I’m cold. But also poor so I’m doing my best to keep it off!

I’m NE and it isn’t cold enough yet. I have moved to the Autumn duvet but I still have the bedroom window open.

SpiritAdder · 09/09/2024 20:17

No! And I have the windows all open as have been painting.
DH is moaning about being chilly so I’ve thrown a few heavy blankets on him. I’ll close the windows when the sun goes down.
The heat is not going on until after the leaves change.

Silvers11 · 09/09/2024 20:23

I'm in the central belt of Scotland. Absolutely not yet. It can be bit chilly, but not freezing cold yet. Regardless, it never goes on here until a week or two into October at the very least.

rumblegrumble · 09/09/2024 20:23

No, not even occurred to me. Windows open all day and sitting in a t-shirt. South-east.

housethatbuiltme · 09/09/2024 20:26

We had it on one night last week, another north easterner.

theteddybear · 09/09/2024 20:26

@Bbq1 12 was the high of the day. It was cold in the house, thermostat was down at 16-17degrees. It usually didn't need to be on long maybe an hour and that would heat it up. When we got back from holiday in July it was 14degrees inside the house it was so cold. We had heating on for 4hrs and it had only risen to 18 and I turned it off then.

TheNuthatch · 09/09/2024 20:27

Yes! I'm in NW England. Just using it for about an hour in the evening. The house feels chilly and damp now if I don't switch it on at night. Heated clothes airer is back out too!

FrenchandSaunders · 09/09/2024 20:27

Christ no. Windows open here in south london.

Mooneywoo · 09/09/2024 20:28

It’s been nowhere near cold enough in London yet and I really feel the cold.

But I did stick it on for an hour this morning as it’s getting harder to dry the washing!

Falsenegative · 09/09/2024 20:29

Really surprised at some of these answers. I’m in the North East and I’ve had the patio doors open all day and the gauge is still saying 17.5.

MovingBird123 · 09/09/2024 20:29

I am COLD! MY nose is like an ice block. No heating yet though, feels too early. Washing also taking an age to dry inside without it...

BakewellGin1 · 09/09/2024 20:30

Nope. North East here. Drizzly and misty but car showing 16 degrees. All windows still locked open and house is warm enough. Way we going looking promising to get to October with it off.
Definitely no chill in here yet

New4Old · 09/09/2024 20:30

Yes we have used it at odd times (it seems like All year round)). We are both 80+. It has been an awful year for us in the Midlands. So windy and that chills the air.
Fortunately we can afford it.

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 09/09/2024 20:31

We have had to today to try and clear the backlog of laundry. It's been roasting in the house and we hopefully won't have to put it on again for several more weeks!

bumblefeline · 09/09/2024 20:31

It doesn't get switched off, whenever Hive gets to 21.5 it comes on, been on a few times this week.

Doggymummar · 09/09/2024 20:33

Mine come on automatically when it goes below 18degrees in the house. It was19.5 today with the garden door open for the dog so I feel it won't be long. I. In Brighton if it matters

Alapotin · 09/09/2024 20:37

It's set at 19c and hasn't come on yet, it's 20c at the moment

Riapia · 09/09/2024 20:38

I’ve had a forecast of how much my monthly charges are going to be.
Fucking terrified. The increase for both gas and electricity is huge.
Hope it’s not a long cold winter.

Cuwins · 09/09/2024 20:39

It's set to 19 degrees but I'm not aware of it coming on yet.

StellaCruella · 09/09/2024 20:40

Nowhere near that point yet, although low of 5 degrees forecast overnight this week. (London)

EyeOop · 09/09/2024 20:40

I am absolutely always cold. If it’s Cold enough to have the heating on the heating won’t be enough to warm me up.

it’s been completely off since March and we are in a cold part of the Uk

smashburgers · 09/09/2024 20:40

Not here- it's not even autumn yet. It's been sunny and around 23° all day

virgocatlover · 09/09/2024 20:41

No and I hope to hold out until after the clocks change (always a struggle)

usernother · 09/09/2024 20:42

No. It won't go on until October. If I'm cold I'll put a jumper on.

Westiegirl3 · 09/09/2024 20:42

It's not even occurred to me yet to put it on, I'm in the camp if I'm cold it's on, but haven't yet got the windows closed.
I'm in the Midlands
