but I’m dahn sahf so it’s not that cold. Have got the windows open in my bedroom in fact.

Battlerope · 09/09/2024 19:57

No, but where I am it’s still mid to high twenties in the middle of the night.

Alevelnamechange · 09/09/2024 19:57

Not yet, though DH and I did debate turning the radiators back on (currently all set to zero, so even if the Nest turns the heating on, it'll only come out the towel rails).

I'm going to see how long we can hold out for... our utilities bill (gas and electricity) in the summer is about £90 p/m vs. £300 in the winter.

KarmaKat · 09/09/2024 19:58

Nope, thermostat is showing 19 at the mo. I’ve got it set to come on if it falls below 16 in that day or 14 overnight

theteddybear · 09/09/2024 19:58

Yes it went on just after dinner as I was cold. I said oh a wee twenty minutes. Just turned it off, so it was on for probably 90mins 🙈 and the house is lovely and toasty 😃

September I would expect it to be on. We had some weeks of putting it on in June and July this year which is utterly ridiculous but there were days where the high was 12 degrees!

Tangerinenets · 09/09/2024 19:58

I’m at my caravan for the week and it’s on 27 degrees 😬. Probably won’t when I get home though 😂😂
